These rooms were great! We enjoyed our stay and wished it was longer to be honest. We arrived around 6pm and didn't leave the property. There only thing that would've been better was if the spa was open. We could've really used a massage.

near sligo general hospital
not wanting to travel in the dark for an early hospital appointment. delighted we decided to book in Clayton hotel for the night. made life so much easier. 7 am breakfast left me plenty of time to get to my appointment. will use again for future appointments .

Our room was a distance away from everything and there was no water in room. Mentioned to receptionist and informed must be requested if needed. Never went to a hotel where you had to queue for your tea/coffee, only one coffee machine. Had to bring your mug up from your table as none available at machine. Found this very process orientated like a work canteen not a hotel. There was also no lockers beside the beds. To end positively, the bed was comfortable, the price for the charge for b&b was good. The dinner was lovely in the bar/ restaurant.

Smart tv not so smart,would not connect to internet,reception on check out said they got new tvs a few MONTHS back and had to get someone in to set them up correctly.Tv in room did not have basic channels line Virgin Media,ITV,8 channels in total!Could not watch the rugby in the room.Carpet soiled in several areas.

A restuful stop on our long journey
After a long drive from Galway city to Donegal, we returned to Sligo for an overnight stay to break the journey back to Galway. We had a lovely dinner and the room was very comfortable. The Clayton has a lovely setting and is so close to the town centre. Would love to return again.

Interesting Institution
Humongous old mental institution. Many heavy narrow doors (5 for us) to navigate through to get to our room. Room was spacious, dark and miles away from reception. Restaurant closes at 10:45am and pub opens at noon. Unfortunately we showed up at 11am so no food for us.

Arrived at 3. No rooms available . Said they would call when one came available. Returned at 4 pm. Their official check in time. Got a room right away . Never got a call. Later. When we returned from dinner, the lights would not work. Staff made effort to correct. But had to move us to a different room . This happened around 9 pm. Finally got settled in Otherwise this is a very fine property. Has an interesting history. Bit of a rabbit warren on the room floors.

Staff were welcoming. Beds comfortable. Food was tasty. Plenty of food available at self-service breakfast. Teaspoons aren’t park of the breakfast cutlery on the table so had to ask each morning for one. If swimming, everyone (child/adult) must wear a swimming hat. You can purchase for €3. I don’t recall reading this information in the hotel description. I think this detail should be included.

Nice spot that allows booking more than just 2 people in a room. We didn't have our kid with us but appreciated how kid friendly it was. Clean rooms and hospitable staff. Would definitely recommend to others.

We had to walk soooooo far to get to our room Laughable Then there was no wifi at the room Had to walk all the way back to get on it again Kept bumping off the wifi As a family traveling from the US no reliable wifi was not acceptable Had an outside security light shining into the room all night Room phone was unplugged and unpluginnable so with no phones and no wifi and so far away from the reception area etc felt very remote and detached Could not plan the rest of our travels from our room as got bumped off the wifi (again ) and was not prepared to do the long walk back to the elevators in our nightwear I guess it was quiet? Except our room had a mystery door to someone else’s room and we could hear them and their kids (!) No toiletries except a serve all shower gel Cracked basin Generally not very happy and this was not a cheap stay Very disappointed
