Primitive hike to tent site
This isn’t a bad site, however the given description is not adequate. This is a primitive campsite- you must carry all your gear up a giant mountain at a steep grade. My elementary and preschool kid could climb it but I had to carry the gear. We are in good shape and without gear it probably took about 10 minutes to get to our site- up the front of the hill, over the top, and to the back. Some people had incredible views. Ours was ok- partially looking over a decrepit residence. Hilltop tent sites are first come first serve- pick your spot. This was the first few days of spring break and it was packed. We arrived about 5:00 and it got dark around 8/8:30. This company, Space Cowboys, also rents out yurts, tepees, large tents, etc. There is a big sign off the highway which made it easy to find. When I arrived there were a couple of people before me wanting to check in also. There were two Hispanic men working who did not speak English. I showed him my printed out reservation and he just pointed to the top of the mountain. Thankfully there was another camper near by who came over and translated for me where I needed to go. I and many other campers were clearly shocked at where our sites were. There are also cheaper sites in a grassy area right by the parking lot- wish we would have gotten that! I would have definitely packed differently had I known the steepness of the hill. The workers there had an atv/mule and I tipped him $10 to take a load up the mountain. Bathrooms clean.

We did love the over all experience but on a busy day during spring break the overall feeling was less satisfying. The host was on a plane during checkin and not reachable as described in the arrival letter. They did have someone on site to greet people but neither person spoke English. They did try really well and we worked it out. The sites are not designated to the reservation and it became a first come first pick situation. Too many people on site and over night the water ran out and the toilets would no longer flush. The helpers on-site would use a UTV to move camping gear to your site that you picked, but ran over a lot of the vegetation that made the site nice. The stars were beautiful and the site was quiet. If this was handled better in the future, I would consider doing again. Oh and be ready for a steep hike to the top of the hill. The toilets were about halfway down the hill so it was a hike each time the toilet was needed. Better descriptions of the challenges of this site are needed in the reservation description. Highs and lows on this trip. Beautiful site but room for improvement. Thanks.

Great Spot near Terlingua - Descriptions leave a lot to be desired
We book this stay for the Thanksgiving Week 2023. We reviewed several places around Terlingua and decided on this one. Based on the description, pictures, etc we were expecting something far different from what was actually present. This site is some distance away from parking the 'hill' mentioned is actually a very high rock outcropping that leaves you scrambling up the final 30 feet. Totally not what we expected when the description mentions trailer lengths etc. The property owner quickly changed our site and was VERY accommodating, if you are renting a yurt or geodome at this property you are in for a real treat, but if you are renting a tent site....please ask for details!

Had a really great time during our stay. The campground is beautiful and is convenient. 5 mins away from a gas station and 15 mins away from Terlingua. Owner is very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this campground.
