This was a beautiful hostel. The building is stunning and the location by the river is ideal. Good amentites, place kept clean and many living areas to eat, meet travelers and relax. A kitchen is available too and the supermarket is less than 10 min away. The onsen was small but well kept. The whole building just felt like it came out of a Miyazaki movie. I found the city nothing particular, and most eateries quite expensive. Even the hostel at 70$ per night felt a bit steep, but it was nice to spend a night here especially if you are on the way back to Tokyo.

"Nice traditional Japanese ryokan with tatami rooms"
Good way to immerse yourself in Japanese culture. Sleep on the floor with tatami mats and enjoy a traditional Japanese hot springs bath. Wear a Japanese yukata kimono to relax and enjoy. Eat the traditional Japanese breakfast for a small fee. It is worth it and will fill you up until lunch. There is a 15 minute walk to the train station. It is a major train station where the express trains all stop which is great. Please identify the train station for visitors as I got off at Ito station which was several train stations away and ran up my taxi bill. I was able to explore the Izu Peninsula due to the convenience of the location. The staff was very helpful in identifying locations to visit and even provided transportation to close by areas.
