Private Farmhouse
We had a family reunion/ thanksgiving/ and celebration of a 90 th birthday at the farm. We loved the property. It was very kid friendly we had toddlers ages 2-4 that especially loved helping feed the goats and hanging out in the playroom. For the adults we enjoyed the calm laid back atmosphere. We would definitely book again

A magical place
Fantastic location -- nothing soothes the soul like waking up every morning and feeding goats and horses, or petting Precious the Cat. If you're looking to spend a weekend in Frederick with friends, this is the place to be.

Fun Times on the Farm
We had a most fantastic weekend on the farm! The house was spacious with modern amenities while maintaining the charm of its 200 year old origins. The weather didn’t fully cooperate, but the large covered porch was the perfect spot for our family to sit and watch the rain while the kiddos enjoyed the tic tac toe and jenga blocks. The location is perfectly situated within minutes of the city of Frederick and just a short drive from various wineries and breweries. We all enjoyed the farm itself…the goats provided lots of entertainment, the fields and barns gave the kids lots of space to roam, and everyone was excited to snag at least one fish from the ponds. The host was responsive, provided suggestions, and maintained communication throughout the weekend to ensure our happiness. We all agreed that this was one of the very best experiences that we’ve had! Many thanks to Jeff for making his home available!

Beautiful farmhouse!
We stayed with family for Christmas. The farmhouse was very charming and well appointed. The farm is full of horses and goats that are so fun to be around. We will definitely be back soon!

BIG part of the Best Day Ever!
Our experience at the farm was beyond fantastic. The owners and property managers are wonderful and extremely considerate. We felt very welcomed to a stay at what felt like a family home, not a rental. The property is beautiful and the house is very large, but feels extremely cozy. We had lots of space and comfort with 10 adults and 4 children. The beds were comfortable and each room is unique, which definitely added to the stay. My family just absolutely loved the house, and kept repeating it, like every future large family gathering should take place there. We took advantage of the fire pit and the grounds. The kids really enjoyed running around and feeding the goats and petting the friendly farm cat. This was the second time that we have stayed at the farm. When I got engaged last year, I couldn't picture my wedding weekend without a stay there. This second experience was as wonderful as the first. Out of town family gathered together along with the bridal party, such a lovely place truly added to our beautiful weekend. We were able to take some pictures there between the ceremony and reception on the gorgeous grounds and the pictures are stunning. This is such a magical place run by kind people. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you for sharing the farm with us, it was a big part of the best weekend of my life. ❤️💍🎃

Great family setting
We were here for a wedding. We only live 30 minutes away but we wanted to be close to the venue and have the whole family in a place where we could hang out instead of driving home or staying in hotel rooms. Everyone had a blast! Peaceful, plenty to do and 5 minutes from Glen Ellen Farms, where the wedding was.. Our 4 boys, ages 20 to 25, one fiancé and 3 dogs stayed with us. My mom and my brother and his wife stopped in to visit and stayed for the day because it was just such a beautiful and relaxing place. Our two friends, who were in town from Pittsburgh for the wedding, came over and said the place felt like home. Highly recommend!

Amazing property
We stayed here with a few families for a soccer tournament. It was the perfect location for us! The kids had an absolute blast being able to be outside all around the property. Jeff was very easy to communicate with and very thorough with his instructions! Would highly recommend this property

Family get together on the farm
We had a fantastic family get together at the farmhouse. There were 13 of us ranging in age from 13 to 83, and we all had a great time. The teenagers loved sleeping in the loft together, and there were plenty of rooms and beds for adults. There were so many indoor and outdoor places to hang out but we mostly relaxed on the fabulous screened porch. We enjoyed seeing the animals, hanging around a fire in the fire pit, and cooking in the big kitchen. The house is serene, comfortable and had everything we needed for a great weekend. We hope to go again!

Relaxing, transporting, wonderful trip
The property is incredibly scenic and was just what the family needed to unplug and relax. My father, typically a very go-get-‘em busy man that never chills actually got some much needed sleep because the environment was so calming and pleasant. It’s close enough to convenient spots, restaurants, grocery, etc, that the whole party was at ease. Highly recommend.

Great farm house experience….
We really enjoyed our stay at this amazing farm house. The property is beautiful and very relaxing. It was fun watching the goats, horses, geese and fishing in the pond. The owner was very responsive and provided all details about the house, property and animals. This a great spot for groups and I hope to come back soon with the kids.

Lovely Family Gathering
The farm was a perfect getaway for the holiday weekend. The goats, barn cats, horses, and geese provided a lots of enthusiasm with our grandsons who loved feeding them (the goats) and trying to find them (the barn cats). There was lots of exploring the property and observing nature. The house has everything you need, a well stocked kitchen, a large gathering room with comfortable furniture and a fire stove, play rooms in the attic with tons of toys and books, and comfortable beds and big bedrooms. The other two rooms on the first floor had a table for puzzles or for dining and a large office space with wonderful windows and a french door to a patio. (You have to be flexible with the bathrooms because the upstairs bath is in one of the bedrooms and the other full bath is downstairs off the kitchen.) All in all a property that has something for everyone!!

A one-day stay
Because of the covid situation and the weather, our visit was shorter than planned, but very pleasant. House was clean, with lots of room and fun things for the kids -- animals outside and a well-stocked upstairs playroom. Owners were accommodating and quick to respond to texts. One small quibble. It was a gloomy day, so a little more lighting in the living room would have been helpful.

Wonder Thanksgiving Weekend!!!
There were 8 of us (Grandparents. parents and grandchildren) staying at this really nice property with lots of room in the farmhouse with two barns to explore and even an old garage with a pool table the kids loved. Horses, goats, cats and geese all made for a great weekend. The house was super clean with a great kitchen with a wood stove for added comfort. We want to visit again in the Spring.

A Retreat Oasis
There is nothing like breathing the clean air at Idle-wild farm. The memories we made as a family staying there will be cherished forever. Jeff communicated with me several times to make sure we had everything before we arrived. The check in was super smooth, and checkout at 12 noon was more than sufficient. The farm is a great gathering space with lots of seating and wonderful views from the upstairs deck and the screened in porch. The morning greetings by the geese and ducks were better than any alarm clock! For us the farm was like "base-camp" for a wedding held just up the road at a local venue. Family were able to visit together in a home environment that was better than a hotel. Thanks for making us feel like family!

Family get together to celebrate multiple birthdays and play games together
The farmhouse was very charming and had plenty of room and bedrooms to accommodate multiple families. But we enjoyed the screened deck on the 1st level because it was large enough for the whole family plus the in-laws. Everyone enjoyed feeding the goats.

Perfect farm getaway!
We absolutely loved staying at this property and look forward to going back! Jeff was incredibly kind, responsive and super helpful. The house is perfectly stocked and very clean. The screened porch was our favorite hangout spot. The kids LOVED the farm animals: the horses, farm cats, goats, geese...all a huge hit. They also really enjoyed playing in the upstairs playroom. It is a very family friend spot, not to mention all the great downtown restaurants, bars, etc. that Frederick has to offer. Highly recommend this property and Jeff!
