Cosy but needs a little maintenance
Home was cosy and spacious. Very private and we loved how cold the aircons were and how comfortable the beds were. A large TV in the lounge was a huge hit for my kids. Also worth mentioning that we did not hear one plane during our 3 days stay considering the airport is close by. Just needs some maintenence as the refrigerator wasn't cold enough both fridge and freezer struggled. Toilet struggled to flush thus causing a clog. Separate to the maintenance i found it extremely difficult to get a hold of the owner or manager of the property on two occassions. Prior to booking and also via email to potentially extend our stay. It seems we were communicated by an automated email system. I would definitely stay again as this was convenient and a family orientated home.

Home with it all, close to airport
Would totally book this property again. Whilst being conveniently located close to the airport and on the main road to the airport, I found that at nights the sound of the traffic was next to none due to minimal or no flights. Kitchen well set up. Huge TV. Washing machine, but no dryer. Dried quick on clothesline. Garage for off street parking. Excellent communication from host before, during and after stay. Dolce Gusto coffee pod machine (bring your own pods). 6 min drive to Castletown Shopping Centre. Very easy drive to navigate to hospital/JCU about 10min.

Garbutt house review
The house is a short (5 to 10 mins) from The Strand and the city centre but is on the main road leading to the airport so there is quite a lot of traffic so at night it is best to keep doors and windows closed. One problem was that that 2 of the bedrooms had noisy air conditioners and the a/c in the main bedroom wouldn't cool. However the a/c in the living area was quiet and efficient. In the kitchen we noticed that the range hood didn't work and the oven door wouldn't close properly. We enjoyed our stay overall and weekly rate is not expensive but some appliances need replacing.

Weekend visit
We stayed for a weekend to visit friends and get a break from the wet in Brisbane. The house is simple and pleasant, but needs a little maintenance on the internal fixtures (bathroom door latch and AC in the bedrooms), but was a great base for our short time away.

Short Stay
We were very happy with our stay in the 3 bedroom home. there were 3 of us staying here so plenty of living space for us. The place is close to the airport but we could hardly hear the planes. In fact the whole area seemed very quiet so it really suited our requirements. The house is fully airconditioned but the box a/c units in the bedrooms get very noisy so had to shut them down in order to get a decent sleep. Overall we really enjoyed the comfortable stay and will look to stay here again when we go to Townsville.

It was great and simple! Surprisingly no noise from the airport nearby.
Was a pleasant stay, we did experience a general plumbing problem but the property manager was easily contactable and had the situation sorted quickly with no distractions. No real noise from the airport and how close it is to the house, except for the Army Jets & helicopters taking off but this was more of a spectacular experience

Reasonable Stay
We stayed in the top floor unit. There was 4 people who stayed in this house, all adults 31 - 53 age group. We found the house neat enough and fresh with plenty of natural daylight inside. There was plenty of cooking utensils and some generic condiments in the pantry salt,pepper, glad wrap, foil etc... We loved the louvre windows, so old school but a really fresh touch. The washing machine was also very convenient to have there although a bit awkward to access with the kitchen table blocking off the cupboard laundry in the kitchen space. The beds were really comfortable not a single complaint from any of us, they were really good. However an extra blanket would have been nice as it was quite cold overnight & early morning. The shower door had a big crack in it which stops the shower door from closing properly along with the water not draining properly from the plug hole. To have a shower you’d have to turn the shower on, then off whilst you soap n shampoo up let-the water drain out then turn the shower back on wash off etc...2or 3 times throughout the shower you’d have to turn it on n off to allow water to drain otherwise it ended up flooding the bathroom etc! The noise from the airport behind the house seemed to echo through the house like the planes were taking off from the lounge room. It was very noisy, as was the road noise etc. at night time the noise was like it was right in the house, streetsweeper, rubbish collection truck, planes, cars racing in the street etc....very noisy! The garage was great to have the shut down roller door so you could get the car off the street - this was a good idea. The lock up, fenced off yard was great even though it was a shared yard with the downstairs unit, good if you have small children to keep them in the yard. We found Garbutt to be in between the places we wanted to be - Bushland Beach & Townsville Strand. Location was good for us with IGA a stones throw away. Overall there were things we were ok with and some we weren’t!

Lovely modern home with plenty of room
Everything from kitchen to bathroom was modern and comfortable. We felt right at home. Loved the lounge, plenty of space for the four of us. Check in was easy, we made the short walk from the airport. The neighborhood was a little noisy with the Army base flying their helicopters overhead. We do appreciate this wouldn't be all year round. On closer inspection we were a little disappointed with the cleaning, and the quality of the cooking utensils. Other than that, we had a great stay.

Nice little stay
Place is a good size for a small family or a few friends. Loved the shower head so good. Bedrooms spacious with built in wardrobes. Kitchen well equipped with a decent size fridge. Could do with a washing line in the back yard or on the balcony - drying rack provided though just a tid small. Super close to airport but not a problem noise wise. Beautiful view of castle hill.

Simple good budget accommodation
