"Amazing stay at Shimaya. The owners, as mentioned in other reviews are outstanding. Gave us a ride to the Snow Monkeys and were very helpful. The breakfast (¥700) was simple and quick - toast, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and juice! Onsen was clean and great. We were on the fourth floor and the views were unreal. Will for sure be returning in the winter! "

"It's an older property but very clean and well-maintained. All the staff are friendly and food was great. The onsen was the hottest one we had during this trip to the Nagano area (3 different hotels). Our room faces the river so if you open the window, you can hear the river and mini waterfall. We saw the most amazing sunset at the bridge right in front of the hotel. Hotel is also conveniently located within 15 minutes from the Snow Monkey park, which makes it easy for us to beat the tours by arriving early."

"Super helpful staff and they speak English. The customer service was excellent with thorough explanations of the facilities, the meals and the van service to see the snow monkeys the next day (free van service) Great meals (plenty of great food) and the baths were amazing (onsen). You can book the indoors baths twice in a day (heaven!) and I had a private onsen in my room as well. Even when the weather was super cold and rainy, I was able to enjoy and recover from my long trip. I was not able to get out and walk around the property at night since it was very cold outside. Would definitely love to return! "

"I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel! Affordable and connected to the Nagano train station. There is a nice shopping area nearby as well for gifts for family and food for yourself in your room. Highly recommend this hotel!"

"This was our first time in a Ryokan! And we loved it!! We enjoyed wearing the Kimonos provided and having a multi course dinner! They were also able to provide vegetarian options for dinner as well. The onsen at the hotel was much larger and nicer than the free ones outside the hotel. There is a toilet in the room but no shower, so you have to use the public bath to shower."

"The staff was amazing. Very friendly and professional. I especially like the fact that they picked us up from our bus stop and took us to Snow monkey River. Thereafter, we called them, and they picked us up and took us to the hotel. The private onsen was amazing. I enjoyed it. The 13 course meal was exceptional and tasty This is a must place hotel to be at because they make the whole transition from the bus stop to their place very easy. There is a couple that runs the place and they are helpful, professional, and beautiful!!!"

"We were hoping to stay in a traditional ryokan with access to an onsen and Seifuso did not disappoint. The room was beautiful and the mattresses were set up when we arrived (we travelled late and arrived after 8). One of the owners drove us to the monkey park and pointed out the bus stop to get back which was seamless. Highly recommend this property for a stay! Wish we had been able to avail of their meals which looked delicious. If we're back in Yudanaka, I'd definitely stay here again."

"We did the half board option and the food and service was excellent. It was great for experiencing Japanese cuisine and culture. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the station and the bus to see the snow monkey park. "
