Alittle dispointed
Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: Old
Cons: Free Wi-Fi, Complementry parking for guests, Free coffee.
Location: Just a block away from downtown Wikiki.
This is a perfect example of "You get what you pay for". Yes, I will take full responsibility for trying to find a bargen. $16 a night for parking with no other alternitive. No Wi-Fi with out being charged. The hotel houses permanent residents and guests. The hotel is old with what seems to be the same since it opened. the only obvious update was the Flat screen TV. This is a great place to keep your luggage and sleep but you could do this at a Comfort Inn and not pay so much and you would have had free parking. Coffee for the coffee pot was free but only the first bag if you wanted more it would be an extra charge too. Again the little things could have made a huge diffrence for me.

Ok budget hotel.

Pros: Price.
Cons: Rooms need updating.
Location: Walking distance to wakiki beach.
The rooms are small and the air conditioner was loud. Considering it was half price of what other major hotels in the area were asking it was worth it.

The staff were very helpful.Local buses, restaurants, beaches, church, international market place all within walking distance from the hotel. We took the local bus on 2 occasions. From this hotel you can you can travel all over Honolulu because Robert Hawaii and Hop Off Hop On and other tourist buses all have their stops to pick you up to see the whole city of Honolulu - their picking up passengers stop is 2 mins away from Hawaiian Hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. The hotel room has a hair dryer, tv, microwave, coffee maker, electric iron and iron table, good view of the city, good comfortable beds, telephone, security, just what we needed. I understand they have units where people live and commute to work from the hotel. I would recommend it to anyone.

Low on Style but Great Value
Posted Jan 2, 2013
Pros: Price & Convenience
Cons: The old furnishings might be a turnoff for some
Location: easy walk to beach/shopping & easy bus/cab to airport
I needed a good priced hotel for a night in Waikiki after coming off the plane. The Monarch isn't new by any stretch, and a bit dogeared in appearance, but the room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel's location was super convenient for a leisurely morning around town before heading on to our next location. Beds were surprisingly comfy for the overall age of the furnishings. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Good location, less than stellar accomodations
Posted Jan 26, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Room comfort and quality
Location: Walking distance to all the Waikiki attractions, which was very nice
This hotel was lower quality than expected, but good value for the money given its location.

Beware of bedbug
Posted Jan 19, 2013
You get what you pay for. This hotel located close to waikiki in walking distance and affordable place. I am not expect anything special. I stayed there for 5 nights and the second day I was bited by something like bedbug ( i dont see any bedbug in my room) but from the wound is look like i was bited by bedbug. I told a lady at lobby that I wanted to get a new room. And she told me that she will sent a house keeper to reservh my room. House keeper went into my room for a couple mins and said there no bedbug here. So, i cant move to a new room. I have to stay in that room the rest of my trip with nightmare;( Besides that the bed is very old and carpet is wornout. I never go back there again even it cheaper than this.

Great location, but not the Hilton

It's a budget hotel that's seen better years. If you're not going to spend much time in your room and you just need a cheap place to sleep, this may be for you.
