Warning: this guide contains Amazing Race season 38 spoilers.
With a dreamy mix of architectural styles, historic old town, and riverside charm, it’s no wonder that Prague is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. And in the new season of The Amazing Race, teams raced through the city’s epic scenery.

Discover riverside charm and dreamy architecture in Prague’s historical old town
After a hectic overnight train from Amsterdam, contestants hit the ground running in Prague, starting high above the city at the Žižkov Television Tower (“It looks taller than it did on the map,” engaged couple Izzy Gleicher and Paige Seber noted.) Like the giant baby sculptures clinging to its sides, teams had to climb to the top—only to find a Roadblock that required one racer to step out on a plank, ironically suspended above a nearby cemetery, to collect their clue.
With their feet back safely on the ground, it was a mad dash to the Detour, where teams choose between delivering traditional Czech glassware, and memorizing the names of village crests, which they had to scout from the backs of chairs in a busy brewpub. Then it was one final push to Žofín Palace where they greeted Phil on the mat, accompanied by his new friend, famous Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, as portrayed by a local actor.
The Czech Republic’s fairytale-worthy capital is home to centuries-old castles, Gothic cathedrals, medieval squares, and cobblestone streets, making it the perfect escapist retreat. But to really soak it in, be sure to spend at least three days in the city, because this isn’t a place you simply want to hustle through–unless of course, you’re in a race for a million dollars.
