“The bar area, restaurant all very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Situated on the river with amazing views from the dining room. Also the opportunity to sit outside in this beautiful setting. Very nice breakfast and evening meals. On the downside. The room we had was not very soundproof there was a wardrobe across a door which meant next doors tv was very loud. Our tv had a very tired handset. There is no lift so be prepared to do quite a bit of walking up and down stairs and corridors.”

“The location on the corner of a quiet road junction was convenient, the staff free check in / out was sensible and progressive consistent with all relevant information gathered during booking. Street parking was ample and the room clean - if a little small for the furniture present. The bed was clean, soft and had enough bedding. “We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat. We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!) All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast”
