Charges for coffee and tea?

Our stay at Hotel Affina Chicago was very enjoyable. So many restaurants, stores, and tourist attractions were within walking distance and public transportation. The front desk, concierge, other attendants, and custodial staff were welcoming and helpful. We were surprised, though, that this hotel would charge for the coffee or tea bags in the room and did not have ice available unless room service was called.

Can’t wait to come back

Our stay at the Affinia Hotel in Chicago was perfect. The staff from doorman Daniel, to the front desk, and concierge Christopher were all extremely helpful and friendly. In fact, the doorman remembered our name over the whole weekend. Our room was very spacious, clean, and had an awesome view of the skyline. We had read some complaints about having to wait awhile for elevators but we did not experience that at all. The C-View Bar on top of the hotel also had a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. In addition, we loved the location. We were only a block from the Magnificent Mile and just a few blocks to the Navy Pier. We also walked to Millenium Park and the Art Institute, which were only about a mile or so from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chicago.

Would go again!

This is a great hotel, very comfortable room, great location with proximity to Michigan Avenue. Service was good, room comfortable and clean. Comparable to the W without the pretension and techno music everywhere. I go to Chicago 2x a year on business and would easily stay there again. I small complaint, there was a courtyard/service entrance below my room (fourth floor) which was a little loud, next time I might request a room on the other side of the hotel or on a higher floor.

This hotel is well located and very good. Near magnificient mile, the point for shops, restaurants and all a tourist needs.

a city tour using a hop in hop off bus. The view at the top of Sears Towers is great and the Millenium Park is beautiful.

Charge for coffee in room

I have stayed in the Affinia Gardens in NY and so expected and hoped for similar, high quality customer friendly service. The concierge service at the Affinia Chicago was excellent. They printed boarding passes, made dinner and tour reservations, etc. The main drawback was that there were no simple amenities. Even the coffee packets in the room were chargeable.

There is a bakery about 2 blocks away that serves coffee.

I’d go the Affinia again

The hotel was great. The location was perfect for our vacation and the hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were all very friendly. I’d definitely stay there again.

This hotel was the best I have stayed in while visting Chicago. The location is perfect! You are 30 seconds from Michigan Ave, and Neiman Marcus is your neighbor! The rooms were spotless. The valet guys were super...we had a small issue with one semi-rude front desk girl, but perhaps she was having a bad day... Like other reviews, you do hear sirens from the nearby hospital, but it was hardly noticible to us, and is expected in a big city. We were celebrating our engagement, and mentioned it to the desk upon check in, which resulted in a high-floor room with direct views of the John Hancock building. Overall a perfect getaway - we won’t stay anywhere else.

Wonderful Hotel

Clean room, plush bedding, fluffy towels, Aveda products, great location, etc. My only complaint is the fee for wireless internet. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Can’t wait to go back

The hotel was located close to the downtown and all eating establishments. Hotel staff was very friendly and informative.

Convenient location for this trip, but nothing spectacular

My recommendation is conditional. Locale was convenient, but the hotel is nothing outstanding. If this is where you need to be, it’s ok. In an email to the hotel, before the visit, I asked for a room with a view, if possible. We got a 6th floor room with a view of a couple construction elevators. They beep when they move, if you’ve never had the privilege. The construction across the alley from our room kept us up Friday night; Saturday night was a little better. Our traveling companions had rooms on the 20th and 26th floors, above the construction. I guess asking for a view was being a little pushy. The door staff and housekeepers were very efficient and friendly.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Unless you need your car each day, park it yourself down the street in the public parking deck and save $11 per day. Save $150 or more per day by staying in the suburbs and commuting.

Will only stay here when I go to Chicago

This is a great hotel located close to Michigan ave close to shops. One of the best places to eat is connected to the hotel ginos east great pizza....

Surprised at the level of service and highly recommend!

We booked the Jr Suite for a place to stay for a bachelorette party downtown. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, the great layout and the five-star customer service. Every request was granted immediately and with a smile. We loved the comfortable bed, the decor, the water pressure, which can be iffy at any hotel, and the staff. I will always suggest this hotel to out of town family and friends and anyone wanting a nice hotel downtown.

Great location, wonderful room, once they get the elevator situation fixed

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Affinia Hotel in Chicago. The location is perfect -- the room was very cozy and the bed was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and made sure our stay was perfect. The ONLY issue we had was with the elevator situation, a staff member (in the hotel) told us they are rebuilding the service elevator which causes the cleaning staff to have to use the regular elevator. During peak hours and the afternoon, it was difficult to get an elevator, however, we were aware of this situation prior to our stay (by reading other reviews) so that helped us to not be quite as frustrated Also, they have a really neat rooftop outside bar, we visited it quickly on Sunday afternoon prior to our departure. We really enjoyed that as well. We got a really good deal on our rates through Expedia, which really button the deal up for us. We had a great time in Chicago that weekend and our stay at the Affinia just topped it off!

Terrific Hotel

We were very impressed. We found a good price for labor day weekend for a short vacation to Chicago. The Hotel was very nice, clean, friendly.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

There is a Gino’s East right next door, very busy. The Hotel restaurant was great for breakfast but portions were small for the price. We loved the location, right off of Michigan Ave. There’s a bus that runs down Michigan which takes you down to the museums by Soldier field. Very convenient, just a block or so away from the hotel. Even with a baby in a stroller. On the way back, get off at Huron, as the next stop is a couple blocks north of Superior.

The perfect balance of attention and space from the hotel staff. Clean, modern, great amenities and love the pillows! Second stay and same great service.

Awesome Location

The Affinia exceeded our expectations! The staff was great, they let us use their computers to check in for our flight. The location is literally right beside the infamous Gino’s East Pizzeria (must eat there!) and one block from the Magnificent Mile. Rooms were nice, beds very comfy, rooftop bar/lounge a must! I can’t say enough!

Go have drinks at Trump Tower’s lounge, "Rebar". Also, take the architectural tour from Navy Pier. Take train to Cubs game to save some $, eat at Gino’s next door!

Great location close to the Magnificent Mile

Great hotel and location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had surprised our daughter with a trip to Chicago so she could do some school shopping. I let the hotel know in advance that it was a surprise and they gave us a room with a great view of the city. The C-House was a nice restaurant for breakfast with very friendly staff. My only knock of the hotel was the internet through the T.V. was a complete rip off! It took forever to load a page and then it was limited content displayed. I would think for the price charged it would work a little better. Next time I will bring my lap top and then my stay will be perfect.

Nice stay

The Affinia was within walking distance to most attractions. Hotel room was extremely clean and loved the bathroom. Looked newly renovated. Hotel staff was extremely helpful and pleasant - especially Marisol who checked us in early. The hotel is very close to the hospital so sirens run day and night. Kind of got used to it. They are also building right next door so work began early in the morning. Would definately stay here again when visiting Chicago.

Great location, great stay.

I was extremely satisfied with this hotel. Very modern amenities and great location. Less than a block from Michigan Avenue. One down fall was that there was not a vendor or ice machine on the floor I was on. Other than that I would recommmend this hotel to anyone.

room location

I was given a room on the 3rd floor which faced the alley so I did not have any kind of a view and at around 5am every morning, you would hear all of the delivery trucks in the alley. Other than that, the room was very comfortable, staff were very attentive and friendly and hotel was in a great location.

Great hotel

They were very friendly at check in and the consiuer was very helpful. If you need something just call, they brought us ice as you can’t find ice machines and there are no ice buckets in room.

Extremely great hotel

We received excellent service from the time we arrived there. The room was very clean and extremely roomy with a full fridge. The staff was very very helpful throughout the whole stay. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms were elegantly decorated,bathrooms were large and beautiful.

The only luxury I missed were the following: 1.There was a charge for the coffee and tea in the room,even though the coffeepot was available. 2. There was no continental breakfast served for the hotel guest.
