Decorated with a white, sandy beach and extensive green parkland, Grange is a tranquil suburb to visit in the western part of Adelaide. Its historic buildings create a rustic ambiance, while the Port Adelaide River and St. Vincent Gulf offer fun and scenic settings for families.
Find a spot on Grange Beach to roll out your blanket and enjoy a picnic. The beach is at the heart of much of the local activity and is known for its spectacular sunsets. Walk out along the Grange Jetty pier and reach the covered pavilion at the end, before enjoying views of the stretch of sand and St. Vincent Gulf.
Notice the Grange Hotel, which stands right at the entrance to the beach along a wide esplanade. Stop for a few drinks at the restaurant. Consider purchasing some of the clothes on display in the trendy shops lining the street at the rear of the beach.
Play on both courses of the picturesque and internationally rated Grange Golf Club. Enjoy a meal at the complex’s stylish restaurant and appreciate breathtaking views on each hole. You can also play as a visitor on the links topography of the Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
Visit the Grange Sailing Club and look around the Charles Sturt Museum, whose building dates back to 1840.
Find the Grange neighborhood between West Lakes Shore and Henley Beach, on the western edge of Adelaide. From the city center, travel by train to the Grange or East Grange station. By car, you can get here from the city center in about 20 minutes. While in the area, see some of the nearby coastal districts, including Tennyson, West Beach and Glenelg.
