The house was nice and very well decorated. The location is quiet and it is a great place to go to get away from it all. We were going to have 8 of us, but 2 couldn't go, which ended up being a good thing considering the sleeping arrangements.
The mattresses in the room with the trundle bed was beyond uncomfortable. You could feel every spring (and see them) in both mattresses and it would have been more comfortable to sleep on the floor. The pull out bed in the sofa was slightly better, but we had to put every quilt we could find in the closet to make it comfortable enough to sleep on.
It was difficult for us to find the rental as the instructions didn't indicate anything about the bridge being out and you can't see the house from the road. From the street, you can't see that there is a road on the side of the bridge. The information in the binder indicated that the bridge should not be used, but that is useless if you can't find the place. We called the property manger, but didn't hear back from her until ½ hour after we found the place.
The binder indicated that there would be coffee, a bottle of wine, and some other goodies to power us through our first night. The basket was empty.
Cleanliness: Although the rental was generally clean, there were quite a few instances of items that showed that it was not fully cleaned. There were two hair ties on the floor in the upstairs, so it obviously was not vacuumed. The sheets in the upstairs bedroom were ripped. The faucets in the bathrooms had water and toothpaste stains on them. The lip of the bathroom counter and the lampshades in the downstairs bedroom were dusty. The nightstand in the downstairs bedroom had a puddle of furniture polish that solidified. There was a Kleenex holder in the upstairs bathroom, but no Kleenex. There were cobwebs and dust bunnies near the fireplace (and the fireplace had not been cleaned out).
Lights: There were 3 lights out in the chandelier in the kitchen, and 2 inset ceiling lights were out. The front and back porch lights did not work. It is really dark up there, with no streetlights, so unless you have a flashlight, you'll have trouble getting in the house.
We barely had enough towels (it was a good thing that 2 of our party did not attend, as that was the only way I had a towel for my hair). The towels were rough and smelled of mildew (they may have been left in the washer too long).
