Great place to stay
Emeralda resort is an amazing place. Feel relaxed durimg my stay and the place is beautiful and clean as well. Just one thing that I sent them email to possibly request an upgraded room since Im a Gold member. But there was no reply until I visited there neither was upgraded even though there was not many guest without any notice. It would be nice if there was any explanation. Rather than, everythint was.perfect.

Good facilities: indoor pool etc. Room was fine but nothing special. Mixed quality breakfast. First the staff seemed friendly and flexible. Then we asked for a chair for the balcony. The only way to get the chair would be to pay for a room upgrade. Anyways they were burning trash outside so no need for the chair after all. Also some dust from the nearby factories. Overpriced tours and restaurant. Luckily some local options available. So overall we were expecting more and Emeralda did not compare very well to the other resorts we stayed during our trip.

Wonderful resort, terrible pool
The nature is amazing in the resort. I loved all the greens! The food was amazing too. It was fresh with lots of healthy options. However, the condition of the pool was terrifying. There were water insects in the pool including mosquito larvae. I think you should use chlorine at least. Also, there were ill-mannered guests, but no one stopped them ex) Smoking by the pool and throwing cigarette ash and buds on the floor, swimming in underwear and so on.

Amazing resort in a quaint setting
We stayed at Emeralda Resort for 4D/3N in Aug19. We had a family duplex and a delux double room. The rooms are well sized but the property is old and room amenities are quite basic. However the overall resort setting is extremely quite and peaceful and one gets the feel of being nestled in a quint hinterland surrounded by mountains and paddy fields. The quite setting of the place, resort facilities like pool side bar, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, mini golf for kids and multicuisine Organic Restaurant more than makes up any deficiency in the room upkeep and amenities. We organised our airport transfers and all tours through the resort and the service was of high standards. Our tour guide Mr. Thong was extremely courteous, hospitable and had an eye for every detail needed to make it a wonderful experience. We would strongly recommend him for anyone needing guided tours in English. The main tourist spots like TrangAn, Mua Cave, Tam Coc are within 25min driving distance and there is Van Long Nature reserve within 5min for a great cycling tour or boat ride. Overall this place is ideal for families looking for a quaint and peaceful vacation in an idyllic resort setting full of natural beauty and expansive landscape within couple hours of driving from Hanoi

Loved the area (Ninh Binh is beautiful) - it’s the only resort of this style in the area. Rooms are spacious and private, but could do with a “spruce” up, especially the bathroom. The private tour options were great, but expensive - maybe the option of cheaper group tours should be an option too

The resort is beautiful, the gardens are amazing and the rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is 10/10 and the food at the restaurant is delicious. There is a wine bar but it wasn’t open which was a shame and the mini golf green hasn’t been swept or maintained, heaps of leaves so was hard to play. I also didn’t like the fact you have to pay to use the resorts bikes, thought they’d be available to guests for free. All in all we had a really lovely comfortable stay and I’d definitely recommend to others.

Very nice and beautiful place. It's a huge resort. They have golf cart to transport you to your room. The room is clean but the mattress was too soft for me.

Faded glory
Chose this hotel to explore Ninh Binh province. Hotel and area nearby not as expected (cement factories, major roads, other hotels in disrepair) but well positioned for exploring the limestone outcrops and ancient temples; just a few kms away. Hotel could be improved aesthetically with a litte paint and deep cleaning.

The pools and room were great but this resort is lacking something. The prices are high but the staff are too formal and stern. Breatkast was noisy and a bit canteen like although the food available was good. Very comfortable room and great beds.

Relaxing atmosphere and interesting surroundings
We spend two nights at Emeralda and found the hotel very pleasing and nicely designed. The breakfast was good, and the other meals were okay. There were however a lot of Western choices, and the Vietnamese options were not as flavourful as what we have experienced elsewhere in Vietnam. Perhaps it was an attempt to adjust the cuisine to Western tastes, but it didn't work for us. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, however we did have a problem at checkout because our cash deposit was not returned to us. We had to retrieve it a day later in Hanoi, but in Vietnamese currency rather than the British Pounds we had deposited. It cost us an extra 30 minutes of our day in Hanoi to sort this out. On a positive note, we had a great time overall, in particular on the day trip that we had booked through reception. Our guide was excellent, he took us on a 3 hour hike through the rain forest, into a pre-historic cave, and to a primate rescue center. We found him to be very friendly, knowledgeable, and great company.

Family Two Night Stay at the Emerelda
The Emerelda was the perfect place to stay. The rooms were beautiful with the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked a one day tour which we enjoyed a lot. The guide was helpful and friendly. The hotel’s restaurant serves good food and the pool was in a lovely setting. The gardens were relaxing to walk around and the lake added to the peaceful atmosphere. My elderly parents also enjoyed the crazy golf ! I’d recommend the Emerelda to all.

Nice hotel with a good room and beautiful surroundings. Breakfast good. Main outdoor swimming pool could do with a clean as it wasn't very pleasent. Food and drink quite expensive with all of the "add on" costs.

Not worth the trip
For starters it's 3 hr drive from Hanoi airport and it only says 90mins on their website. The hotel driver who picked me up did not speak one word of english which made me nervous bc I couldn't ask him any questions. Its not 4 stars by American standards at all. I had a few spa treatments-all done by the same girl who was ok but I think the only person who works in the spa. Pool is under construction and drilling there all day so I couldnt sit out and relax there, nor eat lunch outside by the one restaurant open for lunch. Food was meh. Weekend was packed with local families. I couldnt enjoy breakfast because all the kids screaming and running and sticking their hands in the food. I ended up checking out early loosing 2 nights payment bc I prepaid and booked thru hotels.com.

Definitely a place to slow down, a must
Great facilities, proximity to Van Long Reserve (500km), and buffet. Room was spacious and clean for a family of 3. We enjoyed the kids' club, billiards, Organic Restaurant, bungalow pool, indoor and outdoor pools, gym and yoga. Great place to get away from fast paced Hanoi. Rented bikes to ride along the reserve. Expect a $12usd taxi from train station. We overstayed by a day as there is not too much going on in Ninh Binh (we were there 4 full days and 3 nights). About 25 min from ninh binh and 35 minutes taxi from Tam coc.

Quiet and Relaxing
If you are looking for some quiet and solitude, meditative settings to read or think, or a just a nice dip in a pool, this is a great place to go. Quality of food in the restaurant was very good. Sitting by pool in evening with a drink and listening to the water was nice. Also, the available amenities of tour guides, spa, etc., make it an attractive location for pampering yourself.

Beautiful landscapes and good service
The service was excellent, from check-in to restaurants.Very beautiful surroundings and landscapes. Do take one of the rowing boat rides that leave 500m outside the resort entrance. The rooms are a bit old, but clean. Only one of the two restaurants is usually kept open in the resort and a bit pricey for the mediocre food, so it gets a bit boring with food after one day.

Great Resort Hotel for a Quiet Family Getaway
Hotel was very inviting with its serene atmosphere. Hotel staffs were very polite and accommodating. When checking-in I made the last minute request to change the room type and the hotel managed to find a room that met my needs. Close proximity to the Tran An was perfect for a short trip outside of Hanoi.

Heavenly break only 2 hours from Hanoi
Lovely hotel. We had a bungalow in a cluster with its own pool. So if the main pool felt busy we could retreat back to our own pool which was shared by about 10 bungalows. It was very quiet during our weekend so rarely anyone in our pool. Room was huge with a bath as well as shower. We will definitely return.
