The staff made up for a disappointing cold room with broken toilet on arrival by finding another room. Some options were not available on the menu but we had an enjoyable evening and would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor space.

Lovely country pub. Good food. Friendly staff. Rooms clean and adequate. Comfy bed and hot shower. The floorboards seemed very uneven with two noticeable depressions. There were no staff available on checkout to report this to.

The pub had very recently changed hand and there were obviously teething troubles. Not a very varied menu in comparison to what was previously offered. Nice room but no breakfast available apart from a box of cereal in the room. When we came back to the venue at 10.30pm we had to.go in via fire door. Not very welcoming also left this morning via fire exit and not seeing a single member of staff. At £100 for room would not use again.

The room had a recent make over - Pros: Feature wall headboard, bedside lighting, bed, duvet, towels, toilet paper, secondry double glasing. Cons: Floor coverings, Lampshade missing from centre room light, Showerhead not fitting holder properly, bathroom mirror falls off wall if touched. Room for improvement!

Friendly staff, good variety of drinks in the pub, lovely beer garden for a nightcap. Room was great but clearly part way through a renovation. The room was obviously recently decorated but the bathroom was much older, although all clean and working. Didn’t stay for breakfast as we had to be away before 9am. Free parking on site about 10m from the stairs to the room.

The Pelican is a good, comfortable Inn. We stayed for three nights in September. The rooms were very clean and in good condition and there were no problems with me bringing the dog who was also welcome in the bar area. The food was good pub fare, the steaks look wonderful, and we ate here very night. A cooked breakfast was not on offer but cereals, tea, coffee and porridge were provided. The staff were very helpful and pleasant at all times. I would certainly stay again.

Welcome a bit coldish, but not rude. Room was very basic but clean. The television was hanging at an angle off the wall and irrespective did not work after about 29 mins of trying. There was no WIFI so I asked a member of staff if there was any and she said No and also “I don’t know anything about technology”. Breakfast did not start until 9am which meant we and others were waiting for it to open. When it did arrive my wife’s avocado and poached eggs arrived without the poached eggs ie avocado on toast. Full English was OK. Didn't bother complaining as we were tight for time. Downstairs had piles of furniture in areas - looked like they were getting ready for something - maybe a refurb ? In summary the staff were reasonably friendly but I would not stay here again.

Worth a visit - The Pelican Inn, Froxfield
The Pelican had only just re-opened under new management and Covid. It was clean and tidy, efforts were made to follow social distancing. There are plans to further invest in modernising the property but as we were the first guests after re-opening we were glad to be able to get away from home. The staff were all approachable and willing to share the local knowledge, food was good both at breakfast and the evening meals. Our room was comfortable and the weather for a change hot and sunny!
