Nice hotel in a quiet section of town

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: location, staff, cleanliness
Cons: the bed was as hard as a rock
Nice hotel, decorated in a modern style. Very clean. Love the location. After being shoved around Rome most of the day, was nice to come back to a quite location. Good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. 15 - 20 minute walk to the Vatican, and other sites. The room was a normal European sized room, nice bathroom. The bed, however, was rock hard - was like sleeping on the box spring. The staff was great, very courteous providing whatever help we needed. Unless you need to be very close to the action, I'd highly recommend this hotel

Hotel Metropolis is 4-Star

Posted Sep 24, 2014
Pros: Clean modern rooms and an excellent full breakfast.
Cons: The room doesn't have a chest of drawers -- only a closet to hang clothes. The concierge touts the bad Green Line Hop-On-Hop Off tourist bus.
Location: The location is fine -- about a 10-minute walk to the Vatican, about 15-minutes to the restaurants in Pizza Navona.
The Hotel Metropolis is new, modern, and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent. The location is fine -- about a 10-minute walk to the Vatican, about 15-minutes to the restaurants in Pizza Navona. However, the best place to eat is a small restaurant a block-ans-a-half away at 55 Viale Giulio Cesare.

Great hotel but avoid rooms on 4th floor

Posted Sep 21, 2014
Cons: Nothing. My observations about the room are only relevant because we were on 4th floor. Another room with a regular window would have been fine.
Location: 20 min walk to Vatican City.5 minute walk from Lepanto metro.Using the Leonardo Express door to door took about an hour from Fium. Not many restaurants
ROOM: The good - it was clean and had sufficient space for two on a short break. The not so good - Was on 4th floor and only had one sky light and the en suite had no windows (not unusual) however with a very dark brown tiled colour scheme. My travel companion, was partially sighted and really struggled with basic things like getting dressed and also putting on her make-up because it was so dark in the room. I was fine because on holiday I adopt a relaxed appearance but I even I struggled with putting in my contact lenses and when I dropped and earring on the floor I thought it was lost for good! For holiday as you aren't there for long this wouldn't be a problem but if I was there for work and so would need to care about my appearance and also need to work in my room, this would have been a real problem. Also, they had one lift which was also used as the service lift so you could wait for a while. STAFF and SERVICE: Fantastic. Like a boutique hotel but on a small scale. Room was clean and had sufficient basic toiletries if you are flying on a budget airline. The staff were all friendly, helpful and coped with my very poor Italian. Breakfast was excellent and we had a quick lunch there before our return to the airport and that was also very good.

Close to Vatican and very close to Subway station

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Good location as mentioned only criticism is room cleaning - they tended to leave it late in the day to do the rooms so you were arriving back for a rest and they were just starting the room, told them not to bother on 2 days

5 Days in Romr

Posted Sep 17, 2014
Really great hotel in safe location. We had a back room so heard very little noise. Not like being in a big city at all. Room was not over large but adequate for our stay. Lepanto metro close by too. Buses outside. Breakfast first class and staff very friendly and helpful. Would certainly return.

Nice hotel, off the main tourist drag.

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: I liked the tranquility - it felt like we were the only people staying there as we never heard any noises at night, which is most unusual.
Cons: The restaurant could be improved both the service and the quality of food
Location: You could walk to the Vatican within 20 minutes or so and there were a couple of good restaurants nearby used by the locals and excellent value
Booked a superior room for 4 nights and was allocated room 303 - try to avoid as it is has leaking air-con system which resulted in a horrible smell! I spoke to reception and whilst they were not able to move us on the first night, we were moved to an "executive room" the next day - not sure what the difference is other than that the executive room had a separate area with a dining table and four chairs. The room itself was clean, comfortable and the air con was brilliant but we found the lighting poor - not good for putting make up on! The only gripe I would have about the hotel is the restaurant - I ate there on my first night as I was on my own (my friend was arriving the next day) and found it a very poor experience. I was all but ignored by the staff, I suppose I should count myself lucky that I was given a bottle of water - forget about being asked if I wanted any wine with my meal! As for the meal itself I have to say it was the worst pasta carbonara I have ever had as it was swimming in olive oil -there was so much you could mop it up with bread! The breakfast is adequate with a reasonable selection but once again service is poor - you have to grab a waiter if you want anything other than filter coffee to drink and I have never stayed in a hotel where the juice on offer is squash rather than the real thing!

good location, very clean

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Pros: nice and central clean
Cons: to have tea and coffee in rooms
Location: near to shops and metro train station
hotel staff seemed very friendly and helpful, apart from a mix up with rooms on arrival due to Expedia explained the lady on reception but she did sort it out for us, having to go down some stairs with breakfast in hand was very awkward, rooms very clean but left a pair of jeans behind and these were never found, could do with tea and coffee facilities in room, hotel close to metro, lapant station, would use this hotel again thank you

Comfortable hotel, very clean and tidy.

The hotel was less than a 5 minute walk away from a Metro station, was also in walking distance of the vatican which was ideal. Only let down was the surroudings not many stores or restaurants near by.
