Good location and helpful staff

Posted Jul 3, 2014
This was our first visit to the Viceroy and would happily return. The location is one block away from the beach, about a couple of blocks to Third Street Promenade and similar distance to Main Street. On our first night we were in a double twin room which seemed to be one of the few options when we made the booking (possibly because the hotel was booked out on our first night) though I requested to be moved to a King room and the hotel made this change with no issues and even moved out luggage while we were out during the day which was just perfect. The hotel has good facilities which are in good condition. It is a beautiful place to be. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Faulty towers!

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Hotel looks nice from the outside. Unfortunately our stay was disappointing! Major problems with hotel plumbing. We stayed on second floor - and were unable to use our toilet because of recurrent sewage blockages. Apparently the sewage accumulates on the lower floors! After a full day of hotel engineers and plumbers drilling etc we moved rooms but for the price, you expect at least a functioning bathroom! Also the elevators were both broken, so you could either walk up 8 flights of stairs or wait for 10 mins to use the one service elevator! Not ideal. Hotel was expensive and not worth it!

Boutique hotel across street from beach

Posted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: Loved the fact that it was so close to everything: beach, restaurants, shops and tours.
Cons: A breakfast plan should be included with the room. Newer, firmer pillows are needed.
Location: Beach, restaurants, shops and tours, the Pier are all within a 10-15 minute walk. Great boardwalk that takes you to Venice Beach and beyond.
Well appointed, modern, tidy rooms. Higher floor rooms provide ocean view and insulate from street noise. Amazing poolside decor and ambiance, more adult than family oriented; quite shaded throughout the day. Staff is extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Beautiful outdoor dining, although a tad expensive. The beach is a block across the street; no beach chairs available. The Santa Monica Pier is a ten minute walk away with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Third Street Promenade with ample restaurants and shops is also within a 10-15 minute walk. Would definitely return!

Well situated by the coast

Posted Jun 6, 2014
Everything was good with the hotel with one exception. I did not find any notification that there would be building work going on while we were there. Although the pool area, gardens and outside eating area were very attractive we could not enjoy them due to the noise of pneumatic drills.

Very nice hotel with easy walk to the beach

Room was at end of hall next to service elevator that was a bit noisy so next time would request one or two rooms away from the service elevator.

The viceroy was a great hotel. It has a great vibe. It is a fun hotel but still laid back. The location was great and the staff were fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel.

Liked the hotel and location. However paid for the ocean view room. If high enough, you will get that, if below the 6th floor limited. One draw back is the noise. Windows open it sits over the main street and is very noisy while trying to enjoy the ocean breeze. Other than that I would stay again.

wrong sideof the street

Posted May 14, 2014
Location: On the wrong side of a busy road on a junction.
We had anticipated a quiet 3 nights at what sounded like the perfect boutique hotel. We arrived to find not only did it face onto the main road but it was being used for the press launch of a new car. Our partial ocean view room directly overlooked the entrance so we asked for a change but were told the car company had taken all the oceanside rooms. The clerk then said 402 was available and kindly showed it to me, he said it was slightly larger and we would not hear the traffic. We realised when we went to sleep that he had failed to mention it backed onto the service elevator which was in use all night and we also found the bed itself had no headboard. Thankfully we managed to get ourselves into The Oceana for the second and third night. The only good news was the check out clerk felt sorry for us and waived the parking fee! I have now learned to always look for an outside photograph of any hotel I book into.

On the main street but somehow feels very private.

Posted May 13, 2014
Pros: The staff is all very friendly.
Cons: The restaurant is really overpriced.
Location: Walking distance to the beach for cycling and exercising or just relaxing in the sun. Also walking distance from the Santa Monica shopping area.
We had a great stay at the Viceroy. It's a big hotel that maintains a very private feel.
