Sor-Fron is situated approximately 110 miles (177 kilometers) north of Oslo, the national capital.
Sor-Fron isn't the only spot in this popular region worth seeing; those with enough time can also hit the road and discover the special qualities of the nearby scenery, communities and cultural attractions. You may also wish to check out Oyer, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the northwest, and Otta 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the southeast.
Grab some transportation and spend half a day in Hamar, a shopping and transport center for the region, 60 miles (97 kilometers) away from Sor-Fron. The city offers a wide range of attractions, for example Hedmarksmuseet, Torggata Street and Vikingskipet Arena. Be sure not to head back to Sor-Fron until you've investigated Hamar's Briskeby Gressbane, Mjosa and Hamar Cathedral.
Religion is an intrinsic element of every region's make-up, so be sure spend a little time in Eastern Norway's churches and other religious sites. If the weather forecast isn't that great, plan to spend some of your time in Eastern Norway's art museums, history museums and theaters.
Plan a trip during winter and have a go at some of the local wintersports including cross-country skiing and skiing. Both of these are popular in the Eastern Norway. For those who love the water, include some watersports in your itinerary. Fishing is popular and another great activity is boating.
As your adventures here draw to a close, spend what's left of your Norwegian kroner on that last souvenir and bid a fond Ha det bra (farewell) to the locals you've met and the places you've come to love.
