Its a nice hotel- very close to the theatre so if you are a light sleeper do not get the suite by the main street. Great location.

Charming hotel in a convenient location.
Charming rooms. Many are junior suites. We had a standard room which was a little tight but quaintly furnished. I have actually stayed here 20 years ago when it was the Rex. Front desk, bellmen, housekeeping and restaurant staff couldnt be nicer. Breakfast is priced like a a European hotel --$10 continental and competitive with the many breakfast places on Geary St. Its a nice change from most of the business chains in this category. Right in the heart of things. Quick walk to shopping in Union Square and the cable cars. About a 10 min walk to SFMOMA. 10 minute cab ride to the Marina and Praesidio.15 min. walk to the financial district. There are many places you can walk to from the Warwick without any steep hills, which is important in San Francsisco. Not so if you stay on Nob Hill.

Great location
This hotel is in great location and just a couple of blocks from the cable car line and a few blocks from chinatown. The rooms are a little small but comfortable. We had the room away from the street and it was very quiet. The room does not have AC but we did not need in early september. The only thing we were not too happy with was that the "full" breakfast did not include everything - you have a choice of either cold or hot breakfast, not both.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
This hotel is located a walking distance from the BART station so you can take the train from SFO if you dont have a lot of luggage and save a few bucks. It can even be even quicker than taking taxi or shuttle because of traffic. Also, if youre traveling within San Francisco, you dont need a rental car. You can purchase a muni passport which is good to take you anywhere within San Fran. Parking can cost anywhere from 30-50 a night.

Me and a few friends were going to celebrate my 29th birthday at Ruby Skye just around the corner. This hotel was fabulous!!! LOved the feel and overall style of our room. Great deal for our money!!! We were a little giddy over the fire escape.... took lots of pictures:) Maybe all San Fran hotels have this but it was new to me and sooo awesome.... Staff was very nice and accommodating.... will definitely be back!!!

Very Satisfactory Experience
We received a great deal from expedia on a vacation package and accordingly had our expectations set rather low, but we were pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable our stay was at this hotel. Our floor was quiet and we heard no noises at all from neighboring guest rooms. Our room was a deluxe queen that although was small, was more than adequate as we were barely in our room. We opened the windows at night and turned our ceiling fan on and did not miss air conditioning at all. There was some noise from outside from street level, but nothing we couldnt handle. We were on the sixth floor. My only complaint is that I thought the housekeeping could have been a little more thorough, but we were not bothered enough to express any complaints to the front desk. The location was within walking distance to all the public transporation options. We will definitely use this hotel for our next visit.
We relied on public transportation and frequently had to stand for long periods of time on the trolleys and cable cars. This was especially true leaving the fishermans wharf area. If I had young children or older adults I might rent a car.

Nice Location
Good proximity to union square, market st, etc. spacious rooms, decent deals, not the most glamorous, modern amenities. Classic, period piece, matches building, has SF character.

Clean, convenient and comfortable. Rooms are small.
Its San Francisco after all. The usual overpriced boutique hotels. Bums and panhandlers.

Just know...
Very nice little hotel in a good location near Union Plaza in the theater district, a short walk to the convention center and BART station. Just be aware that the standard rooms are VERY small, and the hotel does not have air conditioning. Sure, the weather is usually cool in San Francisco, but my room was uncomfortably stuffy.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
Using this hotel is easy for travelers flying in to SFO. You can catch the BART train there in one of the terminals and get dropped off at the Powell Street station. The hotel is an easy walk from there without any hills in between. Lots of dining choices in easy walking distance and broadway-style theater on the same block.

Breakfast at Hotel Resturant
I only have one issue, be prepared to pay alot for a little when you eat at the hotel resturant. I ordered pancakes and expected to get pancakes but what I got looked and tasted more like crapes.

A wonderful choice!
The small size of this hotel, along with a very well trained staff made it feel like going home every night. We requested, and received a room on the top floor-off of Geary. There was a little bit of noise from the Hostel located in the alley-but it quieted down pretty early. When you are in the heart of the city you should expect a certain amount of noise. We heard no sounds whatsoever from within the hotel. The other guests were quiet and respectful. We found the restaurant to be very professionally staffed and the food was delicious. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable about all the public modes of transportation and helped us each morning with our plans. We loved the decor and ambience of this beautiful building. It has been said before-but this hotel is perfectly located for all of your needs. Any closer to Union Square and it might be too loud-but it was a nice quick walk. The main Powell/Market line was 5 minutes away. We would definitely choose this wonderful gem again.

Good choice
Great location for a downtown visit. Close to transportation. There was a lot of street noise but otherwise a great room for the price and location.

Great hotel, good location
The staff was very friendly, always tried to help (extra umbrellas, directions, etc). In house restaurant, overpriced (but good). If you walk (which you should in San Francisco), be prepared for the homeless. This hotel is on the edge of a more questionable area. I always felt safe except when we walked down Taylor Street. Overall, charming and cute comfy. No AC but the windows open and the ceiling fan provided enough air to keep the room very cool. (End of February)

Noisy, small and no gym on premises
We chose this hotel because we needed a two room suite to accommodate both my brother and I. The good: 1. Location 2. Availability of junior suites (2 sliding doors that dont exactly close) 3. The bed was very comfortable 4. Most of the staff was very nice. The bad: 1. The gym is down the street and costs $15 per use 2. When I arrived I was given a regular room even though I paid for a junior suite. Thankfully there were junior suites so the mistake was corrected 3. You have to pay $11.95 per day for internet use 4. If you face Geary St. youre across the street from a very noisy nightclub. 5. The rooms are very, very small 6. The tv in the living room did not work and the staff did not send the repairman as promised. I had to remind them and then I had a repairman in my room for 2-3 hours.

Great location!
This is an older, charming, historic hotel near downtown with a great location, across from the theatres and a few blocks from Union Square shopping, Museum of Modern Art, and cable car stops. My husband and our two daughters shared the largest suite at the Warwick, and while not as luxurious as newer, more spendy SF hotels, this was perfect for a long weekend getaway - two large separate rooms, two bathrooms, and two TVs. It was right in the middle of everything, and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a PC with free Internet access in the lobby (or room WiFi for a fee). The hotel restaurant food was great, and there are plenty of other good restaurants nearby too. Lots to see and do in this area. The down side: aggressive panhandlers sometimes made for an uneasy walk. Sadly, just part of the SF downtown scene.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Skip the car rental (and the daily parking fee). Everything is convenient to this hotel, and public transportation is excellent in SF.

Excellent SF Choice
The location of the hotel is perfect and the price is right. I looked at several other hotels before booking - most were more expensive - it looked like they were all near each other but I was surprised to walk past all of them. We stayed in a junior suite because we were there for three nights and just in case we ended up spending more time in the room than planned due to weather, we didnt want to feel too cramped. The restaurant is excellent and wonderfully convenient for breakfast.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Dont bother with a car. We used BART to get from SFO to the hotel and MUNI transportation to get everywhere we didnt want to walk - Fishermans Wharf, Golden Gate Park, and Golden Gate Bridge.

Satisfying Experience
My boyfriend and I recently spent a week in San Fran, and the Warwick was in a great location near Union Square and the Powell Street bus/cable car/train station. It was very easy for us to walk to the Powell Street station and use the public transportation to get anywhere in the city. The price was good for what we received at the hotel. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly. The only drawbacks of the hotel were the decor in the rooms and the thinness of the walls and ceiling. At night and in the morning, we could hear the guests above our floor walking in their room, and on our last night guests moved into the neighboring room and we could hear their t.v. through the walls. We also got woken up by the garbage trucks every morning. We were staying on the 4th floor. We never ate at the hotels restaurant because it was too pricey. It was a good experience, and we would stay at the hotel again.
Traveler's tip on dining
The restaurants are expensive in SF, but we found a little cafe/crapery just up the block from our hotel called Honey Honey. Free Wi-Fi & good food for normal prices. Pasta, burgers, salads, crepes, breakfast, etc. We had breakfast there every morning and ate a few other meals there. Cute environment, nice and friendly staff. About a 30 second walk from the hotel. The Grand Cafe across the street from the hotel is very expensive but has a front room, with similar food that was less expensive.

Junior suite was nice
this hotel has lots of potenial to be a wonderful best kept secret. The lobby was small but nicely appointed. the staff was friendly, helpful, and kind. The Junior Suite was nice, but it could have been wonderful if there were cealing fans installed so that it is not nessecary to open windows as the alley is noicey and our room faced the Youth Hostel across the alley and they party til 4am!(every nite we were there)
Traveler's tip on dining
the Grand cafe across from the hotel was excellent, food was yummy, with helpful and friendly service. Would highly reccomend it

Cant wait to go back!!!
The staff was so professional and accomodating. We had a beautiful suite on the top floor that was delightful. The staff helped us to find a great restaurant in China Town and wrote directions. We loved the location. My girls and I are already talking about planning another trip for shopping.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
There is so much to do close by. Chinatown, Museums, shopping, restaurants are all so close. You do not need a car to get around. The suite was very comfortable for a family. There were two bathrooms!!

Pretty good
The Warwick was clean and professional. We had two problems. First we were on the second floor with windows on an alleyway. It got a bit noisy when the bars closed around 2 am. I had to ask two different groups of people to get away from my window. Both mornings there was a trash pick-up around 6:00 am. If you ever stay here, ask for a room on one of the higher floors. Second, we asked for breakfast room service at 8:00 am the night before. We received a call at 6:50 am that morning informing us they were out of milk and what would we like instead. They woke us up. Somewhat minor but annoying none the less.

Great location!
The hotel is in a great location for everything: Sightseeing, shopping, buses, restaurants, etc. We had a Jr suite for the four of us - 2 bathrooms and a sliding door between the 2 rooms. Perfect for the older kids- we were all together but had some privacy too.
Traveler's tip on dining
We really liked Cafe Sport in North Beach. Great Italian food served family style!
