Amazing beach, and the area is great for hiking, eating, etc. The hotel is a bit funky, especially the pool, but the staff is wonderful. I would go back

Beautiful location on the beach (stunning views). Hotel is dated, but clean and comfortable. Next to popular surfing spot; which is fun to watch. Parking in front of hotel was crowded, but it clears out when the surfers leave for the day. The pool area is beautiful.

The hotel was very safe with excellent customer service from all staff members. However, it lacks some luxuries that I am accustomed to have at most hotels, such as: tea/coffee machine in the suite and hair dryer in the bathroom.

While the staff was friendly, breakfast decent and the view did not disappoint, the facility itself *definitely* shows its age, beyond "quaint". The room was not as pictured but bare minimum. The shower, however, was surprisingly hot with great pressure. Better signage to move around facility would be appreciated

On the Beach, historical and value for money!
I’ve frequented this hotel since I was a kid and while on vacation in Lisbon, I couldn’t think of a better more nostalgic place to stay. Historical and economical set in the most beautiful location on Guincho Beach. Free breakfast and the staff are all beyond fantastic! I will always be back.

The older rooms were very shabby. Dated decore . The renovated rooms were quite nice. They upgraded us which was fine. The place has lots of character. It is like going back in time. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Breakfast was good. Amazing beach setting!

What a disappointment. If outdated, smelly, dark, and fogged up windows were our thing this place would be great! Our friends, the ants in the dining room and mosquitoes in the bedroom, say 5 stars, but I am going to have to disagree. The positives: - This would be a great location for the Shining remake. - you can open the dirty windows to see a clear view - the dirty furniture in the common areas encourages you to keep moving - the "breakfast" is easily skipped to reduce calories - the staff doesn't waste your time with pleasantries - the phone in the bathroom doesn't work so you aren't interrupted while attending to your bath - the dark hallways give you a sense of adventure So, why two stars instead of 1? The bed was clean and the beach was lovely. Book at your own risk.

Fix the whole place!!!!!!! Air conditioning did not work properly, a constant issue. We left the window open and then realized mosquitos r a problem. Told the front desk and they said oh yes the bugs r a problem. We should have been told that at check to not open the window. Or here's a thought put screens on the windows. My husband was so chewed up by the bugs that we went to the pharmacy for medicine and the pharmacist told us if his bites weren't better in a couple of days he should go to the hospital. All the fault of the hotel.

What I liked is only one thing - location which is perfect, on a beach with a beautiful view! Everything else was really bad: 1. I could not see any of the 4* this hotel claims to have - it should be rather named a Sufers Hostel, not a hotel. 2. Room was not clean, it wasn't vacuumed and cleaned properly, leaving a lot of dirt and dust 3. Swimming pool was not working, which I wasn't told earlier, it was a big disappointment (it starts from June, which wasn't indicated) 4. Breakfast quality and choice was poor like in a no-star hotel; natural yoghurt was available only on the first day; then not anymore, when I asked about it and kept asking day after day, I was told by the waiter that it's not and will not be available; this is unimaginable in a 4* hotel 5. On one day cleaning staff took my sun cream; I ran after them, first one pretended she doesn't know anything, when I insisted that I needed it and it was in the bathroom, she brought it after a few minutes; I will leave it without any further comment, had to lock everything up during following days for fear more things disappear. 6. Wifi Internet was not available in rooms, only in public spaces, which is very disappointing in a 4* hotel these days 7. TV in my room was micro size, maybe 20-22", I haven't seen those in years... it may not be the most needed thing for me, but still, disappointing 8. Last and positivie - reception staff was rather friendly and helpful during check-in and check-out I do hope you consider it.

The fantastic view was obstructed by windows not cleaned. As there was a storm raging at the time, it was probably not possible to keep the windows clean for more than a day or so, thus understandable to some extent

Location was good not too far from Cascais town with some great walks. The room was big, had a fanatstic shower and a fabulous view of Guincho beach. A majority of the hotel is dated but gave it character. The reception ladies were very helpful, polite and informative. Sadly the pool and spa were closed until June (which I did not see on the website/whilst booking) We found the restaurant staff quite rude, abrupt, overall unprofessional apart from the waiter from Nepal (didnt get his name) he was very good at his job.

The location and sea view are stunning, but I can't recommend this place because it doesn’t deliver on what is advertised in the listing and what we paid for. The first room we were given did not have soundproof windows, heating or AC, Wi-Fi or internet, hairdryer or safe. After a noisy and cold first night, we complained and were given a second room which was a bit better but still with no internet. The windows in the new room were soundproof but the fan in the bathroom was very noisy and impossible to turn off even during the night, which meant that since the bathroom door latch was faulty, it was difficult to fall asleep with the noise. We also found the cleaning/housekeeping lacking: there was no toilet paper in the bathroom when we arrived back at the end of one of the days, the toiletries were just a couple of shampoo sachets (no shower gel, just a small square of hand soap), dirty pillowcases weren’t changed, shower drain was clogged and caused flooding... Will not stay again. Definitely not a 4 star experience.

Great potential but lacking warmth and welcome
Unfortunately we had a disappointing stay in this hotel- which has such great potential. On arrival it was complete chaos with no where to park- after going to reception we were shown the locked garage but there was no offer to help with baggage....the staff member just stood there. Check in was very quick with no warmth or welcome. Our room- had a lovely view but was very basic. It was in the wing that had been finished/ still under construction. There were wires hanging out of the wall and the room looked nothing like the pictures online with colour and art work and extra touches. This was a completely bare room. The shower had left over hair and sand from previous guests (but was cleaned and removed the second day and rectified). Breakfast buffet was very basic...Whenever we walked past reception no one spoke to us- in fact we did not see or were addressed by any staff our whole trip - apart from check out and check in. We felt a little uncomfortable and unwelcome. When asking for beach towels for the three of us- there was only one available?! So we had to share. After two nights we had decided to go in to Lisbon and double book another hotel as we just weren't happy here. Even when we checked out we were not asked if everything was ok and why were were leaving early. Also we were extremely disappointed the pool was green and locked....even though it was warm and the beach very busy. Our daughter was very disappointed. Great potential but lacking warmth and welcome.

We arrived in winter. Lovely experience right beside the ocean. You can hear the ocean waves throughout your stay. Building look solid from outside. Interior decor remained from the past. Will be nice to add a hairdryer in the bathroom. Additional heater for the kids room will be appreciated. Breakfast was fine especially with a view of the ocean!

When it is finished it will be fantastic!
We had a wonderful few days at the Muchaxo hotel but it could have been so much better if the hotel had actually been finished! It was built in 1964 & was used by the cast & crew of the Bond film "Her Majesty's Secret Service" & in it's hey day must have been fantastic but areas haven't been updated since! The hotel is in the process of being updated but that wasn't communicated to us before we arrived. We booked a family room for the 4 of us (2 adults & 2 children) but found 2 single beds pushed together, a single bed & a camp bed squeezed into a double room which was intended to only accommodate a couple not a family of 4! The room was so brand new it wasn't finished, no fridge in the cupboard for the mini bar, no extractor fan in the bathroom, no hooks to hang dressing gowns or beach towels on, no storage as the wardrobes hadn't been built yet, bare plaster above the mirror in the bathroom. As it was a double there were only towel rails for 2 towels not a family of 4. We had a sea view over the building site where a surf shop/school & beach bar were being constructed. We did complain but couldn't be moved so we put up with it & received a substantial amount off our room rate (nearly half) & a free meal in the restaurant. We loved the massive swimming pool even though the whole area could do with improving but it has character. The location on Guincho beach is superb & once the work is completed it will be great.

Other reviewers are all correct the hotel is dated and stays in the sixty’s mostly. It is run down and worn out but what a great location. You get what you pay for in this hotel.

So, the positives: the staff was outstanding and the location on the beach was excellent. With that said, the place needs a massive renovation to get it back to its former glory. They have undertaken serious renovations that were ongoing. Lots of potential if they completely rehab the place. Rooms were beat up but vere very clean. Again, it is the staff that makes this place. We were there for 2 nights and still enjoyed ourselves.

We loved this rustic property with its wooden interior and fireplaces. Fantastic location overlooking a beautiful surfing beach. We chose this hotel with a room overlooking the beach and were not disappointed. It was a large room with a king bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful in both the reception and restaurant. Unfortunately we could only stay one night, but even in winter it was amazing. I can understand why it is popular in summer.

Disappointing stay 4 star hotel?
The location, on a quite beach is why we booked this hotel. We had stayed close to this hotel / beach before so we thought we knew exactly what we would getting. Unfortunately there's building works out side on the beach side, a new shop and restaurant? The work stared at 07:00. Diggers, concrete pumps etc. All hotels need refurbishment at some point, but this information was not passed on. We would not have booked this hotel had we known. A few other items to note, the bath room was dirty due to age e.g. Shouter curtains mouldy, (not glass screen) plus shower head holder broken. Another problem is the card reader door locks do not close properly, the latch stay out so every time someone goes in and out of their room they have slam the door. You will hear this from all the rooms around the balcony any time of day and night. Lastly the pool was not open when we were staying around 1st May onwards.

Fantastic location and service
Trip to Lisbon was perfect thanks to this hotel. It is in Cascais outside of Lisbon. Hotel was directly on the water and the sound of the ocean every night and morning was amazing. Room was clean, nothing fancy but a great bed with a ocean view. Breakfast was decent (although the coffee machine was not the greatest). Staff was very kind and helpful. But word to the wise, it is a approximate 25km from the airport. I paid a taxi 90€ to the hotel but only paid 45€ on the return. So just be sure to get a quote if you go by taxi.

Okay but could be better
Stayed there one night, the room size was okay but some of the decor was dirty and not maintained. There were a few cob webs in the bathrooms as well as rust on the towel rack and taps. The mirror in the bathroom was also dirty. With a bit of care and love this hotel would drastically approve. On the flip side the bar area was the best part of the hotel. The WiFi in the rooms is terrible keeps disconnecting, it only worked in the bar.

Friendly people but room desperate for renovation from cracked tiles, loose sink taps, flaking paint, windows 'blown' so you couldn't see the amazing view and no wifi in he room even though it was advertised with. A real shame, could be amazing
