Needs an update.

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The staff are incredible
Cons: The hotel needs an update, a renovation.
Location: Great location, close to great restaurants, shopping, art galleries and tourist stops.
I have stayed at this hotel and other Kimptons over the years. I am a Kimpton member. The staff at the Prescott are incredible..the hotel needs an update. It is tired. I most recently referred friends to stay at the Prescott and they declined due to the reviews and I understand now what people are referring to.

City centre San Francisco

A nice hotel close to union square. I have stayed at the sister hotel "The Palomar"previously and preferred the Palomar. The Prescott is showing its age but is still clean and at the right price is a reasonable hotel.

Overall disappointed...

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: The staff friendliness, complimentary wine, shampoo/conditioner/lotion samples
Cons: Overall cleanliness, price for product
Location: Location was great to get to Union Square - just a couple of blocks away and an easy walk. Nice shops and restaurants - ate at John's Grill - yum!!
For the price, this hotel did not meet my expectations. I felt that the online pictures over-promised and the true experience under-delivered. I appreciate the vintage feel of the space, but my room was incredibly small, had a unique odor, the carpet was stained, the bed cover had a spot that looked like it had been touched by a too-hot press, the tile was cracked in the bathroom floor, and the traffic was loud. On a positive note, the staff were very helpful and friendly, and I enjoyed the complimentary wine in the evenings. The hotel was decent but I was expecting it to be much better than it turned out to be...unfortunate for my first experience to San Francisco.

Very clean, good location

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness, the location, and the sitting room. Also the Free Wifi.
Cons: there was one woman behind the desk who could use a bit more training on basic gracious behavior.
My room was very clean and comfortable with a nice sitting room. Free Wifi. The location is good - about a 30 minute walk to the Civic Center area and Hays Valley, about a 10 minute walk to shopping on Market St. drugstores and good shopping one or two blocks away. The staff in general was very friendly, especially the two housekeeping staff I interacted with who were absolutely kind and gracious.

Close to Union Square

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Staffs are very friendly and kind.
Hotel is located on Post Street which is very close to Union Square and Cable Car stop. There is no convenient store or coffee shop close to the hotel but the hotel provides you complimentary tea / coffee in the morning and also can ask for coffee maker.

Thank you for your review! There are a ton of great coffee shops in the area to include a Starbucks and multiple mom and pop shops that are amazing all very close to the hotel. I will make sure that the front desk is aware to inform our guests better about these options when guests want coffee outside of the hotel. Thanks again.

small

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: The location. Easy access to Union Square and many shops and restaurants.
Cons: WiFi connection, cleaniness, old wall paper, old worn carpet
It can't be helped but it was very small. Small building, small elevator, and old. I would look for something else, that would be farther from the shops but comfortable to stay.

Ok

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: I liked that it was more of a boutique hotel than a massive one.
Cons: The attitude of the front desk.
Location: It is very close to Union Square.
I felt the staff really did not care about us. When we did not get the room we booked they just kind of looked at us like it was no big deal. it was odd. They did finally accommodate us with the club services and said that expedia would comp me the first nights stay.

Wow it seems like we missed the mark and the service that most of our guests come to know when they come to the Prescott. I was very saddened to hear that you didn't experience this. I hope that you give us another shot so that we can show you what we can do.

Close by union square

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: We like pretty much everything.
Cons: Maybe the heater as it was noisy.
Location: Union square, 20 min walk to North beach or Japan town (great restaurants).
Very clean & nice hotel also close by union square. In the evening they have free wine for 1 hour. This was for my birthday and overall both my husband and I really enjoyed our stay.
