Great Experience
Our family enjoyed the natural setting of the cabin. The kids enjoyed playing with the games and the exploring the property. It was a great chance for our family to unplug and recharge.

Our stay was wonderful. No phonecalls could come in or out but we enjoyed that extra quiet. The WiFi helped with maps and boredom. The Coe county store down the road was really nice. Great food and prices without having to go too far. We did Fasnacht this year and this place was close by which helped greatly! The steep incline to get to the cabin shocked us at first but we soon mastered it.

Middle of nowhere
Very much in the middle of nowhere. Long drive to everywhere. Did not have internet the first couple of days because we were emailed the wrong password. Once we got that straightened out, the internet worked great.

I was surprised to have to make my own bed when we arrived
There are plenty of beds for the number of guests advertised, but the "commons" area cramped. We could not all eat at the table together. No room in the kitchen to cook when someone sitting at the table

Short getaway
Everything went smoothly from checking in and out. As stated the property is isolated but that was part of the allure. We visited Green Bank observatory, West Virginia wildlife center and Audra state park. Travelled from Pittsburgh area and stopped at Tygart lake and enjoyed the floatables on the lake for some good fun. So numerous things to do as well as night time fires at the cabin. Definitely recommend!

A perfect break from the world
My husband and I visited some friends in the area during the July 4th week. This cabin is the perfect accommodation. It is tucked away but easy to get to, surrounded by nature but equipped with all the modern amenity one would need even during an extended stay. It doesn’t look it from the outside but is actually quite spacious! It is so clean and tastefully decorated, and I felt at home and at ease right away. Communication with the host is easy and fast. Would definitely rent a cabin from Sheryl and Derek again!

Excellent cabin in the woods.
Very easy to rent. Great communication when I needed to add a dog deposit. The property is beautiful. The cabin has a couple quirks, but it’s obvious that some hard work went into building it. My buddies and I really enjoyed our stay here. It’s quiet, secluded, has all the amenities, including Wi-Fi. Split firewood would be a nice touch even if it was an extra fee. I give this cabin an 8/10. I will definitely consider it for next reunion trip. Thank you, it was wonderful.

Early Spring at "The Deerling"
Our mid-April stay at "The Deerling" was quiet and peaceful. Because the trees were not yet full, we were able to enjoy the view of the farm on the other side French Reeder. The turkeys and roosters with their morning rituals and the cattle lowing in the evening were a welcome change from our norm. Watching the deer up the ridge in the evening was enjoyable as well. Because there is much less town/city light saturation at the cabin, we were able to see more stars in the night sky than ever before -- just beautiful! The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and nicely done. The water pressure was a bit lacking as far as showering goes, but that's more an observation than a complaint. We really enjoyed having a full kitchen as other cabins we've visited did not afford that luxury. Overall, "The Deerling" was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives here lately. Much thanks to Cheryl and her family!

Great getaway
This was cozy little cabin that was a private and secluded, just what we wanted. The area is beautiful and a short drive to Helvetia and to Buchannon. If you plan to come in the winter and stay in, the fireplace was a nice touch!

Fantastic week
From booking all the way until leaving, everything about this was fantastic. Communication with the owners, the state of the house, and everything. The house was so clean and well kept, and peaceful and relaxing. We struggled to get our van up the hill on the rainy days, but it eventually made it. But all in all, everything about our week here was perfect.

Birthday weekend
Took my daughter and her friends for her 18th birthday weekend. I was so nervous about renting (hear all sorts of horror stories) but Cheryl was amazing and made me feel at ease. She was so helpful and sent us a list of local things we could go see and do. The cabin was right up our alley. Away from it all and so cozy. I wish we had stayed a little longer so we could have enjoyed it more. I highly recommend this listing. I hope we can make it back so we can enjoy longer.

The cabin was absolutely beautiful! We all enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed how the cabin was decorated! Only thing that sucked about the weekend was all the rain we got but we made the most of it inside. We played board games and just enjoyed ourselves. My husband and I had a great stay everyone we met was really friendly and helpful. Wildlife on the door step, lots of deer especially near dusk. Wonderful Wildlife Park roughly 20minutes drive away. Worth a visit. If you want to go to the nearby restaurant Hutte take cash as they do not do eftpos, very limited menu and amenities. Buckhannon is the nearest reasonable size town 45 minutes away so definitely stock before you arrive. The location ideally suits a family that just want to stay more or less in one location. There is a great area to play ball and games. The only thing we found was no wi-fi the password didn't work no matter how many versions we tried. If you are relying on GPS, it will only kick in as you are driving to a location. Helps if your vehicle is robust for dirt tracks.

Quick get away before back to school
Our experience with renting the cabin was fantastic. Communications with owner were clear and the checkin/out process was simple. The cabin was brand new and had everything we needed. The property was quiet and BEAUTIFUL. We hiked the property, fed fish in the pond and relaxed at the fire pit. The only time we left was to visit the nearby WV wildlife center which was more like a zoo and the kids loved it. Overall we were thrilled with this place and hope to come back again!!!

Perfect weekend getaway
We were staying in town for a family reunion. The cabin was very nice and the area was so relaxing. Make sure you get up before the sun so you can watch it shine through the trees in the morning! It’s beautiful here.

Just what we needed
We had a fantastic 4 day stay at this property. It is secluded, clean, and super quiet. The firepit is great and the cabin itself is fantastic and new. The vaulted ceilings in the living room are a huge plus. The bbq grill is high quality. They provided plenty of firewood for the firepit. Appliances are great and its overall a great spot for families and friends. The only thing to improve is for them to change the super soft mattress in one of the bedrooms. You will enjoy this cabin very much.

Beautiful cabin. However, do not, I repeat, do not follow gps! We did from Buckhanon and it was aweful. It took us on a cow path, through creeks, on nothing but gravel. Stay on main asphalt roads until French Reeder Road. Then it's easy.

Attention To Detail
Cheryl and Derrick are quite a team! The attention to detail in this property is wonderful; from the decor to supplies available! The location was just what we needed. Remote, but not so far that we couldn’t get to where we wanted to go easily. Kayaking the River was amazing and close by. We even had car issues the night before we left and Derrick willing came to help and was so gracious about it. He didn’t have to do thi as part of the rental, but this shows these folks character. We would definitely rent from them again. Thanks for a relaxing Fathers Day weekend for our extended family. The grandkids loved the woods and our dog felt like a king!!!

Can't wait to come back
The cabin is exactly as others wrote: clean, in quiet surroundings, in a beautiful location. Yet the earlier positive reviews did not do justice to how good our stay there was. You can sit on the porch for hours and not hear one man-made sound. We loved walking around the area. We have stayed in many VRBO homes and cabins over the past ten years and this is one of the best.

Quiet getaway
We enjoyed staying at this quiet cabin in the woods. It was clean and serene, and we appreciated the linens and towels provided. Our son enjoyed searching for salamanders and newts, and our dog was absolutely spoiled with all the nature walks. If you're looking for a quiet getaway in a fairly remote area, this is the cabin. We recommend the Fall Run Falls next to Holly River State Park, but note that getting there requires an AWD. Would recommend to friends and family.

I would highly recommend staying at the Deerling! It is super remote and very quiet. We brought quads to ride the trails which was fun. There’s an abundance of deer to watch and if your lucky, you might get to meet the sweetest dog from down the road! Peace and quiet was what we we’re looking for and we got 100% of that!

A Chance to Step Away From This Crazy World
If you're looking to "get away from it all," the Deerling Cabin is the place to do it. It's a brand new cabin located in a beautiful, isolated setting. We want to give special props to Cheryl and her husband. We had LOTS of snow during our extended weekend visit. They braved the storm to plow out the driveway and bring us a snow shovel. They went above and beyond to check on us and make sure we were safe and well informed of area road conditions for our trip home.

Nothing short of AMAZING!
My family traveled here on Dec 28 - Dec 30, just for a quick get away. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. The cabin is so beautiful, nice and clean. There was so much room to spread out and relax The property is so remote and peaceful. The views are amazing. It rained most of the time we were there but that was fine. The wifi was excellent for the kids to be able to watch TV if they wanted to. There were also board games at the cabin that we played as well. All we had to bring was ourselves, our clothes and food. Everything else was provided, which was amazing! All the bed linens, bathroom linens and everything you can think of for the kitchen were provided. The owners were very quick to respond when I had any questions. We will definitely be back and already looking to possibly vacation here a few times in the summer. Thank you! We had an amazing time!
