Central Loacation

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Breakfest was free, staff was friendly, soft bed & great location. Plus each late evening we sit in the lobby enjoying free coffee and waffles:-)
Cons: The room is not air conditioned (did not need it) a small fan for circulation would have been nice & a "loaner" electrical adaptor would also be nice
Location: Location was great and within walking distance to most "tourist" sites. The Public Transit Pass permitted us to get around all of Oslo.
The Rica Travel Hotel was fine, albeit the room was a little small. It was clean and the staff was knowledgable of the surrounding area. Most of the shops and interesting sites were within walking distance. On Saturday night the Pub next door rocked till the wee hours was the only down side, but I do not know what the Hotel can do about the neighbors? We did purchase the Public Transit Pass which gave us 72 hours of free transport on the buses, subways, and trallys so we were able to have access across the city with no problems. We found that most Locals knew a little English so communications was no issue, plus everyone we stopped to ask questions were very friendly and seemed to want to help us navigate the transportatiion system.

Convenient location - not far from Central Station

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: The staff were excellent...
Location: very close to Karl Johans Gate (Oslo's 'main street'). Walking distance to Hard Rock Cafe, if you're into that.
my only criticism is, the room was pretty small. I literally sat on the bed to work at the small desk. However that's a minor issue. The bed was warm and comfortable, the food was certainly adequate. The staff were VERY helpful. I would probably stay here again if the price was right

Excellent location, value for money

As I was travelling on my own, I found the Rica Travel Hotel ticked all the boxes. Great location in the centre of Oslo, easy walking distance to all the tourist attractions, 10 minutes walk to Central Station and restaurants and shops were literally around the corner. Breakfast was fantastic, coffee and tea was served all day and free waffles every afternoon at 5 in the dining room. My single room was quite small but was clean and very comfortable. My only disappointment was that the window didn't open more than a few centimeters and there was no view. A good hotel for the budget conscious.

Great location, great services and the right price

Posted May 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
My room was tiny but had all the comforts and was quite adequate for a single person. What I liked best was the friendliness of the staff who treated me more like a friend than a customer. They serve an international breakfast from French continental to German meats and cheeses, to American cornflakes. As much as I liked the breakfast I even more appreciated the afternoon self-made waffles with a cup of tea and coffee. Oslo is a city that is easy to get around by bike. Not only does one get a room with breakfast and afternoon snack but the free use of a bike. What more could one ask for_

Good value for nice hotel

Posted May 27, 2014
We enjoyed our stay here. The room is pretty small, but it's not really an issue if you don't plan on spending much time there. The free breakfast was excellent, and they also have free wifi. It was in the central hub of downtown Oslo. It is right next door to a bar, so at night, if you sleep with the window open, which we needed to because it was hot in the room, you hear all the noise outside, but overall it was a good experience at a nice hotel for the price.

Great location and breakfast

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: Location Friendly Staff Breakfast Free bikes
Cons: The room was somewhat small. I didn't mind that at all personally, but it is something that you should be aware of when booking.
Location: Great location. Most of the main Oslo attractions within walking distance.
This hotel looked like a somewhat bland, unoriginal place from the exterior photos, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is absolutely amazing. We easily walked with our luggage from the train station in under 10 minutes and we walked to most of the major attractions in Oslo. The breakfast was excellent, easily the best breakfast spread that I've ever seen at any hotel.
