The views from our balcony apartment were so amazing, the room was clean and comfortable. Amenities were great, tennis court, sit around a fire pit, views of the town from the pool, just beautiful. Only fault is the lack of pressure in the shower

Very narrow and hardly acceptable access to unit which was a long way from where we could park our vehicle. Unit needed updating and freshening.

We met the owner who was very friendly and enthusiastic. He has taken on a massive project in renovating this older property, which has spectacular views over the town of Merimbula. There are still a myriad of details to attend to, and we appreciate that a lot of investment is involved. Our room had no aircon or secure ventilation, but fortunately it was a cool night. Near-new bathroom was very attractive however had some mould present in the grout, so attention to cleaning detail is required.

Hillcrest has amazing views with a really peaceful setting, good renovated rooms with a comfortable bed ,the staff and owners are very friendly and helpful on whatever you want and made us feel at home Plenty to do there including having an open camp fire playground pool and tennis definitely recommend staying there

We stayed at the Hillcrest Hotel for a long-weekend and had such a lovely time. The room was great - with one of the best views I've ever seen. The grounds were amazing - such a picturesque spot to sit after a bit of tennis, a swim in the pool or a sit by the fire. We'll be back!

We had a room on the upper level. Lovely refurbished rooms with great care on the detail. Light and airy with spectacular views and nice touch of having binoculars in the room to catch the passing whales. Reception staff are 5 star. It's not often you can find no fault in a place but the owner has achieved a remarkable and unique place to stay. Best motel you will find. Would stay no where else now. Highly recommend.

On the positive side the rooms are very clean, nicely renovated in 1970s motel style and have beautiful views toward the ocean. Bed linen is high quality and the mini bar well stocked with boutique wines. Didn’t use the pool but it looked nice too in a spacious garden setting. On the negative side parking seems to be insufficient and someone had taken our space when we returned from dinner in town. There is no soundproofing and we were disturbed by noise from a party in another room until 4am. Reception works to office hours 8.30-5.30 and weren’t around for our not-so-late 6pm arrival or not-so-early 8am departure, leading to a mix up with the credit card that was later resolved.

Perfectly renovated retaining the best of the original hotel and balancing it with new materials and fittings to make it all feel current and fresh. Late check in was a blessing and the views are to die for! I also loved that it was away from the main tourist area of Merimbula, as I find this a bit too busy. Will be back soon.

There was a new girl on reception who was lovely and helpful. This motel needs a complete reburbishment. The pool and tenis The worst thing about this motel is NO air-conditioning. Fans are provided but they are useless

Hi Jennifer, I am sorry to hear you were not comfortable with the temperature in the room. The current rooms with a private balcony have a fan and get a beautiful sea breeze, however you stayed in our Sunrise Superior rooms, which don't have the balcony door or ceiling fan. We will be renovating them over the next quarter and are happy with the progress we have made so far with the motel and very excited for the upgrades to come in those rooms and around the property. Fabulous view over the water - but sadly the rain was so extreme that we couldn’t even see that far! Plus the wind was so strong it blew the rain in under our door… Exceptional circumstances for sure. The pool looked nice though. The room and bathroom were fine, though a little tired-looking.

Older 60’s style motel. New owners are doing a fabulous job bringing it back to life. Excellent pool, bbq and tennis court court has a great view over the town and bay. Our room for a couple was adequate in size. The amenities in the room very good with quality bathroom products. A step back in time but well worth it. We would stay again. The outdoor area is accessed by steep stairs from rear of property so this needs to be considered.
