Pros: walking distance to botanical gardens, opera house, circular quay, shopping and restaurants. Breakfast included - simple but yummy (Toast, eggs, sausages, cereal, cows and soy milk, yoghurt, fruit, coffee)
Cons: reception is only open from 9am to 5pm so if you need any assistance you have to ring the manager who to be honest, is a bit hostile and seems to get annoyed if you ring him after hours.
I also paid for a family room with a deck but got given a room without a deck. When I questioned the manager he said he actually had upgraded us to a better/newer room without a deck (meaning I had gotten a better deal despite not getting a varanda room) but to be fair, our room did not look new, it looked exactly the same as the room next door WITH a varanda, that we saw open while the housekeepers were cleaning. So I basically feel a bit ripped off by the hotel.
Also, when reserving this hotel with Expedia the booking stated “reserve now, pay at the property” however a week before our arrival I got a AU$500 deposit.
When I rang to check will I was being charged before my arrival, the manager said it was because it was a busy time in Sydney (during Taylor Swift concert) and they need a deposit to secure the booking. It was ok with us because we already had the money saved for accommodation, but it’s unfair that the hotel stated one thing on Expedia and didn’t honour it when time came.
