indigenous person threatened me and kicked my friend right outside property for which police and and hotel staff did nothing, also on the third day of our stay same thing happened to my friends and me, while we were outside to enjoy the weather

The Holiday Inn Express needs some attention and upgrades. We got to our room and the first this we noticed is that the carpet was cut away from the wall, so there was a cement gap. And the carpet was very stained and dirty. The bathroom had no soap in the dispenser, but the staff fixed that quickly. The tub had a hole in it, which wasn't a big deal. The shower and water pressure was above average! I tried to use the fitness centre but both treadmills and the eliptical were broken. It was also very dirty. Location for what we were doing was great but parking is very limited. And expensive - $20 a day to park.

The property was very dirty, it seemed that they were accommodating homeless people, that were staying there. There were people that were smoking in stairways, it was very dangerous place, somebody pulled the alarm on our second night and we spent an hour in very cold night. My room smelled very musty, and the property was not well maintained. The front staff were very nice eventhough they had to put up with lots of homeless people.

Don’t stay here bed bugs
We checked into the hotel for a funeral and were immediately put off, there was a huge amount of people coming in and out of the building smoking and the front entrance did not seem like an appropriate place to bring the children, there were many people we suspected as being sex workers hanging around. When we checked in, the room was about 30 degrees Celsius, even with the heat turned off and the window cracked open in -20 degree Winnipeg weather we were still hot. We notified the front desk staff and they said to just try to turn on the heat slowly. The second morning we woke up and jumped out of bed as we found a very large bed bug crawling on our 6 year old son’s pillow. Upon getting out of bed we pulled back the bedspread and were horrified to find several more. We informed the staff immediately that we would not be staying the third night and they were helpful in refunding us completely and washing and drying all of our clothes for us. We still had to go out and buy new luggage and find a new clean hotel which took up a significant part of our day. There will be a lot of work to do at home quarantining our clothes and other belongings. It was an awful experience and I will never stay at a holiday inn again.
