Nesting with Turtles

This ground floor apartment, right on the beach, is sure to exceed your expectations and provide you with the relaxing retreat you’ve been waiting for! With an open floor plan, maximizing living space, and glass sliders for capturing the wonderful sea breeze, the condo is air-conditioned and also has ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room. A fully-fitted kitchen with a 4-burner stove/oven, with comfortable, open and inviting, living and dining areas, plus its own patio by the beach.

A lovely little efficiency unit right on Halfmoon Bay. Perfect for couples looking to detach at the beach and avoid the chaos of a resort. It’s not the newest property in the neighborhood, but the location is one of the better ones on the bay and the staff take good care of it. Beach is raked daily, pool deck is swept and there is housekeeping. Water shoes are a must if you plan to go into the ocean. We would definitely come back!

Ground floor 1 bedroom

Everything was amazing, I went to sleep and woke up to the waves every day. I quite literally could see the Caribbean from my pillow! A few short steps in the water and you drop in to aquarium like snorkeling. Straight out the front door. Leave your flippers at home, just rock shoes and a mask/snorkel. All kinds of shopping groceries and keepsakes, Buena Vida was excellent and just 5 mins down the beach. Thank-you to our host, David and the amazing staff at La Joya, for a fantastic 11 nights.

Beautiful location!

It was a nice condo with all the basic necessities, and in an excellent location! Patio right next to the beach and the pool. The area had lots of offer: snorkeling, swimming with sea turtles, and wonderful restaurants, all on a safe little beachside street. Highly recommend!

La Joya- “The Jewel”

Being familiar with Akumal. I knew this was a GREAT location. Walk off your front terrace, past the pool, and wade into the turquoise waters of the Caribbean to cool off or snorkel. Best of all, a waterfront, fully equipped, one bedroom condo for the cost of an average 2 star hotel room. What’s not to love? Great staff and communication as well. Thank you!

Trouble finding the correct property

We had difficulty in locating the actual property as the listing title and the actual name of the property were not the same. It would have been very helpful to know the actual name of the property complex. Further having a backup contact would have been helpful. As for the property ~ both the unit and staff were wonderful, great location with wonderful beach access. Would absolutely book it again.

great Lower level 2-person condo

The property is listed correctly. With a lot of Mexico condos having built in sofas made of concrete with cushions they are not very comfortable, as are the other chair and bean bag in the condo for sitting. I ended up bringing in a plastic patio chair to watch TV. Maybe this wouldn't be a issue for short term stays, we stayed 6-weeks. Beach was very rocky so make sure to bring water shoes, snorkeling was pretty good with a lot of plant life and fish. Sargassum seaweed came in earlier than anticipated this year which made for a clear water entry hard, but the resort did their best at controlling it by having workers remove it from the beach as best they can. Location was around a 8-minute walk to Yal-Ku Lagoon to the north and a 20- minute to walk to the south where the main part of Akumal has most of the stores and restaurants. Would definitely recommend, suggest upgrading the seating in living room.

We had a great time while staying here! The location was perfect! We had a few small issues with the property, the light switch at the entry gave us a shock, the outlet by the bed didn’t work and the safe didn’t lock.. But, the staff was very attentive to these issues. We would definitely stay here again! I wish they had paddle boards or kayaks, though!
