Very disappointing, staff was rude when we were trying to check in. The condo that we got was super old and not enogh room for clothes in a very small dresser.

Not as advertised.
You'd think it would be fairly easy to book a beach condo. Not so much. We spent hours trying to find units close enough to the beach with nice amenities and a descent price. We used HomeAway.com as they kept coming up in the search. We thought it would make it easier. Finally we decided on Sterling Shores on Destin Beach. It looked very comfortable with a great location. All photos showed nice 2 or more bedroom units with the masters all up front facing the ocean. It was a bit strange having to wait while the agency got confirmation from the condo owner before we could actually book and when we did book, it took us to Expedia all of a sudden to complete booking. When we arrived, the condo looked great and the location was perfect. We get to our unit and it was not at all as advertised. It was a small 2 bedroom with both small bedrooms at the very back with windows at the walkway. We checked in well after 5:00 so we couldn't do anything about it until morning and when we did get to speak to the front desk, the fact that we had booked through a second AND third party meant we had NO bargaining leverage to get a better unit even with our legitimate complaints of black mold in the bathrooms and furniture that was in sever degrees of disrepair. We will go a different route for any such bookings in the future.

Overpriced grimy condo room.
Room felt grimy and stained. Towels were old and quite used. Dirty floors and long hairs stuck to bathroom cabinet door. Not an ideal vacation experience.

Beautiful view, but....
Common areas were nice, but our 2 bedroom was very outdated and old. Flooring was peeling up, cabinets were so cheap and felt like they could fall off the wall. When you use a third party they give you just any room they have, so you don't have a chance to see it. The bedspreads were so faded and old and looked worn out.

We stayed here last year and it was amazing!! We booked for this summer expecting the same.. little to say I'm very disappointed.. our units washer and dryer didn't work..but they didn't let us know that until I went to use it and water leaked all over the floor.. they didn't come clean it up.. and just told me not to use it.. With 6 kids and beach and swimming that was a huge inconvenience!!! Then when I asked for clean towels and bedding because I couldn't wash them they acted like they couldn't but then brought only towels.. out bedding had a big burn in it and the jets on our tub didn't work.. very disappointed!!:(

This was our first time in Destin. The location of Resort was excellent, walking distance to beach, restaurant, and ample parking. The condo we stayed in was better than I expected with two large bedrooms, two bathrooms and full kitchen. The service at the front desk was average. They seemed to be troubled by me asking a few questions about trash collection and extra towels.

Great location, no amenities
This is not really a hotel, but a condominium building that has rooms for rent. When we arrived at the resort, there was a gated entry, but we were not given the code to enter. After 3 or 4 phone calls, we found someone who gave us the code to enter. The location is really nice and close to the beach, however there are no services or amenities provided. We stayed for 4 days and there were 4 of us, but there was a roll and half of toilet paper in the room and a mini bottle of shampoo.

Nice hotel/condo appt with all rooms ocean view.
It would have been a perfect vacation with a nice, clean and comfortable room with a wonderful view if we had not been locked out of the room for almost 3 hours. The electronic door lock stopped working and I made at least 5 phone calls to the numbers listed in the empty lobby door. The only number where they answered kept telling me that they were calling the concierge service in charge during the non-office hours and after 2 hours they said they were calling the manager, who never answered. They never answered the phones and the concierge finally got to open the lobby by 8 pm, 2 hours and 45 minutes after my first phone call.

Great First Experience At Sterling And Destin
This was our first time staying at Sterling, my first time in Destin. This was a great condo! We loved it as did the kids. The pool is great, just a short walk from the beach and there is lots to do around the area. We've added Sterling Shores to our "return" list for future visits. The only issue was with the TV in the master bedroom. The sound was not very good. We spent time snorkeling and there was lots of marine life (Fish, crabs, etc). The water is crystal clear and the sandbars made it much more kid friendly. We ate at the Donut Hole and the Pancakery for breakfast. Both great places.

Worst experience I have ever had.
The fact that we paid 6 months in advance for a 3 bedroom condo and was stuck in a 2 bedroom was very disappointing. Was only informed of the problem as I was trying to check in. My son and granddaughter slept on a broken sofa bed. He now is suffering with his back because of it. When it came time to get a refund that was an even bigger joke. I was told a 2 bedroom was the same price as a 3 bedroom. That was not the case when I made my reservations. We were very very disappointed.

Very nice condo and good location, has two resturants beside it and although it does not sit directly on the beach, you basically just walk across a driveway to get to it. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again, could use some updating though. The rooms are older and bathrooms could use a re-do. But other than that everything was good!

Nice condos 100 ft from beach
We booked a 3 br 2 ba condo for 7 adults & 2 kids. Overall, it worked out great. We brought our own food & utilized the full kitchen, wch saved us a lot of money. The den & dining area had plenty of space for the kids to run & play. Having a washer & dryer was a plus as well. There were a couple of small things that weren't deal breakers, but.... 1. In our condo, the master room was huge w balcony access & own bathroom, the 2nd was average w access to a bathroom, the 3rd was very small w very little room on the side & in front of the bed & shared the bathroom across the hall w 2nd bedroom. Some of the kitchen utensils had small rust spots on them. If you're finicky about stuff like that, bring your own. The patio furniture had rust in different areas. I felt like, for what we paid, they could maintain those things a little better to give their customers an Excellent stay, rather than just Good or Great. Other than that, they maintain the pool and grounds well, have a free movie DVD machine, the beach is 100 ft from when you walk out the door & the restaurant 'the Back Porch' (which is 50 ft from your patio) has great seafood {a little pricey & 1.5 hr wait during dinner hours, but was well worth it}. I would stay there again. Hope this helps

We had a wonderful time at Sterling shores! Great location to restaurants, activities, and the beach. Plus the two pools we're clean and a good alternative if it was too windy at the beach. We would recommend Sterling shores to all of our friends and family!

Excellent location. Grounds and pools immaculately kept. Small pool is heated & right ON the beach. Call before 5 to get the code to the gate so that you can drive right to the front door. Ruth's Chris is next door. BBQ place, Chic-Fil-A and hot dog/ice cream stand across the highway, but it’s VERY busy to cross & easier with a car. Wal-Mart is 1/8 mile East, Target is 3/4 mile West. Some noise from planes overhead. The lagoon pool has a noisy fountain in it, but it's a pleasant "white noise. At night they turned it off & we could hear the ocean. The Back Porch Restaurant is close and tasty, but expensive. Wonderful chicken fingers or shrimp ($20), but most entree's cost more. Next door, the Candy Maker shop serves basic breakfast. We rented bikes from Coastal Bikes, and enjoyed excellent service; they delivered and picked up our bikes. Prices decrease for multiple day rentals, & staff very helpful . They also rent scooters for a reasonable $50/half day. Elevators were not slow nor busy, except at check out time. The elevators did smell of grease, but perhaps were recently serviced; a simple air freshener would help, or reprogram them to default to the ground floor with doors open to air them out. We loved the master shower in a small Jacuzzi tub with a very powerful spray, like I wish I had at home! Each unit is decorated by their owner. We were not able to figure out the FOUR remotes in the tv cabinet to play a DVD and gave up. But WiFi was free!

we stayed on the 6th floor. the place overall was very nice. On the first day we arrived we discovered that the sliding glass door to the balcony would not lock. went and explained at the front desk and I was told not to worry spider-man had not committed any robberies. incidentally they never fixed it while we were there.

Great weekend in Destin!
This property was excellent for the most part. The things that really stood out were the convenient access to the beach, great pool and heated pool option. it was 10 minutes form the Boardwalk and fishing as well. The room itself was very nice with a great view of the ocean. The only issue we had was our room located on the Penthouse floor and to be honest the beds in both rooms were simply terrible. They were extremely cheap and uncomfortable and everytime my spouse or I moved the other woke up. I stay in hotels for my job just about every week and have very rarely had a sleeping experience as poor as this. That said if we had to stay somewhere again it would be this property, just not that room, PH14.

We enjoyed our stay so much, me my husband and our almost 3 year old. We had a very nice room very clean and spacious our room was on second floor there wasn't much of a view but we didn't mind that at all. Short walk to the beach, pool was great for us and our son. We are definitely looking forward to our stay again next year!!!

The hotel was close to the beach and the pools were both very nice! The room was a good size (we were in a single bedroom) and the bathroom and kitchen were clean. The furniture and rug were a bit dated but overall the hotel was great. Close to great food and tasty treats!

Nice hotel short walk to the beach.
Sterling Shores in Destin was a great place to take our first vacation in four years. The room was excellent with a great view of the Gulf. The large pool was nice but our favorite place to relax besides the white sand beach was the smaller pool across the street on the beach. It was not as crowded and the Dos Gatos Cafe is in the pool area serving breakfast and lunch. Great food! The Back Porch restaurant is right behind the hotel as well. We will definitely return and stay at the same hotel.

Overall the resort is really nice. It is located close to everything. The grounds were well kept. The room was really well equipped and the view of the ocean was really great. The only problem was apparently since we booked trough this travel site their computer system did not recognize when we were checking out. So every morning we had maint. Room service and hotel personnel thinking we were checking out. Little annoying. But nbd.
