Relaxing getaway
We loved our stay at Fred’s property. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate enough for us to enjoy the water, but the views and cozy cottage provided a relaxing time away nonetheless. Location was great — off the beaten path but still a quick drive to town.

Deck of tranquility
Despite the apartment being above a garage, it was one of the most spacious vacation rentals we have ever been in so it truly felt like a home away from home. The deck is just above the river where we watched blue herons and woodpeckers. The kitchen was well-equipped and a supermarket nearby. King bed, plenty of towels, wifi and streaming tv. Within 15 minutes of the shopping area, we did it all: antiquing, dining, walking. We drove to Windmill cove and the nature preserve to see some pristine beaches. We had dinner in Irvington at The Office for our anniversary dinner. Highly recommend it. We went to the cidery and vineyard. But above all, we enjoyed relaxing on the deck most of all. It was tranquil, and a wonderful getaway. It isn't far from Richmond yet it felt like another world. Fred was always in reach and was kind enough to offer earlier check in and later check out. Lovely stay all in all.
