Good location
Great location near Corso, train, ferry, museum. Helpful friendly staff. Ad said ocean view but many rooms do not have one. My single room was small but fine.

I found the hotel to be excellent
the hotel was very central the staff were really friendly and helpful and overall very pleasant stay their breakfast was one of the best in all europe

Hotel in a good location.wifi is free.conferences here so gets busy during week.lobby is nice with bar paintings & comfortable seats.lift is old & slow.buffet breakfast breakfast is continental (but no hot items).5th floor is restaurant for lunch & dinner with great views of Messina Straits.Food is good quality & there is a good wine list.Rooms & bathrooms are very old style-needs updating.(aircon/tv/desk/minibar)hotel provides airport transfer which is better than local taxis.staff are generally friendly & helpful.when Palace hotel is closed or not enough guests, guests are accomodatedi in Grand Hotel Excelsior.

Hotel closed for renovations
This hotel was closed for renovations.  We were not notified by Hotels.com nor Hotel Palace Masonari and found out at4pm by decipering the sign(in Italian) left on the door to go to another hotel, Hotel Grande Excelsior, across the street.

Exceptional
There was 10 adults staying at this hotel and had the best service, we would recommend and you won't be disappointed. It's a three star but we would give it a 4 stars.

Ottima posizione. Letto scomodissimo con rete anteguerra. È stata adeguata una camera singola con un letto matrimoniale, quindi un solo comodino. Bagno senza finestra e non areato. Pulizia camera sufficiente, bagno scarsa

Very close to train/tram/bus stations and old tow
Newly decorated room with balcony and refrigerator. The toilet is spacious. The rooms are on 1st floor without lift. It's quite hard to find the check in location (no street name and number) which is different from the rooms.

Buona accoglienza, ma il rumore della strada non consentiva tenere finestra aperta: solo aria condizionata x evitare il caldo! Colazione minima, anche se il bar ci ha offerto una briosche in più! Poche info turistiche.

Ottima posizione vicini al museo e al lungomare. Stanza pulita con aria condizionata e comando elettrico della tapparella. Stanza buia di sera per scarsa illuminazione, tv piccola in pratica grande quanto un tablet e tendina doccia praticamente inutile visto che ad ogni doccia si allaga il bagno

State alla larga !!
Hotel assolutamente sconsigliato !!! Sembra cada a pezzi....Arredi vecchi, pavimenti con moquette sporca, bagno in camera trovato in condizioni pietose con il lavabo pieno di peli e il wc sporco. E per finire per avere una botyiglietta d acqua sono dovuto andare in pigiama direttamente alla reception.State alla larga !!

bra hotell. eneste problemet var at mange av de som jobbet i resepsjonen snakket lite engelsk og at da de justerte air conditionen ble det et kondensproblem slik at det begynte å dryppe vanndråper fra en planke med et lite hull i i taket. og ned på gulvet i gangen.. men det skulle blie fikset på. (først var aircondotionen stilte på for høy temp sentralt, så rommet ble ordentlig avkjølt først etter ca en dag.)
