disappointingPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: good location - friendly staff - am sure they had much better rooms than we had…….
Location: close to shopping, Central Park was not far - cabs were easy to get to go anywhere in the city
We did find the staff at the Benjamin friendly - however, the room was not what I had requested - the temperature in the room could not be changed (way too hot) - tiny, tiny bathroom - could hardly move around - coffee maker did not work - the restaurant was a "tale of two experiences" breakfast was a total disappointment - omelet was cold, coffee was bitter & not drinkable - wait staff very disinterested and inattentive - dinner was polar opposite - great wait staff - food was good and atmosphere was lively!

Noisy and small hotelPosted Feb 18, 2014
Room was small and noisy ; minibar fridge sounded like a truck accelerating. Noise from heating and other rooms. 5 star and not even free mineral water or razor...

Great location in NYCPosted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: Location and room size
Cons: The organization in the bathroom-it was enormous with a very small sink area-I would recommend double sinks as a standard feature.
Location: Tour the city on foot- walk to St. Patrick's cathedral, Rockefeller center, grand central train station, shopping on sax 5th ave, Central Park
The hotel was within walking distance to Grand Central Station and St. Patrick's Cathedral-really to many sites in NYC. The room was comfortable-we were "upgraded" to a suite with a living space (which we didn't need but accepted anyway) because the room we booked was not available. The staff was courteous and the hotel allowed us to store our bags after checkout which was very helpful. The bed was comfortable but did not have a top sheet on it which by the time this was discovered it was too late and we were too tired to make a fuss about it but we found that a strange way to make a bed. Our friends with whom we met up commented on how large the room was for a hotel room in the city-not being frequent city goers we were none the wiser but we enjoyed the space and the location immensely and would return.

A true bargain for a jewel of a hotelPosted Feb 12, 2014
Pros: Lovely suite with a terrace. Kitchenette with frig, microwave and sink.
Cons: Ceiling in bedroom was peeling.
Location: Ess a Bagel for breakfast is a must. Four Seasons for dinner. Walk to theaters and MOMA.
Terrific staff always acknowledging you wherever you are in the hotel. Twice daily room refreshening. Lovely suites with terraces. A perfect location near our favorite restaurants. Nothing too far to walk to, even the theater district.

Decent Hotel, some disappointing elementsPosted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: Good restaurant downstairs, nice rooms
Cons: free wifi
Location: Bliss spa is right next door which is ideal!
My room was unreasonably hot, despite my battle with the thermostat. My window was also stuck open...so city traffic was loud in the morning. I hate hotels that dont have free Wifi.... guests should not have to pay additionally for internet.

Decent hotel in midtownPosted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: The location in midtown is fantastic, clean and large rooms.
Cons: There was a marked difference in the knowledge of concierges that worked there about the city.
Location: Ideal location for shopping and Central Park, proximity to subway makes lower east side ideal as well.
The hotel is in good condition, a number of reviews had mentioned issues with the speed of the elevators (no issue at all) and the cleanliness of rooms (amazed that this comment was made, immaculate rooms). One thing we noted was that there was a substantial difference between rooms in the same category on different floors. We requested a higher floor due to street noise and found the higher room to be superior in terms of newer appliances and design. Street noise is significant on the lower floors and we would recommend asking for a higher floor for this reason. There also appeared to be a fire station within a block - any time a truck leaves you will hear the sirens, doesn't matter what floor you are on! The proximity to the subway is fantastic, 6 line is on the same block. There is also a further station at 53rd and Lexington which can be reached underground (very valuable in the winter!). Overall I would recommend the hotel, but next time would most likely try a different but similar hotel.

Nice stay in NYCPosted Jan 20, 2014
Comfortable spacious room. A bit hot and a noisy air conditioner. Not a good combo. Also a bit weird in terms of bathroom layout/fixtures. Not well thought out. Quite poor cell coverage. That with non complimentary internet service made it a bit of a pain to stay connected. Otherwise very nice place. Convenient location if you need to be in midtown. A bit noisy but that's not in their control.
