Very friendly Staff, comfortable and Clean room and very tasty made from scratch breakfast. Do not drive a car to this location unless you are willing to juggle.... and if so do an automatic transmission one never a shift stick unless you are comfortable; very steep and narrow streets.

Thank you very much for your words and for your qualification and for having shared a bit of your time with us. Your rating urges us to improve in those aspects that it is possible to improve. 90% of Valparaíso has narrow and steep streets and there are very few parking lots, so the recommendation is valid, but if you dare, we have closed and secure parking.

Olde world charm
The warmth of the two hosts was the key. They made us feel at home from the beginning to the end of our stay. The place is a grand old house converted into a small hotel and is situated on one of the several hills that make this city so extraordinary. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Thank you very much for your words and your rating that give us a joy at work, we want to do better every day. If we are located at the piedmont of the hill in a city that is formed by 90% in the hills. Unfortunately there are jobs on the street that end at the end of December 2017, we hope for the best. We previously informed all our clients about the works so that do not be a bad surprise and they can change your choosing

The road outside the hotel was dug up so the area around it resembled a building site, not the hotels fault but it detracted from the experience of staying in the city. The two girls running the hotel are very friendly and nothing too much trouble, nice sitting chatting to them and other guests of an evening in the lounge. Hotel needed an upgrade, my shower door didn't fit properly and kept falling off but the room was clean and tidy with good view over city. I would prefer to stay in Cerro Concepcion where restaurants are much better, I couldn't find one around hotel that was any good.

Thank you so much for your words. We are happy that your stay has been pleasant and we deeply regret that our rating has been reduced by 40% just because it is not located in Cerro Concepción. It is possible that due to the lack of knowledge of the city of our client, have not found restaurants to your liking near our establishment, but there is an extensive offer near the center of the city and in the worst case we are only 5 minutes by car of Concepción Hill. Thank very much Muchas gracias por sus palabras.

Delightful Stay!
The hosts at the Grand House are amazing women -- very kind. We arrived late (around 8:00 p.m.) and were offered hot tea and cookies. Breakfasts were excellent. On the day we wanted to go to Vina del Mar to see the sights our hosts offered us a ride. This is an quaint and super comfortable place to stay. But, as other reviewers noted it is not for guests who can't climb steps! Wonderful place to stay!!!

A hidden gem in Valparaiso
This boutique hotel is a hidden gem at the top of a hill. I was living at the second floor and the view is just amazing. The room is clean and elegant. The staff are super friendly and there is a variety of antique collections. The breakfast is plenty and all are very delicious. This hotel is close to the Valparaiso site and other tourist attractions as well. Overall, I highly recommend this boutique gem.

Our hosts were really lovely and tried to be very accommodating and helpful. We were not in the area that we had hoped to be so it was more difficult to get around. The breakfast was inadequate in terms of the quality of the food - canned fruit, sliced bread, etc. (though the eggs were good) and that was a disappointment as we are more used to home baked goods and fresh fruit, etc. The beds were too soft for our liking.

Grand House B&B Victorian Style
The Grand House was on the old residential part of the town without any funicular. Be prepared to cab it or use a Collectivo to climb up the steep slopes. The house itself was great and the landladies were absolutely phenomenal. They tended to us really well and were very hospitable.

A True Gem...Highly Recommended!
This elegant, family-run mansion was an absolute delight. Great location is very simple to access as it is just a few steps from a collectivo (shared taxi) stop that takes you to and from the center for less than a dollar. Each room is decorated with gorgeous antiques and fine art. Delicious breakfast individually prepared and served on bone china with silver flatware. The owners spoke perfect English and made us feel incredibly welcome. We spend 100+ nights a year in hotels around the world and this is one we will never forget.

Grand House, in Chile, is Casa Grande. It is!
Indeed it is like going to visit Grandma but with a delightful twist. The Ladies (Twins) who own and operate it are exceptional. Helpfull, considerate, very knowledgeable about the area and great senses of humor. Breakfast on the patio with all of Valparaiso laid out below you is a memory that will last. I recommend a taxi (very low cost) to get there, and be sure to tell the driver it is "Cerro La Cruz" since street names, shared among the many "Hills" of the city can be somewhat confusing. Many major flags could take customer care lessons from these Ladies! I thank them for making a 3 day business trip a pleasure.

Terrible beds, nice people
The house is on a hill, kind of hard to get to on foot, and a 5,000 CLP ride away from the Valparaiso bus station (Rodoviario). The staff are super nice, the view is great and the house is cozy and has an old house charm that will be attractive to many. However, the beds are terrible. My back is still aching from the U position I was in all night. That is the only reason why I don't plan to return on my next trip. I'm sure they could change that easily if they wanted.

A unique experience
The first impression was a shock because the house was on a rough street which the taxi driver could not find. This impression was soon overcome by the welcome shown us by the two owners - delightful twins who constantly went out of their way to answer all our queries and who shared with us our delight in Valparaiso, its history and its attractions. Meals were more than just breakfast and included coffee and toast or cookies whenever we arrived back from trips to other parts of the city and its neighbour, Vina del Mar. Among the attractions of the house were its fabulous view over the harbour and its amazing collections of silver, china and crystal. We enjoyed the experience of using "collectivo" taxis, trolley buses, buses and light rapid transit to get around.

A very nice B-and-B indeed at the price we paid. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also pretty good and the place it was served on the picturesque balcony with lots of floral around. The location of this hotel is on the slopes of the hill with crowded residences. I was terribly afraid to drive the car to reach this place. But after couple of times we used to get of it.

Quirky and unique and fantastic
Fantastic quirky hotel, great views of the city, super friendly and accommodating hosts. The only possible negative is that the hotel is a bit away from the center of Valparaiso, but all that is required to make it to the center is to take the wonderful trolley bus (straight out of the '60s) for 250 CHP! Also, the use of collectives to make it back up the hill to the hotel saves up on having to hiking up the hill, for only 450 CHP.

Great view!
We were catching a cruise and had a night to spend in Valparaiso. Wanted something unique to the area. Found this lovely old house....now hotel/bed and breakfast. The building is close to 100 years old and high up the mountain. The house is full of family heirlooms almost to the point of clutter. Doris is a lovely young lady who runs the B & B with her twin sister. She went out of her way to assist us in whatever we needed or wanted. She picked us up from the bus terminal and took us to the pier. The rooms are decorated in Victorian Style and have great windows that overlook the city and ocean. Breakfast was tasty and ample. I would definitely recommend to those that like to get acquainted with a new city.

Very nice hotel with a lovely sight of Valpo
The only complain I could have is that it is a bit on the expensive side, but the rooms are all very nice and clean and most have a nice view of Valpo. Owners are very friendly and the breakfast they serve is very complete. It's easy to get back to the hotel after spending the night bar hopping; just take a "colectivo" (shared taxi) from Plaza Italia and tell the driver to drop you off at an specific ascensor (ask the hotel owner for the specific name). If you are new to Valpo and get there by car I would suggest arriving when there is still daylight as the streets up the hill are very confusing and you will need to ask a local for directions.

Disppointing
The hotel (it is a bed & breakfast) is at the top of the mountain. The road led us to the hotel was very narrow and steep. Very very very hard to drive. There is no sign on the house indicating it is a hotel. We had to stop to ask someone in the neighborhood (shaddy) to find the place. Once we got in and found that the hallway had old and dity carpets. Everthing is old in the house. The view from the house was excellent though. However that was not the hotel I was expecting. We did not want to stay there anymore. I asked the manager or the owner if I can cancel the booking. She refused and charged us one night without stay.

Likely one of the best B&Bs in Cerro La Cruz
Overall, very positive experience with this hotel and its Staff (Doris and Carolina). The neighborhood around this B&B is kinda shady in appearance but during the day it felt safe and in the evenings we'd simply take the collectivo, which is like a lower cost taxi at about 450 pesos/person (like $0.90 USD). When heading to the Grand House we were worried about the surrounding environment. The house, however, has been well taken care of and it shows. When you finally enter the house and see it, you will breathe a sigh of relief.

A taste of Valparaiso
Our hosts, twins Doris and Christina, were gracious hosts. The picked us up from the bus terminal, and upon arrival to the house, gave us freshly made jugo natural, provided a map of the city and directions of where to go. After our welcome, we settled in to our delightful light and airy rooms, decorated by the mother of the family. The overall décor was a combination of antique furniture and collectibles. Doris walked us down the hill to show us where to catch the trolley and colectivo to get around the city and back to the house. The beds were very comfortable and with windows that open in my room, I was able to sleep with the air of Valparaiso wafting over me, awaking to the rising sun. Lovely. After a wonderful night's rest, we headed to the garden balcony (created and cared for by Christina) to a enjoy a wonderful and relaxed breakfast of fresh juice, coffee, bread, egg, ham, yogurt and more. So much food prepared with love and presented beautifully. If you want to experience a little bit of Valparaiso life vs. staying in a big hotel, this is a great place to stay. My friend and I had booked one room with two beds. Doris ended up giving us each a separate room at the same price which was wonderful. At the end of our stay, Doris loaded our luggage into her car and took us back to the bus station. Delightful stay overall. I highly recommend this B&B. Book ahead. The place was full each night we were there.

All rooms with a fabulous views of Valparaiso
My wife and I spent two nights at the Grand House and had a wonderful experience. The proprietors are sisters who both speak English, and we had several long and interesting conversations--they are delightful, gracious and very helpful people! The house is charming--built almost 100 years ago and adorned with many collections, including china, paintings and family photos. The view from our room--and from all the guest rooms, as far as we could tell--was fabulous, with a full unobstructed view of the harbor and the hills surrounding the city, the houses immediately below, and the city itself directly below. It's a steep but short walk down the hill (cerro) to the city, and a ride back up the hill in the shared cabs (collectivos), which all leave from Parque Italia, is fast, reliable and only $1 per person! The sisters told us about the cabs, the low-cost trolleys and buses, and gave us many other great tips, including a traditional, reasonable and very atmospheric downtown restaurant call Cinzano. Pablo Neruda's Valparaiso house/museum is just a few minutes away on an adjacent hill, via the public 'Zero' bus. I can't imagine anyone not having a great time at this place. The cost of the room was about half the rate we paid at our hotel in Santiago.

This place is an experience. The good kind.
We stayed here for a night before our cruise. We took a bus from Santiago and it dropped us off about a mile from this Bed and Breakfast. I don’t normally stay at a Band B but it was the only place left that had good reviews. The reviews are right. The place was the best place we stayed at on our trip. It is run by two sisters that are the nicest people that you will ever meet. They even served us an afternoon tea on the patio that overlooks the town. They both speak English and Spanish. The view from your room is better than nearly any part of the town. Staying here gave us the feeling of being part of the town rather than just staying at a normal hotel that does not offer the experience of this charming town. If I ever leave out of this port town again, I would without hesitation stay here again. They even gave me a ride to the cruise terminal which is about a half mile from this place. The place is filled with beautiful antiques and will blow you away. It looks like the photos do.

We loved our stay at the hotel. The owners are the nicest and the most helpful people we have ever encountered. We felt like we were not simply "customers", we were "guests" at their adorable house. Family Feel in Valparaiso.
Fantastic home in an older part of Valparaiso. This older family home dominating a knoll above the City hosts immaculate rooms decorated in antique furniture. You are made to feel at home. English is not a problem but spanish is preferred like most of Chile. The daughters that run this Bed and Breakfast set us up with a welcoming plate of food, and treated us to a gourmet breakfast on an outdoor terrace overlooking the City. Quaint decorations adorn the home and the squeaky wood floors remind you that this place feels like home. Indeed, they know when you are coming downstairs and great with with a smile and warmth. Best to drive in on France Street and turn up Vallejos to Garibaldi. Found it on my first try after studying Google Earth.

Cute and welcoming with great views
This old-style bed & breakfast is adorable. It's run by two wonderful sisters who are incredibly welcoming and even make you delicious crepe suzette in the morning. Expect lots and lots of cute trinkets and lacy fabrics adorning almost every surface. The views are stunning and the beds are super comfortable. It's a 4000 peso-ride from the bus station and a 5000-ride to Cerro Concepcion where most restaurants and shops are found.
