This little boutique hotel (4 bedrooms) is a treasure. The hosts were courteous and accommodating. Located just a block away from the main shopping area in Salerno (Corso Italiano), and two blocks from the promenade, it's an easy 10 minute walk from the main train station.
The hotel itself is very bright, clean and modern. Our room was spotless and the bathroom, tiled floor to ceiling in white modern tile, had a great rainforest shower. The surprise in there was the (optional) 70's disco lighting. Fun and novel.
We opted for what one of the brothers called a "salty" breakfast and were presented with cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit, fresh bread rolls, a boiled egg, fruit juice and yoghourt.
Salerno itself was a pleasant surprise. We stayed for 2 nights to have a full day in Paestum and the ancient Greek temples, about 15 miles south of Salerno (easy 25 minute train ride), but we took the chance walk around Salerno. The two jewels we found were the Giardino di Minerva and the wall art in the neghborhood you have to walk through to get to it. The garden is in the middle of a very dense urban neighborhood, on a hillside. It was founded by a dottore in the 13th century who specialized in medicinal herbs. This garden was his teaching tool for the university students who studied under him and is a mini marvel of hydrological engineering. Using natural springs, the water cascades through a series of channels to feed the beds on the 4 levels. Think small Alhambra
