Overall, My wife and I had a nice time at the Shell Island resort. We had a room that provided a living room with a kitchen, stove, refrigerator, plates, drinking glasses, coffee maker, utensils, TV, balcony facing the beach/ocean, watch the sun rise and set, watch the moon rise; we had 2 bathrooms, a bedroom with 2 double beds. The place had 2 pools - outside and inside, a hot tub, a walk on to the beach within seconds. There was an exercise room and a business room for internet access with a desktop computer. There was a restaurant for eating, but you must pay for your own breakfast. The staff were courteous and friendly. Overall, we were happy and it's a nice convenient place to stay; I would definitely recommend this place to other prospective customers and I look forward to returning to the Shell Island Resort perhaps next year. As a recommendation to the management - make sure all mold spots are removed from the ceilings and walls and make sure that all bed sheets do not have any spotted stains - my wife has an eye for this type of discrepancies. But I still recommend for people to come to stay at Shell Island Resort - it is a nice and worthy place to be at.

Run down and dirty. Hotel didn't provide items you get everywhere else (water, lotion, conditioner, etc), no daily housekeeping. No mattress cover on one of the beds, exposed electrical, towel racks falling out of walls, I could go on and on. Very disappointed. Only thing this place has going for it is the oceanfront location.

Just make sure there's not a wedding in the building on the first floor with a live DJ playing music that felt like it was in tue next door room. We were right above the area for weddings. Just get a room on the opposite side on the buildings banquet rooms. View was amazing very clean very average and needs a major remodel

The air conditioning did not work in our room. We went to the restaurant for dinner. I ordered blackened chicken tacos and the tortillas were slimy. My husband ordered fish tacos and took one bite to find the fish was spoiled. We paid and ordered a pizza to be delivered. I would not recommend. One upside was the view from the room.

We booked a king suite. It was clean and convenient with a great view. Space was tight! Much smaller than expected and would’ve been uncomfortable if we stayed more than one night. The kicker though was the coffee maker. It didn’t work because they had the wrong pot and it didn’t make contact with the nipple that releases the coffee! We had to stand there, manually pressing the bulb. I called the desk and asked for a working coffee maker. Never got one. Yucky powdered creamer too. Tip: bring creamer and safe snacks for the birds who know to visit the balconies.

I loved the views and room. The only negative was the smell of the water. It smelled like sulfer and distracted from an otherwise great experience. I asked about the smell and the front desk said the would send someone to flush the line. No one showed up.

Staff was very welcoming upon check-in. Our room was really nice, loved the set up. All rooms face the ocean. We were there for spring break, so the pool wasn't as busy as the hot tub due to the temps. Our only critique of our entire stay would be the size of the hot tub, for such a large hotel. It really could only accommodate about 6 adults. If you want maid service, it has to be requested, but the front desk was great about extra towels, etc. We'll definitely come back again. The views were amazing and its really well located.

I love that it is mostly a hidden and quiet gem. I did not love the fact that our room did not appear clean. There was still trash in the trash can under the kitchen sink. There was sand in our bed and enough black mold in the bathroom that even my children noticed it.

Shell Island Resort is in a very nice location convenient to the beach with all ocean front rooms that have nice views of the ocean and beach. The rooms had a nice layout with living area and kitchenette and separate bedroom. A double sofa bed in the living area. The floors were especially dirty as if they swept but never mopped properly. We wiped up some spilled water and the paper towel became black. The sink and tub took a long time to drain, We informed the front desk about the lack of cleanliness and plugged drains and they sent a maintenance person to address the drains.

The location of the resort is outstanding. Gorgeous views, both front and back. We loved the balcony that gave us an incredible view of the ocean. However, the property is not very well run. We stayed 7 nights and there was literally NO housekeeping service. We were constantly going down to the front desk to ask for a broom, dustpan, toilet paper, etc. The furnishings were very tired and the kitchenette lacked basics like a sponge and dishtowel. (There was no dishwasher). If we stayed here again, it would only be because of the location.

The view from the room was everything. However the room itself, extremely outdated and rundown. The recliner in the room had masking tape holding it together, ceiling texture peeling, cabinets falling apart, appliances outdated and intermittent on use, decor was dusty and old. Can use a serious update. The outdoor pool was beautifully maintained however the indoor pool was so cloudy. The food and drinks here…extremely mediocre especially for the price. They need to do some serious work in that department.

Our room was on the 8th floor and smelled like sewage. After calling this first night they flushed the system but it still smelled awful. They did not have another room and refused to refund me the additional 6 days of my reservation. I had to move to a different hotel. Hi Penny, we're so sorry for the sulfur smell from the water. Unfortunately, the entire island is strictly on well water, and it's not something we can control. We did flush your lines in the room, and could have moved your room for you as well. We also issued you a full refund on the 3/22 with Expedia, and that should have been returned to you within 7-10 business days. We also have worked on the lines in the room you stayed in to make sure we removed the smell and issue from the room. Again, our deepest apologies.

Very dated! We had room 504 and I can barely walk due to the mattress felt like we fell down inside once you laid down. Everything including the water needs to be replaced! The area it self is nice but this resort needs a face lift! I was told every residence is privately owned so it’s time for the owners to upgrade and the cleaners need to do better as well

Unfortunately, the entire island is on well water, and sometime you can smell the sulfur. We can do a line flush which does help clear the smell out of the room. The property was very clean with beautiful views from every room. There were some issues with plugs in the room not working but we were still able to charge our items from others. We checked in very late due to delays driving, thankfully they allow check in at all times just not an overly friendly or alert front desk clerk.

Our room was newly renovated and was beautiful. Water pressure is not great but everything else was amazing. Free coffee is offered in the lobby when the restaurant is closed, however when I went to grab some the pot was always empty. There is free in room coffee. Hotel is popular but rooms are quiet. Never heard anyone either in the hall or in room. Currently their parking garage is under construction so only 2 floors are available for parking but they also have overflow and we never had an issue finding parking even arriving late. Staff were friendly and helpful! Restaurant food was great as well and inexpensive. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return. Thank you!

The only thing I would have liked were Mayans robes in the room or extra blanket considering it was off peak season. But otherwise this was a very relaxing trip and I would stay here again. The views on the 9th floor were definitely worth it.
