    Pocket Guide: Vietnam

Vietnam is graced with breathtaking national parks, a ravishing coastline, dynamic cities, verdant mountains, and a vibrant culture that makes it a true delight for travelers to discover.

Most visitors start their trip by booking Vietnam hotels in Hanoi, the capital city that blends the history and chicness of old Asia with a new dynamic face. The city is quickly evolving, but you can still get a great sense of the Vietnamese identity in the tangled webs of streets. There is plenty to see in Hanoi, including the Parisian-inspired architecture in the French Quarter and Old Quarter, the wondrous Temple of Literature, and the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh.

The city is very affordable compared to other major urban metropolises in Asia, and you can find many cheap hotel deals in Vietnam that offer rooms at reasonable rates. That same affordability also extends to restaurants, and you can feast on delectable dishes like pho, sizzling cha ca, crispy banh xeo, and garlicky rau muong for low prices at some of the top restaurants in the country.

Outside of Hanoi, some of the best hotels in Vietnam are located in Ho Chi Minh City, once known as Saigon. Today, it is the country's largest and most capitalist city, but it also played an essential role in the fight for independence. This importance is reflected in sites like the War Remnants Museum and Reunification Palace.

Book special Vietnam hotel deals in Ho Chi Minh City so that you have more to spend at the bustling Ben Thanh Market. Since the 17th century, the market has been the place to go for people watching and finding great deals on artisan crafts, textiles, and clothing. Don't be afraid to haggle – you may just get a special discount on the handmade wares.

Tourism is slowly growing in the highland town of Bac Ha, making it a great place to book a cheap Vietnam hotel deal and escape the tourist crowds that sometimes choke Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Far calmer than the larger cities, Bac Ha is known for its weekend markets, outlandish Vua Meo palace, and traditional restaurants that serve up tall glasses of the local moonshine.

Find Vietnam hotel packages and make reservations at a hotel in the Mekong Delta to experience some of the most lush and charming environments in Vietnam. Quaint towns dot the riverbanks, floating markets wind down the waters, the local orchards drip with exotic fruits, and white-sand beaches and impressive Khmer pagodas are just a short drive away.

We were upgraded to a very nice suite and found everything to be of a very high standard. Excellent restaurants, especially the roof top restaurant. Extensive breakfast buffet available.

    "Great Hotel/Great Staff"
Only had 3 nights in HCM City so good central location with good service and good tour advice was essential - and this hotel came up trumps on all levels. Room was quiet, had a view (albeit a lot of the views in HCM City are city views) and service was terrific. Staff were friendly, not pushy and couldn't do enough to help me choose and arrange some great tours. Breakfast was very good and standard of room was also very good value for money. I would stay here again.

It's all good in standards, but the taxi drivers are tricky, even intercontinental's taxi drivers were trying to drive around to get more fare, the city is full of bikes that only in the hotel I feel beautiful for a while.

    "Excellent location with helpful staff"
First of all, I need to commend the staff at the reception for their impeccable service. When we arrived, they allowed us to deposit our luggages with them, use their changing room and offered useful advice on where we can have a quick and good bite in the morning. The staff they hire at the reception can speak English fairly decently so it was no problem getting help. Apart from recommendin food places, mode of transport, directions and other needs, they will try their best to help you as much as they can. One such example, among others, was when they helped me contact the taxi they called at once when I told them that I left my phone in the taxi. The taxi driver drove back to the airport in the nick of time to pass me my phone. It was very reassuring when they said they would check back within the next ten minutes if I had received my phone from him. When I wanted to borrow some tape and scissors as a temporary fix to my worn off shoe sole, another receptionist on duty let me borrow these tools for the whole night too. I returned them as soon as I was done of course. We had a family room for the four of us, and it was very comfortable and the room was clean with good lighting too. They offered complimentary fruit every day and gave us a nice cold banana smoothie as a welcome drink on our first day too. All in all, it was a good experience and my friends and I really enjoyed our stay.

We booked here for six nights looking for some rest and relaxation and we were not disappointed. Staff were very obliging and helpful and the hotel had a good vibe. The pool area was nice for a relaxing time and was well utilised. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would definitely return, given the opportunity.

    "Classy, Quiet, Friendly 5* hotel"
I had no expectations of the hotel before staying there, and really didn't do much (any) research on it either. I was simply recommended the hotel by several people, and the Sunrise didn't disappoint. Shame the beach directly in front was trashed and closed (due to a recent typhoon), but 50 metres to the left another beach was available. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean, staff super friendly, breakfast buffet second to none, pools magnificent. The only downside was too soft pillows, but stick two of them in the one pillowcase and that will get you through!!
