We booked this hotel because of its location, close to where we were visiting. There are a lot of nice details that we enjoyed: the free bikes at the front entrance, easy parking close to the room, great pool area, free morning coffee/tea, and in general a very nice vibe. The things the hotel can improve on: check-in wait was excessive, staff at the front desk do not smile, small tiny breakfast pastries are $5 each. Which brings me to the food. There is no breakfast, there is coffee/tea, expensive pastries and you can order a breakfast sandwich at the bar. It was ok for us because we were planning on having brunch elsewhere anyway, but note for travelers who appreciate breakfast. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and this was only ok. The starters came out fast and the guacamole was delicious. The kids roasted chicken was too dry and we sent it back. My daughter exchanged it for noodles and it came drenched in a butter garlic sauce, not so tasty. The main courses took a very long time to arrive, the tacos were good. The halibut was bone dry. So dry in fact, that we had trouble getting the meat off the skin. Maybe the cook was having a bad day. We enjoyed our stay but weren't impressed. The rooms are located on two levels around the pool area. Consider asking for a pool view rather than the boring parking lot. And if you have trouble with the stairs, ask for a lower level.

This is a newer hotel with great amenities and very clean. My only complaint would be the soccer fields directly outside my window which was quite loud, it became much more tolerable with the window closed; however, I much preferred to have the window open for the nice sea breeze.

"Convenient hotel to old Goleta and the UCSB campus"
The room was clean and the bathroom was nice and large. The lighting was terrible in the bathroom and not so good in the main room. The breakfast was a disappointment. The offerings were meager and the space for eating was too small.

"Best of the outdoors for those who do not like camping or roughing it. Expensive. Clean."
Expensive, but worth it at least once. Very clean, well done. Comfortable, quiet - good policy of "no cars in canyon". Leave your car at parking area (after initial luggage drop) and short walk to cabin. Staff friendly. Good for those into peace, quiet and enjoying nature without having to actually camp.

University of California-Santa Barbara resides in this coastal suburb. Goleta Beach’s pier, sandy beach, and barbecue pits attract summer crowds while Stow House is the focal point for local history and events. For four months each year, Monarch butterflies call The Coronado Butterfly Preserve home but visitors can hike year-round through the park’s eucalyptus groves and along the Ellwood Bluffs.
