Historical cottage in cute walkable neighborhood.
Get ready to be immersed in history and antiques in this adorable cottage in Mt Gretna! Removed from the modern world, traffic, the city as well as modern conveniences. We love antiques & the wraparound porch, had a little issue with the mildew/mold and had to open all the windows & doors during our stay. Remember to bring your own hair dryer, iron or steamer & charger banks. All bedrooms are located upstairs & don’t have modern electrical outlets & not a lot of lights. Recommend arriving well before dark as it can be a bit difficult to find your way around plugging in lamps & AC units. The beds are all pretty small- I think they are all doubles so be mindful when booking. Met some very friendly neighbors & had a lovely weekend! Stairs are not suitable to the 2nd floor for the very young or people with mobility issues. I’m healthy and fit and almost took a tumble- very narrow, no handrails all the way up and extremely short deck. Just be cautious and enjoy it for what it is. The neighborhood is full of birds and the lake is a super short drive. WiFi is listed on the description but it was not operable during our stay. The surrounding neighborhood is adorable and there’s a pizzeria and ice cream shop at the bottom of the hill. We came in for a mother/ daughter weekend so we were fine with the beds etc.

Quaint and Comfortable
The best parts about this cottage are its location in Camp Meeting, which is a quaint, quiet, wooded, camp-like community, walkable to dining and family friendly events, the wrap around porch, and the time period decor. The sleeping arrangements with 4 mixed gender teens were a challenge, but if your teen/preteen, our you (parent) don't mind taking the couch, there is plenty of room for 6 guests like is in this cottage. There is only one shower, so planning bathing times is important unless some of your group prefer baths. The house was tidy upon our arrival and since we're tidy people, it wasn't difficult to follow the check out requirements to avoid "extra fees for not taking out the garbage or putting away the clean dishes from the drying rack". Since we brought our own sheets and towels, we did that part, too, so I am dissatisfied with the high fee included (and "not negotiable" as I inquired. Without that high cleaning fee, I would write that the price matched the accommodations. Truly, the location made the stay magical, so it is easy to overlook small bothers. We opened the windows as we don't like AC and the "musty smell" (which is normal of an older home in the woods) was not so bothersome. One should expect higher prices for the area restaurants as well as a $24/adult fee for day access to the lake and beach, which was not explained on the listing. I have already let family know that we should come back and stay again, but I will plan for a cot or two.

Would not do again.
Interesting walk back in time however, strong musty smell throughout the whole house. No pre-warning of size of beds when we were required to bring our own sheets and towels. Interior stairs seriously under code. A danger to older folks and young children. No railing for part of the staircase. Received splinters from holding onto the paneling On the way down. Uncomfortable.

Quaint, well-priced, cozy accommodations.
We stayed here while attending the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. It was a nice little location nestled in a cute community. Pricing was reasonable for the accommodations. The wrap around porch was really cute. The kitchen had endless tools, silverware and containers/serving pieces. I will say, the older decor was a little spooky for a group of millennials not super well-versed in antiquing, but since we stayed at the end of September it fit the season. :) A few things to note: - There is no privacy upstairs as the walls are open at the top. We could all hear each other chatting before sleep, etc. If I had realized this ahead of time, I would have brought my noise machine and headphones to sleep. I don't think this is super clear in the listing (maybe I just skimmed over it?). - The water pressure in the shower was not great. The other thing to note: the local area is really cute and clearly very community oriented which means there are HUGE speed bumps all over the place. Our low-riding Prius full of people bottomed out a few times. If your car rides lower than ours, be ware.

Not comfortable
The house is dark and worn. Much of the furniture has seen better days with sagging seats and ripped upholstery. Upstairs bedrooms have 3/4 walls that make it more of a dormer. If one person snores, all will hear it. The door to the upstairs bathroom is very difficult to open and close. The downstairs bathroom (with a shower) is very small and dark. The tv is very small. We were in town for a wedding, so luckily we did not have to spend much time in the house.

Great, unique, relaxing get away place
The house and the community are very unique and provided a great place for our family to have a retreat away as we spent time hiking, reading, relaxing and enjoying nearby Hershey park. Front porch was a favorite spot for our family! Neighbors were friendly and helpful. The listed twin bed was shorter than a regular twin bed but all the beds were comfortable. Be aware that you need bring small kitchen trash bags, paper products, sheets, and towels. Overall, we had a great time!

We stayed here for the Celtic Fling weekend at the Renaissance Fairie. It was the perfect location! The place was well done with antique furniture and decor. The only drawback is the only shower...its tight. The only other option is a beautiful claw foot tub...maybe add a shower attachment to that?

Relaxing
We stayed here during our vacation to Hershey it was so relaxing to come home to! Super easy and quick commute. When we first got there our key had gotten mixed up and we couldn't get in but the owners were super fast to bring us the correct key even though it was after hours around 6pm. There was plenty of supplies to cook with. The kids were never bored and theres only one small tv but they didn't even watch it they went outside to play which is totally not like them 😅 no complaints at all! My son is already asking if we can go back and just live there. Oh, most of the outlets upstairs are only 2 prong instead of 3, it is an older home, but I didn't think about that before we left and had to charge our phones downstairs but other than that perfect!

Traveled to area for youth ice hockey tournament with 16 yr old son, and for my 18 yr old to visit w friend at a local college. Figured we'd catch a Hershey Bears Ice Hockey team, and if there was more time, we would have visited Hershey Park! House was super charming, felt like we traveled back in time. The kitchen was impressive, lots of dishes and glasses - I enjoyed putting meals together in it. And, the wrap around porch was super charming, and perfect to air out multiple ice hockey bags!

Nice location in Mt. Gretna
This was a good stay and location for our group in Mt. Gretna! Lovely porch, bedrooms, etc. One caveat would be that the listing we saw said 2 full baths, but one of the bathrooms had just a tub (no shower or combo), which was a concern for getting lots of guests out the door in the mornings. Keep that in mind if that's a priority for you - otherwise, the stay was good and the location as advertised!

Beautiful Victorian in Peaceful setting
My sisters & I were delighted with the home, beautiful Victorian with many interesting furnishings and pieces that decorate the rooms, making you feel like you stepped back in time! The front porch is on a walking path, so the parking is behind the house, we fit two cars on an angle, no problem. The large front porch allows for many relaxing hours among the trees for relaxing in the morning and evening. The walks around the Mount Gretna Camp meeting were delightful, each home with their unique character! Very friendly neighbors available to chat if you wish. Convenient bathroom on first floor has sink commode, & shower. 2nd floor, 3 bedrooms & bathroom with tub, sink, & commode. fully equipped kitchen with microwave, 12 cup coffee maker with filters, refrigerator , dish sets, pots & pans, flatware, knives, & kitchen tools. Large kitchen table. I used the grill which was in fine condition. Beautiful indoor shutters on all windows. All was in amazing condition!!! Easy day trips to Lancaster: Outlets, Smorgasbord, unique shops, wine tasting, & an amazing show at Sight & Sound. Lititz: Wertz candies, Unique shops, Pretzel factory tour, Wilbur Chocolates, & restaurants. Restaurant, Pizza shop & ice cream near by. bar & entertainment close by in walking distance.
