LOCATION INFO: The train to Manhattan is about a three minute walk. When buying tickets, select “Other Tickets – City Tickets – Off Peak” for the NYC discount price ($5). If travelling to or from Manhattan (Penn Station) during rush hour then it is City Ticket Peak. The train to Manhattan (Penn Station) is approximately 30 – 37 min and it is a nice ride.
Next to the train station is a lovely bakery and coffee shop.
You can also take the Q36 bus to Northern Blvd, it stops right around the corner, it’s about one minute ride, it costs $2.75 and you can pay with a card.
Northern Boulevard is the main hub here and it is about a five minute walk to most places there, including:
Marathon Food Shop – amazing deli Little Neck Pharmacy & Drug Store Chase Bank Post Office Library J Mart Supermarket Polo Deli (open late) All Star Wine & Liquor
There is also CVS, Dunkin Donuts, 7-11, 24 hour McDonalds and a host of great eateries. Menus for some of my favorites are here in this book. For a quick affordable fix, Toskana Pizza, ACE Bagels, and Great Wok Chinese are all excellent. If you visit one restaurant while here, I highly recommend Il Bacco, a ~5 min walk.
You truly don’t need a car here. But if you have one, you can travel easily to; -Rockaway Beach -Jones Beach -Robert Moses Beach -Sands Point Nature Preserve – beach, hiking and historic mansion -Miracle Mile Luxury Shopping in Manhasset
Just two stops west on the Long Island Railroad is Bell Boulevard, a legendary Queens mecca of restaurants and bars. Tons of great spots here! My favorites are Bourbon Street and Spanglish.
If you fancy a ~20 minute walk west down Northern Boulevard, there is a great golf spot with bar and lounge and also Alley Pond Park and Nature Center, they are across the street from each other.
