“Only OK”

Stayed a night at the hotel over the weekend. It was just okay. Kind of expected a little more for the price. But for a short stay, the room was clean, food okay, staff was friendly.Just dont expect a luxury hotel.

“I wouldn't stay here again!!”

We booked this hotel because it was close to Ulster where we were attending a haunted hayride. I picked it because it was not cheap, so I assumed that the quality would be acceptable. Little did I know that the hotel was in the middle of a rundown city. When we arrived, the system was down and we had to wait to check in. There was also a wedding going on during our stay and the wedding guests were drunk and obnoxious at night, screaming, fighting and trying to get into our room. They also threw cigarette butts on the floor. We did call the front desk and security came up but the nonsense carried on anyway. As far as the room, it appeared clean, but it was a smoking room and smelled funny and the blankets had cigarette holes in them. In this case, we did not get what we paid for.

“Surprisingly decent”

I was a bit doubtful upon driving up, but once inside the hotel I found it to be clean, pleasant and friendly. I was slightly disappointed that they don't have a treadmill or any exercise equipment at all, but for a conference it was very good. The temperature of the meeting room and my own overnight room were consistently comfortable without being noisy. The food was surprisingly good. My room was spacious and very clean, and very quiet. I would recommend it. You can see the Walkway Over the Hudson from the windows! Nice views!

Area recommendations
The downtown area looks a little seedy but there were some very nice restaurants within walking distance, and many college students out having fun.
Family-friendly activities
The Walkway Over the Hudson is a remarkable free activity. Its a former railroad bridge converted into a walking trail, with spectacular views of the Hudson River and valley.

“If Poughkeepsie beckons...”

I had a meeting in Poughkeepsie and this was the site. The hotel staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They made excellent dinner recommendations, provided immediate van service to the train station and were cheerful at all times. The room was a little old fashioned but everything worked, it was clean and the bed was firm and comfortable. The alarm clock, while old, also worked and was easy to set up. There were many cable TV options. How many hotels still include a FULL breakfast in the price? That's right, none! The neighborhood is dicey, particularly after dark, but that's not the hotel's fault. One quibble: no health club.

“Great downtown hotel”

This hotel is conveniently located in downtown Poughkeepsie, adjacent to the arena and a parking garage - guests at hotel get free parking. Many restaurants are within walking distance. Recently renovated, the hotel lobby is impressive with a good bar and attentive, capable bartenders and the rooms are nicely appointed.

“One step above average”

The hotel was pretty and the attendents at the front desk were very helpful and kind. The room was an average nicer scale room; which was clean and spacious. Also, the walls were nearly soundproof and our view from the 10th floor was awesome!
