Hello and thank you for taking your time to comment on the recent visit. I’m a little surprised that during your short stay you did not reach out to any of the staff or myself and share any of your concerns regarding your opinion of your cottage. I know I briefly met your wife when you arrived from rock house at 11am, unfortunately we did not know you needed an early check in, and our check-in does not start until 3 PM however as you recall we immediately provided you with a cottage to use so you could secure your belongings until your cottage was ready. We shared with all of our guests the news from the national water commission that they had a mainline repair a short distance from us on beach road, on the day that you arrived, and it would take between one and three days for them to complete those repairs. In the interim we supplemented the erratic water pressure with our own water system and pumps and tried to make our guests comfortable. Many times our guests have echoed my statements that Whistling Bird is not for everyone…it is Genuine Jamaica…and is rustic, authentic, and likened to staying at your uncles cabin in the woods, except it is on a spectacular beach, one of the top 10 in the world! I’m sorry your bill was not thoroughly enough explained to you. You did in fact stay in a promotional cottage and you received the promotional pricing….what you paid included your food and beverage tab, and including F&B, the accommodation, any service fees, etc., and was under the amount you called “…a joke….” In the future we will strive to do a better job explaining the charges.I hope you enjoyed the amenities of the property, the beauty of the beach and the gardens, the amazing staff and the vibe, plus the awesome food and personal service. Whistling Bird is not for everyone, nor do we pretend to be a big box, corporate environment. I agree, it’s a lot better than camping! We have cottages for up to six guests, and varying price points. I hope to see you return to this beautiful island soon, and wherever you choose to stay, many thanks for your support! IRIE

I appreciate that you understand some of the challenges of an emerging country such as low water pressure, which is something experienced in just about every island country from time to time. I’m happy to know that you enjoyed the beauty of the property and the fact that we are right in the middle of 7 mile beach with all of its activity including as you noted every Thursday and every Saturday the nearby Jungle nightclub which is a popular party spot! Jamaica being a music oriented culture as you said, music can play into the wee hours! And the fact that you recognized how gorgeous, private, safe and well maintained Whistling Bird is, I’m certain you can imagine the extra expense in providing the Genuine Jamaican experience you enjoyed. Comparing it to other properties is like comparing apples and oranges. Many thanks for your support and we hope to see you return on a future trip!
