“morristown near the green”

Nice, open hotel foyer leading to an open bar area. Rooms were comfortible, with a new modern feel. Our's had two double beds that felt more like large twins vs. doubles - they seemed undersized, but bedding and pillows were very nice. Convenient location with free self parking option. Only disappointment is that our internet was not included on an above average priced room.

“Great place to stay. Outstanding location. Great rooms!!!!”

The Hyatt in Morristown is very centrally located and has a great selection of restaurants and bars to go to, if that is your thing. They have very clean, comforatble rooms and the staff is nice. The restaurant inside the hotel is good too. Really great place!!!

“In the heart of Morristown”

I've lived in the area before and never failed to notice this humongous building located right in the center of its mecca. The Hyatt was not only a beautiful and large hotel but the area was a lot of fun too. It had amazing bars and restaurants and a theater connected right to the hotel plaza. The only downside was that the wifi wasn't complimentary and they charge me for making a phone call, to their own restaurant (that didn't pick up anyway -.-), Also, they put a hold of $100 on my credit card, which has not been done to me often and I was very uncomfortable with that.

“Convenient way to do NYC, plus, Morristown is pleasant to walk around in.”

For a convenient, less expensive way to do New York City, the Hyatt in Morristown offers the town of Morristown (pleasantly walkable, shops, restaurants, dept. store, movie theater, all minutes walking from hotel) and the train station (10 minute, easy walk from hotel) to NYC. (Secaucus, NJ also offers this option to NYC via bus, but the town of Morristown itself is nice, plus very easy access from the I-80/I-287 freeways.) The Hyatt offers a full-sized fitness club next door-- unusual for hotels, which usually only offer a small workout room with a few machines. This fitness club is an actual full-sized fitness club that happens to allow hotel occupants free full access. You do have to pay extra for Internet access in your room and they don't serve a free breakfast, two things you do get at other hotels; however, you can opt to pay extra per day to include Internet and a very nice, extensive breakfast buffet, plus a rather large-sized bottle of water in your room. The staff seemed very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Based on my experience of having stayed there, I would stay there again. My only nit-pick about this place is that I would incorporate free Internet and Continental breakfast, and eliminate those expensive bottles of water in the room with the price tag attached. Those pay-for-it-if-you-drink-it water bottles are a little too "extra-fee"ish and we get enough of that with airlines.

Area recommendations

Once I checked into the hotel, I left my car in the garage and explored the town on foot, then took the train another day into New York City. I've read that the surrounding area of NJ has interesting/historical sites (accessible by car) but I didn't explore any of them on this trip. The train takes you into Penn Station, which is convenient for seeing a Broadway play, or really, anything in NYC. The town square of Morristown is nice for casual browsing and some shopping, plus, there are many interesting restaurants---a large variety of them to choose from.

Dining

Many taverns with good menus. There is an Afghani restaurant, for something different. Many sushi places, vegetarian restaurants; in fact, the restaurants make Morristown look like a college town, but I'm not aware of there being a college there. Or you can take the train into NYC and Penn Station is 2 blocks from "Koreatown" if you like Korean food, or else the full option of all restaurants in NYC.

Morristown, NJ was the hotel's location and it was close to the Metro for trips into NYC, and Bernardsville where we attended the wedding.

“Will return only as last resort”

Hotel elevator (from parking lot to lobby was broken. Only one elevator. No alternative arrangements. Totally unacceptable. Upon departing, the gate from parking lot would not raise. I had to roust hotel staff who then operated the gate manually. Frustrating. Irritating. Infuriorating.

“Hyatt Morristown”

Hotel was fine but we booked it because it had a pool (travelling with 10 year old daughter). The pool was not conveniently located; it was a lap pool & she wouldn't use it. This was disappointing. Also, we needed to check out a day early- with notice to the hotel - but they would not refund the extra day.

The staff remembered us from our last visit!! Which is always nice!!! Great area!! Great restaurants and shopping!!! Hotel is lovely!! Very clean. Sometimes a little noisy due to the events they cater to!! All in all a nice place to stay!

“A good place to stay in Morristown”

We were very pleased with the Hyatt Morristown. From the outside, it is a bit of a 1970s concrete monstrosity. But it has been nicely renovated on the inside. The room was spacious and the beds were comfy. The hotel has a fantastic buffet breakfast. My only complaint is that the front office gave us faulty information about train service to NYC. Otherwise, a very good stay.
