“How this property ever got numerous 10 stars is beyond my comprehension; very obviously fake reviews. The shower floor was nasty. There was what appeared to be black mold under kitchen sink. Floors were uneven and sinking in spots. Roof covered with tarp. Walls were particle board and mismatched pieces of scrap wood. Overall, we had to question the integrity of the home. Owner did not sent check- in info on day of until we called an hour after check-in time. Left shortly after seeing the place.……

“My wife and I are 75/74 and have been visiting Western NC for the last 3 years several times each year, and except for the first time, have always stayed at cabins through VRBO and the other one. Each time we mention how much we liked the place, and this time was no exception. It rained for several days and it was enjoyable to sit out on the front porch and have our breakfast while watching and listening to the light rain. “The only toilet facilities was a porta potty which smelled and looked like it had not been emptied in months. Shower did not have a way to lock the door of the only shower, to keep others out. We did not have cell phone reception because of the mountains and no way to contact the owner. No one was around to check us in.”

“Mountain Shadows is a cozy cottage nestled in the forest amongst a few other cabins but with enough privacy to let you lay back and relax. The house was well-equipped, clean and the hot tub was a welcome diversion after a long day out. This is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone.”
