Parking. No smoking.. The property is conveniently positioned just outside Trefin, an attractive coastal village in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The popular coastal haunts of Porthgain and Abercastle are only 5 minutes by car, while the city of St David’s with its spectacular cathedral and Bishops Palace is around a 10-minute drive. Ty Gwartheg’s central position also offers great access to numerous beaches including Aberieddy, Traeth Llyfn, Whitesands and Newgale; some of the best beaches in the county.
The tastefully decorated property is brimming with character and offers a gorgeous retreat for a couple or family looking for a quiet and relaxing escape.
The kitchen has white wooden units, a pine kitchen table and country chairs, which make an ideal place for family meals. Colourful and comfortably furnished bedrooms have pretty cottage windows with lovely garden views.
The gorgeous sitting room has a feature stone wall with a warming wood burning stove for cosy nights around the fire. Outside, there is a pretty garden at the back with table and chairs for al fresco meals, while to the front, enjoy glorious views of the coast. On a clear day, you can even glimpse the Wicklow Mountains on the east coast of Ireland.
Abereiddy and the Blue Lagoon, a chosen host for the electrifying Red Bull Cliff Diving, is just 3 miles away, while the eye-catching beach of Traeth Llyfn can be accessed on foot from the same location. A further 15-minute drive takes you to the golden sands of Whitesands and Newgale, which are renowned for their surfing and watersports, as well as their stunning beauty. There are numerous other beaches and quieter coves to be discovered along this enigmatic stretch of coastline, as well as some seriously spectacular coastal walks.
Porthgain, a mere 5 minutes’ drive, is a small, picturesque harbour which offers one of the best fish n chip restaurants found anywhere in Wales, as well an olde worlde pub serving excellent bar food and two art galleries showing the work of local artists.
Trefin itself offers a lovely food serving pub and café, while nearby Square and Compass has a petrol station with a well-stocked convenience store.
The nearby fishing villages of Aberfelin and Abercastle both offer pretty little sand and shingle coves, which are popular for dog walking and fishing. A further 5 minutes to the north discover the lovely rocky coves of Abermawr and Aberbach as well as Melin Tregwynt, an ancient woollen mill famous for its woollen blankets and knitwear.
Strumble Head is also easily accessible from here which offers dramatic coastal scenes, a magnificent island lighthouse, and some of the best wildlife watching around. This unperturbed and breathtakingly beautiful headland is frequented by a variety of sea birds, as well as one of the largest seal colonies in Europe. Expect to see plenty of baby pups basking on the deserted beaches in Spring.
