    This is the Sea Ranch configuration built for families: parents claim the oceanfront king bedroom — sunrise out the window, waves as the all-night soundtrack — while the kids get their own room with two twin beds. A queen sleep sofa in the living area flexes the suite up to six, with TVs in the living room and master and a fully furnished kitchen for cereal mornings and sandy-feet lunches. The view from the balcony was stunning. The room was not cleaned well. There were stains all over the carpet. Dirt and dust all over like nothing had been wiped down. The cabinets had food sticking to it from previous tenants. Tables warped/stained. I would not stay here again.

Simple & Affordably Wonderful

If you are looking for a place to stay in the Outer Banks region that is steps away from the beach and/or has a balcony with superb views, this is the place for you. This is not a place to stay if you are looking for granite counter-tops and glass surrounded stand up showers with fancy shower heads and the like. With that being said we lacked for nothing and it was clean and comfortable. I personally needed nothing more. The bistro at the facility was quite good and if you don't like swimming in the ocean the indoor pool was very nice and maintained very well. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Great oceanfront property!

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Ranch Resort! Our favorite thing about it was the proximity to the beach. We loved looking out our balcony and seeing the ocean from the living area and the master bedroom and then having just a short walk to the beach. Don, who rented the beach chairs and umbrellas was so nice and accommodating. This was our first visit to OBX and it did not disappoint. We also appreciated the proximity of the property to points of interest such as the Wright brothers museum and great local restaurants and attractions. We hope to return soon!

Outdated, unclean, and overpriced.

We stayed at Sea Ranch for 5 days in early August 2018 in an oceanfront condo. We booked through this site and while we read that the photos online are not necessarily the condo you will be assigned upon check-in, we expected at least a condo that was comparable to the photos online. We checked in, went to our assigned condo, and were immediately disappointed. We were hit by a musty smell when we entered and the condo was dirty-- despite the ad online that said "recently renovated", the bedroom carpet was horribly worn and stained, the ceilings were flaking, the kitchen cabinets were stained/streaked (with grease/food?), and there were flies all over the place. I complained to the front desk, saying that we were so disappointed for the astronomical price we paid for the condo (five hundred a night) and were assigned to a different condo (1 floor up). We entered, and thankfully there was no smell, but there were plenty of issues. The kitchen cabinets were still stained (with food?), there were fingerprints all over every window, there were black greasy hand prints on the back door and bathroom walls, the ceiling finish was peeling off, there were hundreds of bugs in the dining room light fixture, there was rust in the freezer, dirty ice in the ice bucket in the freezer, rust spots on the front/side of the fridge, pink mold on the floor of the shower, mold in the ice bucket, dark stains on the white bed spread in the master bedroom, and neither bathroom fan worked... I took photos of all of this. Now, I will say that the view was beautiful-- the condo is directly on the water and the balconies off the living room and master bedroom were lovely. But the place looks (and feels) like a motel that's been converted into condos (was built in 1960s). For much less $, you could get a nicer hotel room on the ocean. I looked at reviews of the Sea Ranch before booking, and saw nothing but good reviews (through this site). But now, searching several other travel sites we are seeing tons of reviews that echo our bad experience. Please beware. It's a ton of money for an outdated, unclean, uncomfortable, run-down "motel room".

Nice get away

Had a perfectly nice time at the Sea Ranch. The room was clean, though the owners have done very little to accent it with wall hangings, pictures, etc... The kitchen could use a few more things. Some broken knives and scissors. No cork screw. After one night, the refrigerator acted up and for some unknown reason, the temperature went way down and most everything got frozen. Strange. The ice maker is a power horse. Works fantastically. In the master bathroom, the fan went from very loud to seemingly not working. Definitely needs replaced. The tv can be a bit frustrating to turn on. But after trying various ways, it came on. Seemed to be like that each time. The last complaint is it's really disappointing that the Sea Ranch does not offer recycling. Come on! Just a trash room. I took mine with me to do my part. Now to the good parts. The bed was comfortable. The room was comfortable. Enjoyed sitting and eating out on the balcony each day. It's nice to be on the second floor so you can just walk straight out to the beach. Loved that. Being up high would be a nicer view to the water and beach, but we were fine on the 2nd floor. The beach was sweet. We got lucky with the weather for sure. We only went to the restaurant once, and it was fine. Nice staff there. It's also a great location as you can really get to anywhere on the outer banks pretty quickly. Thanks again. We enjoyed it.
