Find a secluded spot on the beach for a picnic with a scenic backdrop of the ocean. Join the surfers out on the waves or go for a swim in the water.

Go sailing or canoeing in the placid freshwater of the Groot River Lagoon just near the beach. Fishermen gather to try fly-fishing in the lagoon and surf fishing on the beach where the freshwater meets the sea.

Inland wander through the spectacular terrain of the Tsitsikamma Park, which is a protected coastal reserve with imposing coastline views and mossy mountains. It has a temperate rainforest made up of real yellowwood, stinkwood and Outeniqua yellowwood. Appreciate the serenity here as you listen to birdcalls that take you away from city life.

Hike in the De Vasselot Nature Reserve or follow the 26-mile (42-kilometer) Otter Trail that parallels the shoreline and rises over cliffs between beaches and rivers. Many adventurers consider it among the most varied and picturesque trails in the country, completing it in around 5 days. Book huts in advance to stay overnight.
