Women's Retreat
We had a group of 9 women to spend time in nature and enjoy each other's company. We found the property to be perfect as it was very private, spacial and lots of wildlife. It's close to Highlands Hammock State Park and conveinent to get to stores but feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. I highly recommend it to nature lovers!

Great family get together spot.
Perfect for that family reunion. Sleeps plenty and is extremely comfortable. My only little negative is you hear everything in the house. It’s rustic for sure so no sound insulation whatsoever. So enjoy the outdoors, mosquitoes weren’t bad and it stayed cool under the huge oaks.

I loved the weather, the trees, and the quiet. The property was beautiful, the house clean and comfortable. However there were a few things that I would change. The covered area seems to be a little more weathered in real life than in the pictures and the bathroom with the tub doesn’t let people know that it has an exterior entrance. Outside of that, I appreciated it and would stay again. The owner was very kind and check in was a breeze.

Authentic Florida Retreat
13 of my closest buddies piled in for a Groomsmen retreat / Team off site for our non profit org (Not a bachelor party). Absolutely loved this property. Hung out at the pole barn, perfect fire pit and the basketball hoop in the sand was super cool. 15 mins from town wasn't too bad but being ducked off in real Florida was exactly what we wanted. We drove an hour to take an airboat tour on peace river which was sick. Would highly reccomend!

Great location for family gathering
Plenty of space to spread out with a large group. Didn’t have to worry about noise or staying up late. Definitely need the bug spray and even then time was limited for the outdoor game space Great host communication. No surprises. Would rent again

If bugs and nature freak you out this isn’t the place for you. However we enjoyed the cabin very much. Clean, charming & slept all 13 of us. Outdoor poke barn activities were fun. Only draw back was no ice or way to make ice.

Absolutely Perfect
This property is utterly AMAZING!!! originally it was booked to house the heads of my husband’s company, but was not ideal for where and what they would be doing on a daily basis this trip, especially bc none of them are from Florida and we wanted it to try and keep it as easy and stress free for them as possible. With that said we chose to bring our family and kids with us for this work week adventure instead. It was the best idea!! This home is amazing! My daughter referenced the interior design of the house "like being decorated by Disney, and 1000% more amazing than the Wilderness Cabins only w/o the golf carts...lol" (it used to be their favorite place.) the farm bathrooms were honestly Beautiful! the property is the perfect place to really go spend time with the family and not be distracted from each other. With that said, it is not the place for a group that does not enjoy the outdoors, solitude of nature, peace, quiet, family and have someone in the group to cook...lol Stock up before you go on food and snacks. There are no quick trips to grocery or fast food, that are quick, but that was part of the awesomeness... my kids didn’t even complain once about not being or having any electronic devices. Yes, there is WIFI, but who needs it there (unless working) It’s a place I felt completely safe letting my kids run around playing hide and seek with my adult sister well into the night/early morning without worry of disturbing people or people around our kids. (That is a huge concern these days) there are too many good things to put in one review. the only 2 things I would change about this super amazing house, property, and pole barn/game, play/ family perfect place, would be curtains in the bedrooms, an extra opener for the access gate. People with more than one vehicle will struggle to coordinate being able to get in or out of the property (it was so hard navigating the entrance road if more than one person needed to leave, we got creative) (my sister, her husband, their twins with our kids, and my husband and I were coming and going at all hours, but even with that I would not change a thing… It was part of what makes this place so special. We will be back and next time it will not be coordinated with any work!!!!

Spiritual Getaway
This place is totally isolated from everyday life and yet it's less than 15 minutes to Sebring. It is quiet, surrounded by trees and filled with wildlife - we saw deer and had armadillos scampering around. The inside was spotless and everything we needed was there. We were able to get away without reminders of the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The inside, amenities and the surrounding area was exactly what we were looking for. Betsy was easy to communicate with and prompt when we submitted questions. Very happy with our choice.

A Beautiful Home to Disconnect
Our family enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful stay at this beautiful cabin. Being able to disconnect from the outside world was amazing. The inside is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The bathrooms are clean and comfortable to use. Towels were plentiful and the beds were super comfortable. WiFi worked well for all 7 of us. We loved spending time at the pole barn - playing pool, ping pong or darts. We shot some hoops at the sand basketball court. We sat around the bonfire pit and roasted marshmallows. We used the charcoal grill to make several meals. The tree swing provided hours of entertainment for our younger family members. We even took a stroll to spot some animals - a family of deer, cows, and armadillos to name a few. Betsy was very responsive and informational before, during and after our visit. It’s was exactly what we were looking for and it lived up and exceeded our expectations!

Can’t wait to go back
We’re all already talking about when we can go back! We got so lucky with the weather for April (low 50s in Florida?!) and we enjoyed being able to sit outside by the fire immensely. We had no issues while we were there with the property itself and you can tell it’s well taken care of. It was a great weekend full of decompressing from reality and we all couldn’t recommend it enough!

What a neat place!
We've stayed in many rental properties in the Sebring / Lake Placid area, since we are a group of race officials who work at Sebring Raceway every March. We all agreed that this place is so much more interesting than the standard rental house. Can't wait to stay here again!

Home away from home
This property was sooooo amazing! It’s a get away from life place! We were able to disconnect with the every day life and focus on the people around us! There was tv upstairs for the nighttime movies and sooo many on site activities. Basketball hoop, pool table, ping pong table, a swing and a hammock were just a few things we enjoyed. The kids had a blast too! Took the iPads away and they never even noticed! There was just much to enjoy. I can’t say enough nice things about this property. You can tell the Betsy really cares about her home and it was lovely inside and out.

Beautiful outside
The outside more then exceeded my expectations..it so far from the road you don't hear traffic..except for the few vehicles that drive by that live on the road.. the inside was nice. A little tight and weird for 12 adults that aren't related. We had a second house for 4 days so was able to get the guests down to 10 witch was perfect for place ..but some of us are larger then the average bear ...but if it was for a couple familys the 13 it says its rated for would be just fine.... Also bring your own propane tanks they don't pervide for outside cooking area.

Wonderful oasis in Sebring!
We were in the area for a driving event at Sebring, and it was wonderful to come back to the cabin after a long day in the race car. Each of us noted how serene and quiet the property is, truly the definition of peaceful rest. The hostess with the mostess a well, she was prompt to answer questions we had prior to arrival and everything we expected to have on-site was present. We look forward to staying again in the future!

Perfect for us!!
We were in town to celebrate my grandfathers 90th birthday! The outdoor space was amazing! The fire ring was nice, the outdoor bar area was perfect! The pool table and ping pong table and outdoor tv kept everyone entertained, too! The cabin itself was nice! Loved all the decor. The door system was odd with all the deadbolt locks. Made us a little nervous in case of fire. The one bathroom is in a screened in porch area, which I'm sure if fine most of the time, but during our stay it got down in the 40s. The location is nice, you can get to either coast in an hour or so. Lots of great things to do near by.

Excellent family cabin trip
Amazing trip, great location, plenty to do on property. With the exception of going to the grocery store, we didn’t leave the property the whole time. We had kids, ages 1-8, and they had plenty to do on property, as did the adults. Great family memories were made.

Fun cabin
My family and I stayed at cracker hammock for 5 days for a small getaway from Miami and we had such a great time. It’s a beautiful property with lots of trees and places to relax with a hammock and rocking chairs and bench. Saw some wildlife. We loved the decor and enjoyed staying here so much. The entertainment area outside was great and we spent a lot of time there playing ping pong and pool. The campfire area was also great and comfortable. We loved that they have two living room areas one upstairs and one downstairs. The upstairs living room had appletv, which my kids really enjoyed when they wanted some screen time. The kitchen was fully stocked, but the stovetop and oven weren’t the most convenient. It’s a smaller oven, so keep that in mind if you plan on using it… larger baking sheets won’t fit. There were a few things that didn’t make it ideal but we still had a great time and accommodated. Other things worth mentioning are mosquitos, the bathroom situation is weird, and the walls are thin (like you can here someone whispering in the room beneath you thin), and the water. With the mosquitos, it’s Florida so there’s no escaping this just bring spray…. It wasn’t too bad since we came in Jan and it’s a little cooler. There are three beautifui bathrooms (with big sinks!) in total but their locations aren’t the most convenient. There is one downstairs between the main area of the house and one of the large rooms which is connected to the room full of bunk beds. Then, there’s an outside bathroom connected to that same room. And then there’s a bathroom upstairs inside the other large room. If you are in the room with bunk beds you need to go through the large room first to access the bathroom. If you are in one of the other two rooms upstairs you need to either go downstairs or go through the large room to access the bathroom. Also, you can’t fart in this house without someone knowing it. The walls are super thin, so if you want privacy or to sleep in, this isn’t the place for it… Last, the house uses well water and is connected to a septic tank. We have never used well water, so after midnight when the system shuts down and one of us was showering to their surprise it started smelling like rotting eggs! The water is still clean and drinkable it just wreaks! We contacted Betsy at one in the morning thinking maybe the septic tank was coming up and she responded right away and calmed us down because it was no big deal, just use water before 12.

Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We do appreciate your feedback and we do try our best to continue making our place comfortable for every guest. As you mentioned we do have a standard oven in our fully stocked kitchen. Our stove top has 4 burners and works great but it does have a child and fire safety switch (just a press of a button). We understand this may be an inconvenience but we always strive for safety first. Please know that our well water filtered system is NOT connected to the septic system. These are two completely separate systems. As mentioned, the smell is caused by Sulfur in the water due to a reset the water system does occasionally, on a timer, late at night. We have adjusted the timer to avoid this issue. Also, the cabin is mostly built of cedar wood so that is what basically separates each wall. The cabin layout is explained on our site and detailed within each picture. We have guests that return year after year that love the cabin just as it is. We recently did all the floorings and upgraded the bathroom to continue to provide a beautiful vacation place for all to enjoy. And just like many of our guests we hope to come back and visit again.

Fun Family Getaway
Everything was perfect! We arrived to a very clean and beautifully decorated home. A great double level layout with an abundance of beds and two living areas. As much as we truly enjoyed the inside, the outside was an even bigger hit! Not sure what we enjoyed most. Pool table, ping pong table, card table, dart board, chair swing, hammock or fire pit. The owners father made us feel very welcomed when he stopped over to make sure we had everything we needed. Overall this is a great home being offered by a great family. You can tell they take pride in sharing it with others. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Just make sure to take care of the place because we’ll be coming back!

Magical place
This was our 3rd time staying at Cracker Hammock! We absolutely love this place… The property is nestled in the woods. We sat around the fire pit and roasted s’mores nightly… the outdoor pool table and ping pong table is the best for the kids… can’t wait to return next year!

What a great escape! Beautiful property, nature abounds!
We selected this cabin initially due to its size and proximity to highlands hammock state park (where my brother was getting married). But once we got there realize it’s an amazing vacation destination on its own! What a beautiful place! It was perfect for our two families and beautiful for photos of my brother getting ready for the big day before heading over to the park. The kids enjoyed exploring the property and especially the outdoor tv and ping pong. So comfortable and quiet, we can’t wait to return when we can enjoy it more. Definitely take the owners suggestions to heart, so helpful! Thank you for sharing your beautiful place.

Cracker hammock stay
The property was perfect for our weekend, everything was great. The outside cooking equipment wasn’t usable but we decided on cooking something else anyway. The property manager did visit two times during our rental which made my friends a bit uncomfortable but he was only asking that we not drive fast on dirt roads and to not leave the lights on in the pole barn when not in use, all of which was asked of us in the welcome letter which is fine, but a message on the app would have sufficed. Overall great cabin, we had a great time and will recommend to others!

Hi Matt, glad you enjoyed your stay. Please know our outdoor kitchen is fully functional and usable but you do need to bring your own propane tank and charcoal if you'd like to use it as stated in our rental agreement (Since we do have a full cooking kitchen outdoors aside from the indoor kitchen, it is optional to use by guests). You can also just use the charcoal BBQ which we have 2 for our guests to use. Our property manager may visit the property at times or sometimes not at all, as also stated on our agreement. But he just checks to make sure everything is ok for the guests, if they need anything and/or if there is extra overload of garbage to throw out for the guests safety. His purpose is not to bother the guests but to help out if needed. In this case he did notice that the pole barn lights were left on all night while not in use and he was just letting you know to please turn them off when not in use and to drive safely in the dirt road since there are children at times on that road. Our #1 goal is for guests to gather with family and friends to enjoy there stay and be safe in our Cabin. Thank you and we hope you visit again.

Cracking up at the Cracker Hammock Cabin
Our entire time we had a blast from the time around the fire to the hours we spent on the pool table and darts. This place was all it was said to be. We loved it for the event we held. A/C works great, the location itself is in the middle of the woods but 20 min to just about everything. We would highly recommend this cabin as the owners are very responsive and the location is spot on.

Quiet and peaceful
We had a really nice time. The cabin had a beautiful park like setting. We live in a cabin in theTN mountains and we wanted to have a home feeling. We definitely had that but it also had a different feel as well. The cabin is within an hour and 20 mins to either coast and that was great for us cause we wasn't looking to stay on the beach. If you are not fond of lizards be aware they are here lol. We all got a kick out of watching them and we also had a few come inside. My son in law is like Ace Ventura so he gently got them back outside. Just bring some extra toiletries and trash bags. We would stay here again in a heartbeat

Thank you for your review and hope you do return to visit again as you mentioned. The cabin is in the woods and there is plenty of wildlife including lizards this is what makes the place an adventure. We are also in Florida were it is expected you may have one or two lizards come inside your home, not always, but at times, no matter where you live and same applies to the cabin.

A beautiful retreat cabin
We were 5 senior ladies and 2 little dogs. We wanted to be away for our Reiki and Meditation Retreat. The place couldn't have been better. We may come back in the fall. The property is so peaceful and the natural landscape is lovely. Beds and pillows are comfortable and kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook. Bathrooms were clean and bedlinen as well. However, bedspreads or comforters were not washed, the sofa cover needs good washing and cushions as well. In Covid days, we would expect it to look cleaner. Kitchen was clean but counter tops could had been cleaner. There was no WiFi until we found out that they had left it unplugged. We could not walk barefoot because the floor was very dirty. It looks like the house is only cleaned superficially. Guests, don't forget repellents, the mosquitos there are vicious. 😊 In general, we were very happy with the cabin, but feel that cleaning should be improved. Thank you.

Hi, your review is really difficult for me to comprehend. First, we allowed you to bring your 3 little dogs when our max is 2. Plus, we allowed you to check-in early at no additional charge. Meaning, we did above and beyond for you and your guests. And the strangest of all is that our cleaning lady happen to be out sick and I had to personally go clean the house myself which I detailed and I am very picky about cleaniness, same as I expect from my crew. I really don't know what happened or the reason for your partially negative review.

Beautiful, scenic property with gracious space
A lot of room for activities for a group without feeling on top of each other nor isolated from each other at any given point. Cabin theme was great and consistent inside and out. Area was close to town for food-running and whatnot. Weather was great and plenty of shade. The only downside were these stinging yellow flies; but some citronella and bug spray took care of that, but that is natural to that part of FL. Likely to book again!

Excellent Celebration Getaway
This cabin was wonderful. Cozy, rustic and warm. 13 of us stayed at the cabin to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday and it was so comfortable. The host, Betsy, was always so responsive and helpful. Lovely cabin

A very quiet escape
We had a great time exploring the property and had plenty of room to spread out and relax inside. Yes the second floor bathroom is inside the master, but plenty of other reviewers have mentioned that so there’s no reason to complain. The property is very private but not too far from the town and stores either. We would very much stay here again!

A little hidden gem!
This place was just what we needed after a rough year! Finally got to get away with family and be safe. The house is cozy and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Is just like camping but you’ve got the place to yourself. Our group really enjoyed listening to music, grilling , playing pool and having some adult beverages at the fire pit! We are all talk about how we can’t wait to go back. We will definitely be making this cabin a regular event on our calendar. Til we meet again cracker hammock cabin 😊

Perfect group destination.
Hate planning a group trip then trying to motivate everyone to go out once settled - this cabin is a solution. Two living areas, well appointed, and many outdoor places for congregations. Three couples and plenty of kids we had a great time!

Great stay at Cracker Hammack!!!
This is our third stay at Cracker Hammack. This week I will book next year. Cannot say enough wonderful things about this property. Great getaway in country setting but close to shopping, golf courses and restaurants. Thank Betsy, Dennis, and Dennis's father for a fantastic stay!
