Hotel was clean & well maintained. Reception staff were very helpful & polite. I didnt like the fact my towels & bedding were changed whilst I was having breakfast, prior to my checkout time.

The bus pass is the only reason we stay here. They never upgrade and the beach isn’t attractive and the incoming tide is polluted, but hiking nearby is very good. The pool is ok and keeps kids occupied. The restaurants are strangely expensive, we tried one last year and poured our own wine, though $20000 bottles were on the menu. Front desk had no information to share about bus or hikes. Which if fine though unusual for so many stars. The breakfast is ok but coffee line…ugh…just serve the coffee please. We decided next time to take the extra train and stay closer to hiking and a cleaner beach.

Wonderful view and hotel great! Even had bus to port for our cruise! Great breakfast too! Only down side not any restaurants close just sushi and outdoor restaurants on premises

The swimming pool and beach are amazing. Breakfast was really nice. I did not like the room. Very run down and the bedding was terrible. I booked the room based on 4 star to celebrate my daughter’s end of school. I had to have a room change due to the seal on the back door would not close. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. The new room I got had a ceiling leak and it rained overnight. The leak ruined food gifts that I picked up during my two week vacation in France and Italy. The property would be perfect if they would fix their rooms.

After not very glorious arrival, when the staff person at the parking lot willingly mislead us to park inside (10 euro a night) insisting the outside is equal price (it is free) - and receptionist solved it that we did not have to pay and then for the rest of time we parked outside, the rest of the stay was okay. Some staff were great, some were mediocre (but this is ok). The cleaning lady on our floor was awesome. Breakfasts were awesome. Sushi dinner great. Room facing the sea was great. Overall we like it, except for the last night when there was a wedding in the hotel. Fireworks right under a window at 23:00? This was fine. But another fireworks at 2:00 am? Shame. Disrupted night, bad sleep with next day morning departure.

Disappointing but has potential
Lovely hotel. 3 star with potential to be 4 star. Only allowed to use beach and pool facilities on day of check in - ridiculous. Charged crazy prices for water in room. Staff are friendly but lady at check out very grumpy and sour. A Smile Would go a Long way. Not sure how staff working in a hotel aren’t taught this. Room somewhat basic and lots of dust behind furniture - disgusting. House keeping should know to move tables to clean behind. Again this is basic. On the plus side on the beach with easy beach access. Lovely poolside bar

We had a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. Beautiful room. Great for parking the car. The only disappointment was that the restaurant we would have like to try was closed on the Monday and on the Tuesday was booked out at lunch and dinner for a private function. ( we stayed Monday and Tuesday night)

Savona must stay
The Mare Hotel is a beautiful seaside hotel, my only regret is not booking a water view room. Great service, the restaurants were delicious. The breakfast was included and had a lot of great options.

The property was definitely not close to the pictures shown on the website and felt closer to 1980's Acapulco than a upscale beach resort. The staff was nice and helpful but the air conditioner was broken in our room and felt more like a sauna than a beach oasis. Property needs a lot of love in the future to match the photos being presented and with work could be nice but it definitely located in a less than desirable area along with a horrible proximity to the train station. I would also suggest for the property to run a regular service to the station which would make it easier on their patrons. All and all I would not recommend this property.

We had a great time at Mare Hotel and it exceeded our expectations. The pictures of the rooms look cool, but in person they're even better! Lots of fun touches to make them unique. The pool was gorgeous, the beach was well kept with ample chairs, and the water was very clean. There are lots of seating options and everywhere you look it's very well designed and maintained. Even the lobby had a special metal palm tree, waterfall and rock chair design. So much fun, we highly recommend!

Great beech hotel. My friends had a deluxe double overlooking the sea with a great jetted tub and fabulous furnishings. I had a standard single that was great for my needs. The breakfast, dining and drinking was off the charts. We could not get reservations at the #1 restaurant in Savona as they were booked solid but they made reservations at 3 other places that were hard to beat. Great food at reasonable prices.

The hotel was lovely. However not all the rooms are done to the standard shown on the website . I booked this hotel for my daughters birthday and was meant to be a treat. as the pictures of the rooms looked fantastic, modern with spa tub and lovely shower , I thought we would have a luxury stay. if you are unfortunate like us and get the room which is old then you maybe disappointed. I have asked twice if we could change a room but was a problem. I was disappointed as we stayed a week opposed to the people staying few nights. So the room was rubbish, had a street view which mean that every time you open a balcony , the traffic noise was so loud that you could not hear the tv as well as some work going on from early hours.Apart from that service was lovely , food was fab and staff very kind.

The breakfast was great. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Nice pool next to the beach. It is outside of town without many restaurants in the area except for the hotel restaurants.

Great balcony views, spacious room. Bathroom had no shower screen so water went everywhere when we showered, hotel's location a fair way out of town so be prepared for a 20Euro taxi fare, a 30min hike or get some bus tickets at the Tabacchi shop 1.50 Euro each & catch the local bus. Weird over the top foyer decor, too!

Nice hotel with private beach (clean and good condition), food & drinks ok, internet ok, free parking. Overall was a good experience, but there were few things I didn’t like: the room, was not as expected, was not as in the pictures, outdated; the city was not that nice, quite dirty and no proper walking path to the city centre.

Awesome seaside hotel
I really cool hotel on the seaside in Italy. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was sooo good. We had a city view, I think the sea view would have been awesome but we were only staying one night. The restaurants are nice in the hotel, but pricey. Check in was easy and the staff was nice

Okay for a rest stop (if you like ocean sounds)
The Mare hotel is an older property that is on the Italian coast. While it was serviceable as a place to rest before the our last segment of our drive (we were returning a car in Nice the next morning), it really doesn't qualify as a destination in and of itself. Part of it is that, to a Californian used to sandy beautiful beaches, the beach at the hotel was a bit rocky. Also, there was nowhere near to walk about, it is on a straight one way road with cars zooming by with no restaurants or other enticements to speak of. At least the relatively lower price took this into consideration so it, for us, was an okay value. Being able to leave the balcony door open at night and listen to the ocean at least was soothing. The weather though was perfect for this, you may not be so lucky, you should check if there is air conditioning (I forget).
