Aloha and Welcome to Moana Imaku! Come and enjoy your Hawaiian getaway in a lovely, spacious, light filled home all your own. In creating this vacation home it was important for the owner to build a place that could be enjoyed by all, including the differently abled. This home is wheel chair accessible from the entry ramp to the wide doorways and easy-access walk-in showers in both bathrooms. There are lots of extra features for those with special needs. Everyone in your group will love the ocean view lanai a block from the ocean... and you may meet the neighborhood hen, Henrietta, who often leaves a freshly laid egg for guests on a chair cushion!

When you enter this hale you will notice the lovely tropical furnishings and décor, shiny African mahogany floors, large fully equipped gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances, and dining area. Not to mention the newly furnished and comfortable lanai with 2 loveseats, 2 chairs and a dining table that sits 4. The spacious living room includes a Smart TV and plenty of seating area.

The bedrooms consist of a four poster queen size bed in the master bedroom with its own master bathroom. First guest room has two single beds and second guest room has one queen size bed. Guest bathroom is conveniently located between both bedrooms.
Moana Imaku also features indoor laundry room with front load washer & dryer, and a 400 square foot lanai where you can enjoy outdoor dining and take in your ocean views.
This hale is located on the beautiful Puna coast a block from the ocean and the beautiful ocean park, bringing you our island sunshine and trade breezes on the sunrise side of the island.
We hope that when you come to Moana Imaku that you will find the tranquility and harmony of these beautiful islands. NOTE: there is no beach access in the neighborhood as the ocean cliffs are more than 20 feet high - breathtaking for photographers and other nature lovers!

Sunrise in hawaii
We had a wonderful stay at Moana Imaku. Everything was as advertised but the furniture on the lanai is getting a bit weathered. That being said we did spend most of our time out on that lanai staring at the ocean and enjoying the sounds of the neighborhood. I was up early every morning to see a beautiful sunrise over the ocean. The location was great, from there we drove around the island. The kitchen is extremely well set up and made cooking from home easy. Would definitely go again.

Beautiful, better than we expected!
When we arrived it was pitch dark. The house was very nice, clean and better than what we expected. We could hear the ocean waves but could not see anything. The next morning, we were awestruck with the beautiful view of the ocean virtually right outside our door. You can not imagine how us desert rats from Arizona felt!! It’s been an amazing experience and we wish we had MORE TIME! Hopefully we will be able to come back!

A bit remote but great
Services are not close if you need them, stores etc... local TV service at this house is limited if you need that, must have a car if you choose this location. For us it was perfect, didn't need the fancy things some folks need, wife and I had a great experience, and talk story with the neighbors,I could live there, we'll be back.

The location is perfect if you want a quiet, peaceful vacation. Shopping and restaurants are a 15 minute drive. The Lanai was a gem!!! I appreciated all of the amenities for handicapped visitor, with easy access to the house (ramp) and the shower.

Slice of paradise
We stayed in Moana Imaku for a week and loved it. The house is really nice, the neighborhood is safe and quite and the ocean is just a two minute walk. We were there in July so we were concerned about not having AC. However, there are ceiling fans in all the rooms and the location cooled down enough that we had no problems sleeping. We did make it a point to be out of the house in the afternoons as it was quite warm.

Paradise in hawaii
A most perfect stay at this beautiful house in Hawaii. We had a party of 5 and fit very well in this house. We loved the location, being so close to the ocean and felt very welcomed by the neighbors. We felt like we lived on the lanai, it’s perfect! Breakfasts and dinners were spent out there most nights shared with lots of laughter and stories. The coqui frogs put us to sleep every night, we miss them already! They had lots of additional items we could use for the beach that we loved and all the amenities were great. Would absolutely book this place again and hope to return in the future!

Real Hawaii experience
Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moana Imaku. The house is located on the edge of a real neighborhood. Quiet and across the street from a neighborhood park. The complete opposite of a typical Hawaii condo development. The lanai is probably where we spent the most time, eating and relaxing. Restaurants and a grocery store are probably a 20-minute drive away. The slightly funky, small town of Pahoa is also close. The property manager was great. really responsive and friendly.

Perfect Family Home
This was a perfect spot for our 4 generations of family ! My 80 yr old father, 30 yr old daughter and kids (12,8 and 6) all felt safe, comfortable and had plenty of room for all of us to enjoy. Loved walking across the road to the park ~ the rental had great beach chairs in all sizes for us to carry across the road where we would sit on the grass and enjoy the amazing ocean view!!

Brought brother in law & sister in law back to where they were married 43 years ago and to their first house at the Naval Base They thought they’re never get to come back ❤️ they were married at the church on the base camp it’s still there but decommissioned The house was amazing and worked out great thank you

Great House with a Beautiful View
We stayed here for six nights in December 2022 and it was a great house. The location is very quiet and peaceful, and the water view (not beach but beautiful volcanic rocks) is a short block away. You can see the ocean from the lanai. The house was very well outfitted, with plenty of cooking supplies and utensils. They had a nice stock of shampoos, body wash, etc as well. While it was a lot of driving to get to everything we wanted to see, that's just the nature of the Big Island. We would definitely stay here again. Oh, and Henrietta left us a couple nice gifts on our final morning!

Awesome Lanai with beautiful ocean views
The residence is in excellent condition, stocked with all the goods needed to cook for your family including pots, pans, serving bowls, kitchen utensils, spices, cooking oil and a filtered water container in the fridge. They also have ice chest, beach chairs, towels, bug spray, sunscreen, games and cable tv. Just about everything you could need for staying I. Or exploring the island. Location is great, just takes about 45 minutes to get to Hilo for beaches and shopping centers. My favorite feature of the property was the lanai, seeing and hearing the ocean right in front of us in a large gathering spot while playing cards with the family over great conversations made for the perfect ending to each day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

My wife and I loved this property! I have work on the Big Island that requires me to visit 2-3 times per year, and so we have stayed at many properties over the years. This is one of our favorites. The location is terrific, just across from the ocean with magnificent views from the lanai. The house is spotless and appears to be geared toward and built as an "accessible" home. By this I mean that in addition to steps up onto front porch, there is a ramp along the side of the house that makes it VERY easy to get luggage up an in. Also there are handrails in every shower and wide doorways. As my wife and I are easing into our 60s, this was an added bonus and made for a comfortable stay. The beds were exceptional as well. The only issue we had was with the internet becoming intermittent in the evening hours for some reason. The manager though, was right on the problem and I don't believe it will be a further matter going forward. And we do hope and expect to stay here again! This is a fantastic property.

Great neighborhood, one glaring problem
Pros: Loved the house, loved the neighborhood. The house was very secure with a security system, exterior video cameras and exterior motion detection lighting. The outside porch area was awesome. Lots of seating and really added to the Hawaiian experience. There is a really great park next to the property and walking the neighborhood was very enjoyable. Very close to the ocean for fantastic picture taking. Cons: HEAT!! This house heated up so much during the day is was nearly unbearable. The wind blew very little while we stayed and it usually took until early hours of the morning for the house to cool down. This house has no AC, a black roof and only 2 roof vents both right together on one side of the roof. If it wasn’t for the outside porch area we may not have been able to stay. There are however interior ceiling fans all over the house and in all the bedrooms, even a couple of portable fans. But unless the outside winds can clear the house of the heat through open windows all you are doing is swirling around hot air. It’s our understanding that electricity rates in Hawaii are the highest in all 50 states and I’m certain that plays a part in the decision not to install AC. But the interior heat of this house was a problem literally every day except one when the wind blew pretty hard and the house cooled a little quicker. Also my wife says there’s a lack of cutting boards (only one small one available), and a lack a large mixing/serving bowls. Conclusion: We we’re split 50/50 in whether or not we would rent this house again. The master bedroom did cool quicker than the other 2 bedrooms and that seems to be where the split in vote comes from. We all loved everything else about the house and it’s location.

We enjoyed our stay at this rental! Fully stocked with everything that you would need. We will definitely stay here again! The only thing that could make this place better is AC. Although the house cooled down pretty quickly, once the windows were open. Thank you and we will be back!
