Absolutely Stunning
Words can not describe! So sad to leave this beautiful paradise. The most comfy bed we have ever slept in! Views and bush setting were outstanding. The furnishings and this beautiful cabin were incredible and we can’t thank the hosts enough!

Amazing Getaway Spot
We had an amazing time, the cabin was in a beautiful spot with an incredible outlook through the bush out to the sea. Though the room is fairly basic, it offered everything we needed and the bed was super comfy.

Amazing place located in some spectacular bush. Great little Bach with everything you need
We loved spending a few nights here. Very close to some great restaurants and beaches. The Bach has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Well situated off the road up a long driveway surrounded by native bush. Views from the private deck overlooking coromandel. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Angela.

Great stay.
Lovely little studio cabin with a view of the harbour. Nice spot to relax. Well-appointed with all the basic necessities. Easy to follow instructions for driveway, gas heating, barbecue, etc

Hideaway in the bush
We loved staying in Le Cabanon, it had the most incredible view and lovely bush surrounding. You definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Very close to amenities and beautiful beaches in Tryphena. Would definitely stay there again!

Disappointing
The property and bedding was very dusty , I found the bed extremely uncomfortable, sagging on my side ! Woke with a Sore back sore neck ! The bbq was dirty , and the cleaning tools were extremely dirty .We travel regularly and were dissapinted with the stay here for the price charged . Sorry but just being honest.

I am so sorry that you had a bad experience and I will definately pass your review onto our property manager who is charge of the cleaning, and we will also definately review the cleaning practices. However, in her defense guests are requested to clean the barbeque prior to leaving and this obviously hadn't happened. Regarding the bed, I will also look into this as I know how important a good bed is when you are on holiday. We have only ever had compliments in the past about how comfortable the bed has been, so will try and find out what has changed

Loved our stay!
This is place is a real gem- nestled in the native bushes you have all the privacy..a real retreat! Angela our host was awesome, special touch’s like fresh flowers and welcome card, fresh eggs ad milk fresh was lovely . It was great to embrace the off the grid lifestyle! We LOVED our stay! Beautiful remote getaway
An amazing wee cabin nestled amongst the bush with great sea views and perfect deck for star gazing. This property was perfect. Really enjoyed our stay. Check in process was easy and Angela provided great instructions on how to find the property. Highly recommend staying here.

Quaint and remote getaway
Enjoyed our stay at Le Cabonon! Cute, quiet and refreshing getaway. The place could have done with a more thorough clean as it was quite dusty and there were a lot of spiders/spider webs. There was some welcome chocolate in the fridge that had gone a little white and discoloured which made me think it’d been there for quite some time. Other than that, great place to stay in Barrier.

Beautiful views, after afew wee hiccups with check in great stay.
Stunning views in a beautiful home. We loved the fresh vegetables and eggs. Bonus to have some fresh bread waiting for us. We would recommend checking in with the property owner prior to arriving to ensure they have the correct details for your stay.

3 nights at Tryphena
Great location...comfortable bed. Tricky driveway which you do get used too. It's very close to other property... which we didn't realize and we had trouble passing vehicles parked at that property one night and had to inch by very carefully getting out in the dark to guide the driver...just inconsiderate parking. Property was not ready on our arrival but after 20mins with no phone being answered we managed to locate Angela who took us down to a Cafe for a coffee...picked us up 50mins later and put a bottle of wine in the fridge...so handled very well. Cleanliness wise...a better job could have been done ...dusty shelves...fridge tops and grubby cutlery drawers....bleach marks on pillow cases ...made it feel less than satisfactory. Some water in the fridge would have been appreciated as you are advised not to drink the water. Property has lovely views....but is not so private with plenty of cars and people going up and down on property both sides of us. We did enjoy our time there though and if cleaning and neighbour parking was followed up would totally recommend....

Paradise Aotea
Great location and comfortable accomodation with everything we needed. So much to explore, great tracks for walking and abundant bird life in this paradise. We were impressed by the fare com the local eateries too.

At natures doorstep
The cabin enables full appreciation of the beautiful natural surroundings although it is closer to other accommodation than we had imagined. Driveway is as described by others .... somewhat scary. Luxurious linen was a real treat.

Great location (few mn from local store), by the water, a hop over the hills from Medlands Beach. Very functional, nestled on the side of the hill among pungas. A perfect getaway
Such a beautiful spot. The cabin so clean, so peaceful & a perfect getaway. The deck was lovely to relax on in the giant beanbags, the bed and bifold windows fantastic, the bed sooo comfy....only bad thing was that we had to leave! (After the generosity of a late check-out) We'll definitely be back & am already recommending to my friends. Thank you Angela ❤️

So Glad We Chose You!
From the moment we arrived on the island, I didn't stop smiling and Le Cabanon was everything we hoped it would be. Secluded, peaceful and a little bit quirky. The only thing we had trouble with was the shower and Eunate had someone come fix it that same morning. It is close enough to everything in Tryphena so that you can walk down for a coffee in the morning - go for dinner in the evening and walk back UP to home in the evening . The driveway IS steep in places but we got the hang of driving it and walking it was good exercise. It was lovely to have milk, tea and coffee awaiting us, but there were no cleaning products which I thought strange . We had to provide our own washing up liquid and a cloth to wipe down benches etc. Loved sitting in the beanbags on the deck in the late afternoon sun, watching the Kaka clown around on the branches above us. Would highly recommend and hopefully return some day..

Flawless Stay
Le Cabanon is perfect and contains everything you need to have a self sufficient stay on the island. The owner / manager / cleaner is only ever a text away. The house manual is very helpful though, meaning you wouldn't really need to make contact unless something went wrong. Even if you're there to get outdoors and see the island, the space is great to come back to and relax in in the morning. It's nestled in the bush and there are plenty of Tui and Kaka present. To anyone using reviews to make a decision as to whether to visit the island, we would definitely recommend a 'medium' 4WD for the driveway and the island generally. This was made clear in the listing though. Would recommend to all and would love to stay again.

Great place to stay if you want to have a break from everyday life. House is clean and has everything you need for short stay. The best part of it is window: just staying in the bed and looking trough it, we were able to see fentail, tui and kaka; at night ruru was breaking the silence while we were staring at the sky. My idea of paradise.
We loved staying at La Cabanon. It is a cosy tree-top hideaway that we will never forget. It suited our needs perfectly, at the end of an active day, La Cabanon is an ideal space to rejuvenate and relax.

Relaxing stay at Le Cabanon
Me and my boyfriend had a very lovely stay at Le Cabanon. Perfect privacy and all the basic necessities plus some luxury. Loved especially the views and bathrobes:) There were good detailed info about the stay at the place and tips for the visit on the Island which made our stay very pleasant. Le Cabanon is amazing place to view the stars at evening from the balcony or even from the comfiness of the bed (one of the best beds on our travels!). Made some delicious food with the grill with quality ingredients found at the near food store and enjoyed the nature around the island conveniently as tramping tracks were easy to access with a car. Would have wanted to stay longer.

Great stay
We really enjoyed our week-long stay at Le Cabanon. It's a simple but well-appointed and comfortable cabin, with some really nice touches, close to Tryphena's amenities and a good base for exploring the rest of the island. Angela was very helpful and, although she was away while we were there, her property manager, Jess, took good care of us. We would happily stay again.

This is a quiet, clean, simple and utterly beautiful spot tucked on the hill next to Tryphena. We loved our stay, the bed is incredibly comfortable, the kitchen is minimal but everything you would need for two, the bathroom is lovely especially with the window looking directly into thick bush while you shower. There is so much privacy, simplicity and beauty at this property. It is perfect for a couple looking for a getaway or a special occasion.
