Best value among hotels in Waikiki

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: 1. The rooms are spacious and clean. 2. Close to the beach. 2. The staff are super friendly. 3. Free parking!
Cons: I wish they would replace the shutter-style glass windows with something a bit quieter, that would keep out the general Waikiki street noise.
Location: Waikiki beach is two short blocks away. Enterprise Rent-a-Car is right across the street, super convenient.
The Ilima hotel is, by far, the best value in Waikiki. It offers the best combination of clean and spacious rooms, close proximity to the beach and very friendly, helpful staff. This was our 3rd stay at the Ilima, and we've been very happy with our stay every time.

Good for families

Enjoyed our 5 night stay. The hotel is dated, but we didn't mind because it was clean and comfortable and provided what we needed. We appreciated the full kitchen (complete with dishwashing liquid!) and ample living space for our family of 4. We managed to avoid paying the high prices for dinner in Waikiki this way. A nice added treat was the complimentary lei making class at the end of our stay. Praying for all those in Hawaii who may be affected during hurricanes Iselle and Julio. Stay safe.

Great Location

Spent 4 days here in a 2 bedroom - everything was within walking distance. The beach, shopping and plenty of places to eat was close. The staff was very helpful. The only draw back - a very small pool. But we didn't go for the pool so it didn't really matter to us. Really enjoyed!!! Also - great balconies to sit and have coffee - early in the morning.

Good position in Waikiki

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: The price and situation was great
Cons: It was somewhat ageing but well maintained
Whilst this wasn't on the beach.. it was only a block from eateries, coffee, markets, food pantry, buses and only another short block to the famous beach. The full kitchen would be great for anyone contemplating a long term stay

Handy location to everything, lovely staff, very clean, good size rooms, only downside is how dated the rooms are. In saying that though they are very tidy and comfortable.

Pros: The large size of the suites
Cons: Could use an extra comfortable chair plus a small coffee table in the suite.
Location: Within a five minute walk of all the places that tourists want to go to. The street is very quiet for Waikiki.
We have stayed at this small hotel many times and never found a reason for complaint. Its in a nice quiet area of Waikiki yet close to the center of the action. However you do need to have a suite on a higher floor for any view. We first stayed here in 1980 and the ambiance is still the same. Always our first choice in Waikiki, but you do need to book well in advance, its always full.
