"This is a "Holiday Club". Unless you are there with your family to partake in the waterpark do not stay here. Nothing was open when we got there at 3pm. No bar, no restaurant, except pizza and Hersberger. Breakfast in the morning is late, too late for anyone expecting to get an early start. Just a bad choice unless you want to go to the waterpark."

The forthcoming reception service assured us easy parking and a spacious, very comfortable room directly at our quite early arrival, the room in line with our reservation, of course. "The hotel was hosting many families with small children when we visited and managed to provide prompt, attentive service despite the number of guests. The location was perfect for accessing the river walk and excellent restaurants. "

"When it says "hostel" right on the label, it's reasonable to expect a spartan environment. The S/S Bore is exactly what it says; a private room really is a narrow cabin in a retired Baltic steamship. That said, there *is* a private bathroom and shower (extremely small but it's your own.) The biggest issue was the stagnant air in the room. My stateroom was in a lower deck and really hot. Upper decks were cooler. It was unseasonably warm in Turku during my stay, and the room never dropped below 80F / 27C. The porthole (not a window, a real porthole) could not be opened, and the solid door did not allow any air to enter the room when closed. Even though the air extractor in the ceiling and bathroom were both running, there was no place for cool air to enter. It was stifling. Other things to know: bedding is provided, but you make your own bed upon arrival. There's no traditional room cleaning. Overall the room was clean but the carpet was better without close inspection. There was only one electrical outlet in the room and one in the tiny bathroom, so hopefully you only need to plug in one device. Breakfast is included and serviceable in the scandanavian/make-a-sandwich kind of way. Would I stay there again? Well, I needed to be close to the Turku castle for a music festival so the location was ideal, and the price was right even when all the traditional hotels were ridiculously overpriced, so well, yes, maybe I would. But I'd really want a fan in the summer."
